Also, a quick bit of insight: It's not that designing an SE is fundamentally more difficult (although TTO and adjustable certainly are). It's just that 3 piece DEs are a much larger market generally and so are the natural choice for a first entry. Will definitely look into SE eventually though. Also, making a sub $50 razor is definitely doable but requires mass production manufacturing technology such as die casting, and volumes in the 100k units. Which is an upfront cost that most smaller razor makers can't easily pull off. Have a great one guys!

The quantity of competitors (including soap makers) would have an impact on why some of them to close their operations. Presently finding a high quality shaving soap is very very very easy. The number of individual shave soaps products is countable probably in the thousands.

This may be irrelevant to this video but I notice that you use a plastic o-ring around the thread insert of your blackland razors. Can to direct me to where u buy them from? Thanks

You want to look for M5 Nylon washers, The Razor Company stocks them as well as any number of places online. I don’t typically shave with them in the razor however and there are arguments for and against the practice. Hope that helps!

Who are some notable artisans that closed up shop in 223?
Anyone have a guess as to who may close in 224?

I see that already over the last year vendors following treads and trying to move into other areas and fail in the UK. I can see few US artisans scaling back a lot already seeing this in the pomade community. Also in the shaving community products being dropped EOL.

I really hope you are wrong about the Great Collapse of 2024. I see the problem as the vendors refusing to meet the supply vs. demand theory. I just don't see very many discounts or price decreases to counter new entries into the market. Sometimes you can just have TOO MANY choices. It can be overwhelming to the consumer. Better quality for fewer choices and interesting prices seems like a win win scenario.
