My neighbors just had Anderson renewal do their house for30k. It’s a 230k house. The math doesn’t add up. Great vid thanks for the info.
Renewal by Andersen is a bit of an outlier.

I am telling you I just started my search of window's and Jeff your videos are great and informative. I am getting sucked into this whole process and starting to love the window! Pella is suppose to come out so I am sure I am in for it. Basically, the quality of the window light transmission, infrared, ect. is important but so is the install and insurance. Lots of stuff. Thanks for this informative series! How many estimates should you get? Well, I've gotten 6 and I'll tell you prices are all over the place. For my 3 window replacement job I've gotten quotes from $10.3k to $13k for Andersons and from $4.3k to $10.6k for various vynal windows. Oddly enough, the lowest bid company (Tri-state Window Factory) also has the best reviews across Google, Angie's List and Yelp. Haven't made my final choice yet...I'm waiting for one more quote for Okna Windows which were highly rated.

Thanks for watching and for your question. It sounds like there's a lot of variables in your market.
I would typically suggest you throw out the highest bid and the lowest bid. It's usually the guys in the middle that are giving a great value.
Since your job only has three windows, can expect that the labor cost would be higher than a job that has 23 windows. Therefore, I would imagine the cost should be at least $4,000.
I would go with the company that has the best looking, and performing window, and they have great reviews.

No fluff, just the facts. Love that example about cooking the steak by yourself. Yep, it happens, sometimes we think that we can cook better than any restaurant can do and in the end, the result of our own cooking even our dog doesn’t want to eat.
We have seen some homeowners tried doing window installation themselves and in the end everything had to be redone.
Yes, it's definitely a job for skilled and experienced craftsmen.
@ghee cappy sometimes it does, other times it does not. Why then have these 50/50 chance. Much better is just pay to a pro and go fishing, instead of jumping on ladders with unpredictable result

Sir I love your videos! I retired from the Air Force and will be moving back to Houston, when having my house built, will it be cheaper to have the windows installed during the build? I'm pretty sure the builder is going to install substandard windows. Thanks in adavnce.
I'd suggest telling the builder you want to select the windows. (if they will allow that). I can help with selections.

i'm from Asia, there's no standard size windows in big box store in my place. everyone has different size of window.
why it exist in US? what percentage of people will buy such standard size window?
Thank you for watching and for your comment. The reason we have some standard size windows is because people who are building a house, apartment, garage, etc, can pick up a window that's already pre-made in a common size and insert it to their new construction framing. It's a way of getting a window immediately without having to wait. That only works when you're creating a new construction opening. Otherwise, you would have to order a window to the exact size of your existing opening.
Some window companies take a standard size window and just find a way to make it work anyway. Those are the windows that you end up having problems with later on because they weren't designed to fit precisely into an existing opening.

No, it's just that some sizes are very common. Just like a lot of car tires are more common than others.
