@@vet_draws3114 Exactly. I have them. They're exactly the same as Koi by Sakura. Including the chalkiness of the darker shades. I'm convinced they're just private labeled by Koi. For Colour Hustle.

UV reactivity usually means a dye has been used to make it look brighter on paper. I don't see any pigment numbers anywhere either. Definitely not professional.
This is beautiful Chloe!! For someone who doesn't work with watercolors often (and even for someone who does) this is gorgeous! I'd love to see you work with watercolors more often. Thanks for the review, I'm genuinely considering picking up a palette 😊
Love the painting. It reminds me of my dentist. Been going to the same dentist for over 50 years and he's changed locations many times over the years, but no matter where his office was, first thing you see when you walk in the waiting room was this huge painting of a Volkswagen beetle sitting beside a barn in a late autumn early winter landscape. He painted it himself when he was in med school and was quite proud of it, and always told everyone if he hadn't become a dentist, he would have become an artist. I always loved that painting as a kid, and it's still in his waiting room now 50 years later. Your painting is so similar, just missing the barn. I love it.
These paints look like they were made by the same manufacturer that make the SAKURA Koi water color set. Also priced about the same as the SAKURA 36 color set. Seems to be nice quality,
I think it’s because they’re opaque watercolors. Most pan paints are like this (they are not professional most of the time) unlike more professional paints that are generally tube paints or handmade which are generally more translucent (this is on purpose)
I have never seen a watercolor kit with sponges before and I have to say those look very useful and how it comes with a water brush and a pallet is very helpful as well.
This is probably one of your best pieces yet, i love your art and the different types of art you do in your channel! Have a very merry Christmas and dont stop believing
I don’t think this set does, since most of the paints and pigments he sells are sold individually (not as a set like this). Also I’m not sure how pigment numbers work exactly, but I believe he and his team specifically formulated their pigments to be more concentrated and longer lasting than anything else out there (except his Blackest black, which is ever so slightly less black than vanta black, but far less expensive and more accessible). I don’t know if I actually answered your question, but me point is, you should check out his website
@@Rapidashisaunicorn if he actually made them and didn't just buy a bunch of cheap tat from China and stick his name on it, then his background is a joke.
Oh dear, yeah, no, I definitely don't believe the "professional" claim - they'd have standard names, pigment information, and lightfastness ratings if they were. The website claims their lightfastness is rated as "equivalent" to ASTM I, which indicates that they've not actually been tested according to the standard ASTM system. And, again, no pigment information - I know they've actually refused to provide that information when asked, which is quite sketchy and extremely odd tbh. You'd be better off buying a set of Pretty Excellent paints at half the price - I've seen them as low as £14 on Amazon UK, though I think I bought my set for £20. They at least have standard names. Or you could get a set of Van Gogh, White Nights, or Paul Rubens paints. There's nothing about this palette that indicates that it's in any way of better quality than something like Pretty Excellent tbh. That's not to say it's necessarily a _bad_ set, but the marketing seems quite misleading to me...
Hey Chloe! Can you do zhc, vexx, Marko, or Mira byler on your next podcast episode? It’s really one of my favorites, and would love seeing you talk to some of my favorite youtubers.
Chloe I really like this. I started actually painting basic pictures 2 weeks ago. I can appreciate what you're doing here. It's not easy trying to get the water and paint mixture right. Thank you for the fun video ♥♥♥
I haven't changed anything - I just started filming on days where I've just washed my hair is all! Instead of slept on for days like usual haha thank you though!
I mean in the end just add more water for a less opaque result? I think that might be the value in these, they can be used for either effect since they are so pigmented?
It may contain more binder. To me, those colors dont shine very much. They dont show the richness and vibrancy of good pigment like Quinacridone Rose or Phthalocyanine.
they remind me of the superior watercolor set (the sakura koi knock off), and if they were made by the same manufacturer, then they're definitely student grade, plus you can buy the superior for around 20 dollars, but they aren't that good either so I won't recommend them personally.
We had a gigantic snowstorm and I think a bunch of states in the East Coast also experienced it! So I just went outside to play in the snow! My brother came and ruined the snowman that my sister and I made. He said “HULK SMASH!” and crushed it. I came home to your video! It made me feel so much better! I better stop typing now my fingers are numb, my feet are numb, everything is frozen like Anna when she goes to the sauna and gets her main dress when finding Elsa! Also, the painting was amazing and even though I don’t like watercolors that much that pallate seems so cool, I wanna try it out so bad!
For a normal person they may be colorful but as a watercolor artist they are not at all so much pigmented to me . If you compare them with any professional watercolor brand just any they are so much better. Even the van gogh watercolors which you have are more pigmented. They are just one of those palletes which are made for just hobby or for cards mainly for crofters as many companies do. The fact that they used their own names as compared to traditional names is the most legit proof that pigments were not used. Most probably are made from dyes as we can see from swatches which are maybe little light fast. But for the price they are just overpriced for me. Paul Ruben's pretty excellent watercolors( student range though as van gogh) are just so colorful lightfast pigmented and only about 20 dollars( just for reference) They will look bright when wet but when they dry they will lose all the shine and look just normal as other crafty palletes.
Agreed. The website claims: “ Lightfastness: excellent (equivalent to ASTM I)” without giving any background to pigment numbers used or tests done. I can’t see any professional watercolour artist buying into these - however, they seem fine for beginners/hobbyists/crafters etc and a good price at £39.99 though there are other student grade sets available for similar cost that give full pigment and ASTM lightfast information.
Not sure if it is indeed the same. I have a set that has the same exact colors, layout, and case. I paid just around 20 dollars for it from a local Alibaba reseller site (I live in Asia). This seems like a private-labeled product where a brand without product expertise will just ask a manufacturer to change the name and outer packaging but the product is the same. No shade, this is a common practice and isn’t necessarily bad. But I don’t think this can be considered as a true “watercolor” especially for artists. It’s a pain to use this to learn watercolor techniques. BUT It’s great for just simple coloring as it is slightly more opaque. Probably between watercolor and gouache but not as high quality or as versatile. 😊
I like the final result. Tbh I liked it when the snow was stark white because of the contrast but after the clean up and gouache added it looked real noice. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻🙌🏻
White Nights were my 1st " real " watercolors and I immediately set about filling out the swatch card, of course. So on the first swatch I loaded up my brush like usual and put it to paper and my brain exploded haha they are SO pigmented. I had to learn to paint all over again.
White Nights are also way more professional than these. Pigment numbers, lightfast information, actual artist grade watercolours. The only one with dye in it is Neon Pink, their version of Opera, which every brand has and every brand includes the fluorescent dye.
No culture hustle makes these paints, him and a group of other artists and such. It's kind of their whole thing, making interesting materials for other artists. Similarities can happen though considering the pigments they are drawing from, and binder options.
The colors probably got more and more muddier and less vibrant than the first row because you were using the water you cleaned your brush in to pick paint up from the palette.
NGL, these look like the generic ass watercolor paints you can find on Amazon with cute, cool, relatable names for each color... Doesn't seem worth the price honestly.
I recently purchased the 40 set of Mozart Komorebi Watercolors (includes 6 neons and 8 metallics) and they are super pigmented. They are Japanese style watercolours, beautifully creamy and gorgeous colours. When I got them on Amazon they were only £18.99 (I think they've gone up to around £20-22) so they are just over a third of the price of most other sets of that size/quality (I've seen so many people compare them favourably to Gansai Tambi watercolours). If you can get them over there I definitely recommend trying them out, they're absolutely stunning.
Seems a little sus that they claim to be professional grade but they don't have the pigment information, transparency symbols, or individual lightfastness ratings listed. Even most mid-range student grade watercolors give that info :0
They might be super colourful... but man do they look extremely chalky... apart from a couple of yellows and red they look super powdery and like the super cheap sets you could give a child D:
The website selling these watercolors claims that ALL of these paints have the highest lightfastness. Enough said. Anyone who knows a bit about watercolors will know what to think of that.
Exactly what I said when I first saw this set. And a professional set without pigment info? Seriously? Artist quality means that you can sell the paintings you make with it. How are you going to sell something if you do not know what pigments you used, which means that you cannot guarantee that your painting will not fade within a couple of months or a year? Had Stuart Semple marketed this as a fun set for beginners and hobbyists, that would be ok, but this is not a professional palette. And this thing costs 45 euros! 45 euros can easily buy a set of watercolors that will be be suitable for professional work.
The vibes with the music and the slow painting- AMAZING! And this piece turned out so beautiful. Dare I say it’s my favorite artwork you’ve made? I think so!

This makeup and swater look so good with your hair and eyes!!! OMG
Hi chloe, early today 😂👋 you are awesome! To everyone reading this, have a great day and stay safe 😁👍
Have a nice day as well😷🤗
That is beautiful, and I love the color choices, the red bug really pops against the blue background
Where did you get that washi tape?! So cute!
The vibes with the music and the slow painting- AMAZING! And this piece turned out so beautiful. Dare I say it’s my favorite artwork you’ve made? I think so!
It's low key hurtful that Stuart Simple chose to call the color closest to my skintone "butt nugget"
Thanks so much for doing this review! I'd been curious about this pallette.
Turned out sooo cute!! Probably one of favorites of yours in a while.
These look exactly like the koi sets, knock off that costs....more?
The painting looks so beautiful !!!! I really loved the way it turned out.
