Bryan hi, sorry for my bad english, im not a native speaker. I watched all your videos, some even 2 times. I love your work bro. and from first video i wanted to suggest you super cool band - Septic Flesh. These greek metal gods combine classic music with metal in such a cool way. Their work with Filmharmonic Orchestra in Prague is something badass. As first listen i suggest Septic Flash - Prometheus. But my biggest dream is to you react to all their songs, cuz they all are masterpiece. Love you.
Anaal Nathrakh are my favourite band but don’t worry I am not one of those precious fans. They are a two piece band, Dave Hunt is the vocalist and lyricist. Mick is the musician and plays all the instruments and the producer. They do everything themselves.
As was said previously the vocals on this song are not unusual for Dave as he does have a great range and has sung all styles of extreme and clean vocals throughout the bands entire discography. The falsetto operatics are him , his clean vocals are as great as his death/ black metal vocals.
Mick is a talented musician and also a talented producer and he handles all the mixing and production. As it’s just him creating the music and production he does use digital effects, adds samples etc, and mixes them perfectly. He plays the instruments just as precise and composes the music with many ideas and layers in mind, then mixes the traditional instrumental and the digital effects together to bring his ideas to life. Yes the drums are programmed but the live band drummer plays them with precision and power.
The Whole Of The Law is the album that see’s Dave Hunt use his operatic vocals first to great effect, Extravaganza is a powerful example of this. The latest album Endarkenment is also a great showcase of his diversity and range. The band is also as diverse and though always extreme and brutal they mix styles and add unexpected elements to bring beauty to the darkness. A wall of sound is a perfect way to describe them at times, and yes they are not for everyone, but each brick of that wall has a surprise and they never cease to amaze and aren’t afraid to do the unexpected.
I love them and as brutal and crazy as they can get, as dark as they can be, they always make me smile . Their creative abilities and nothing is taboo attitude keeps them fresh and original for me. I love all their albums, a wonderful diverse discography, and hope a lot of people give them a chance and a fair listen. I do understand though they aren’t for everyone and I can appreciate why.
I thought you gave a fair and respectful review , not being a fan of their extreme style, and I think you are great for giving such an honest response and giving them their due for their musicianship and ability.
I’m new here but from what I’ve seen so far you are doing a great thing here bringing bands to everyone who may not always get exposure and you honestly give your opinion with respect and an open mind , a character attribute sadly missing from a lot of other channels.

Great video review this and as you said he does a good job expressing his honest opinion and his thoughts on the song, even if it's not something he would usually listen too, we definitely need more reviewers like this!
On a side note 'Hold your children close and pray for oblivion' is one of my overall favorite songs from the band, and this album was what got me properly into AN. The earliest album I have listened to so far is 'Domine Non Es Dignus (2004)', which actually has the first song of theirs I ever heard, many years ago...

Playing live, they are often joined by Nicholas Barker (Dimmu Borgir, Lock Up etc) on drums, and Shane Embury (Napalm Death and many many more) on bass. One of the most intense experiences I've ever had going to a concert.

I had a grindcore period in my teens/early 20's and Anaal Nathrakh was one of my favorite bands during that time.
They also incorporate elements from other extreme genres like black metal and death metal, which you also picked up on.
And yeah, wall of sound is definitely the appropriate term haha, it just hits you right in the face!

Yup there's only 2 members in the band: Dave Hunt on vocals, and Mick Kenny who does everything else. When playing live they have other members join them on stage, but as far as the actual recording of the music it's just them.
Listen to the live version of Anesthetize by porcupine tree. You won't be disappointed.
that wall of noise is the perfect explanation of black metal! imagine something so heavy but so constant it's hypnotic. that's black metal. you've reviewed bands like vintersorg and anaal nathrack which have a straight black metal base but vere of into other genres. to give you a good idea of great modern black metal j would suggest. leviathan - fucking your ghost in chains of ice. Anaal Nathrakh is Old English for A Serpents Breath. They literally want you to hear their songs and think, this is the end of the world by nuclear holocaust.
I think you could revisit Anaal Nathrakh at some point in future. They released a new album last October and it was phenomenal. I ranked the album best metal album of 2020. But they have changed their sound little bit from what you heard here and on the new album they utilize a lot more clean singing and those operatic vocals. Music is also more melodic in my opinion and at some points it sounds like old school melodeath in style of At the Gates. So of course from the newest album we have singles Endarkenment and The Age of Starlight Ends but also really great tracks like Feeding the death Machine, Create Art Though the World May Perish, Singularity and Requiem.

Honestly the thumbnails give me the most work :) Even if I didn't really connect with the band I try to say something nice and/or thoughtful about them -- both in the video and in the thumbnail -- but unlike during the reaction I have to do it with very few characters. And I'm sure people know by now that I am not a concise person when it comes to speaking or describing things :)

I did Vinshuka and absolutely loved it. I am very anxious to return to them and see what else they've done.

Please, maybe next week (?) give a listen to Neurosis! The songs "Sovereign," "The Eye of Every Storm," or "Through Silver In Blood" are fantastic ones that I think are decent showcases of their earlier sound, except for Sovereign, it's just a personal favorite of mine.
I second this, particularly "The Eye of Every Storm". Neurosis is such an amazing and unique band and one that has been largely ignored by most reaction/review channels.
Thantifaxath- (Where I End and the Hemlock Begins) should hopefully make it in rotation with this idea of difficult to pronounce bands
Hey man, you should really do When Crows Tick on Windows by Carach Angren for something unique. They are storytellers, heavily influenced by black metal. Really cool stuff

There is some good stuff in there but it is a bit bludgeoning. This may now be a phrase I use for bewildering bands - "That bird is confused" 😉. Death - Story To Tell. The band of Chuck Schuldiner who created death metal only to evolve the art into an entirely different area of soul, melody, proggyness and compositional skill. A must listen

Satanarchrist. Probably their "purest" black metal song, though it diverges a bit in the latter part. I love AN for their variety and breadth and depth of talent and lyrical genius.

Definitely an acquired taste but is definitely quality
Definitely needs couple of spins before you understand the sound, it is very intensive. But behind all the chaos and nouse there is a interesting structure and solid piece of extreme music. And if you focus, you can hear that the most chaotic element are the vocals, if you focus on instruments (and clean vocal parts) you'll realize that it's not as chaotic as it may seem :)
