How to Remove Straight Track Lines and Disable Auto Start
If you're an outdoor enthusiast who uses a Garmin etrex se GPS device, you may have noticed straight lines between when you power on and off the device at home and when you turn it back on at the trailhead. These straight lines are caused by the device assuming it lost you between those points and connecting them with a straight line. The same thing can happen if you insert new batteries in the middle of an activity. In this tutorial, we will show you how to remove straight track lines and disable Auto Start on your Garmin etrex SE handheld.
Removing Straight Track Lines
To delete the straight track lines on your Garmin outdoor handheld, follow these steps:
- PRESS OK and select ACTIViTY RECORDING
- SELECT Discard
Note: You can also reset the trip data to ensure the new activity or track, and associated trip data, will coincide with each other.
Disabling Auto Start
To prevent straight lines from appearing in the future and allow you to control the activity or track recording, you can turn off Auto Start on your Garmin eTrex SE handheld. Follow these steps:
Select Settings from the main menu.
Select Recording
Select Auto Start to toggle it off, or select Off.
