Mark Collingwood thank you! Nice to have you onboard! We've recently carried out maintenance on the bridleway from Hollins Cross to Edale (one starting at around 5:15) it's running sweet!
Thanks! With the weather clearing up more like this will be on the way, plan is to enable anyone to ride in the peak district and know exactly what they are going to ride!
I keep reading don't mtb on ur own, my mates still in pub lol fed up of that life now, so I ain't got much choice when I get my bike,. Surely it ain't that dangerous long as u don't push it too hard. Thoughts please. And cool vid.
I ride on my own probably 90% of the time, during the time of filming this I was doing around 80-100 off-road miles a week and never had an issue. Obviously riding on your own brings risks if you were to have a bad crash, I'd always advise taking a phone with you so you can call 999 if you have an accident and always make sure someone knows where you are starting, going and finishing and what time it will roughly take to get to each section. Strava has a beacon feature you can use to send your location out to someone you choose, I don't use it but I think it will kick off if you haven't moved for a little while, this is a paid feature though. You will crash from time to time, if you are on your own and it's a bad one you will obviously be at greater risk but maybe start out riding solo on routes you are familiar with and your skill level accommodates? I'm very confident and will fly down descents such as Jacobs ladder on my own however someone with less local knowledge and technical skill may be better off doing that in a group. Sorry for the essay of a response, hope it's helped! If you are local to the area or looking for people to ride with have a look for 'Coggers MTB' on Facebook, a large group with constant group rides each week
We used to travel along the broken road to the blue John mines when I was a lad back before it was closed in 1977....
