Do you have a tip for sanding because every time i get a lot of microscopic fiberglass spines in my skin

Yeah sanding fibreglass is not nice! best to do so fully clothed with a hat and respirator, in a well ventilated area, then wash all the clothes separately.

Thank you for the lessons. I think you are wrong to reinforce the upper part of the wing with carbon fiber. I think that under load the wing bends with its tips upwards. This creates a tensile load on its lower surface, and a compressive load on the upper surface. Glass fiber and carbon fiber resist only stretching, they do not work under compression. So, I think it is worth reinforcing the lower surface.

Hi, yes agreed its interesting to consider the different load capabilities between the carbon and glass and where to place them. That said, the carbon is mainly there to stabilize the screws, not the wing flex. This wing is plenty stiff enough with or without the carbon. :)

I sanded too much along the rear edge, which makes this step of fiberglassing a little more difficult. I brain farted and could have done all the major reshaping and sanding in the next step. I also didn't mix enough epoxy for both wings! However, since I don' have much experience glassing I was really struggling with the large wing and getting the fiberglass to roll under. I almost wonder for beginners if doing one of the large sheets at a time would be easier/better. Maybe breaking this step into three steps, or at least two might make this easier. Do all the patches in one day, and then maybe the full roll over sheets the next day. I was on the struggle bus with this step today. Definitely going to have some air bubbles and maybe some patching/filling in to do.

Yeah for sure, it takes some practise! As you say, you can laminate with individual layers. It will make the layup easier to fold/manage. The downside i find is of course time, and also weight. Doing the layers individually tends to use a bit more resin, and potentially not as well bonded to one another. That said in this circumstance with the Foil i'm sure it would be fine :)

@@FlukesKitesurfing I hadn't considered the bonding layers. They look alright today, not perfect, but not as bad as I thought they might turn out.
