Yep. Please make masking tips and tricks video. Masking is a part of the prep works and everybody knows a paint job can be only as good as the prep works. 🇺🇸
Hi Chris, very enjoyable video as always I've done a few 3 stage paint jobs and I never liked laying the pearl as I wasn't sure how much to put on but I found that most people lay 2 coats which is what I do and I always seem to get good results, watching your videos has helped no end to get used to laying these 3 stage paints so thanks for doing this for us🙏👍John UK
A couple of questions: Does the pearl midcoat pair well with a slightly off white/cream color, or does it need to be stark white? And, can cut and buff be done with an orbital polisher? Or should I buy and polisher?
Great video 👍 Do you think the colder weather was the main reason you got some die back? I sprayed the FC740 on a hot (90+) day a couple of months ago, but waited a little too long between coats and it died back on me.
No I don't think it was the cold. It's hard to say, some clears just get a little die back. Colder weather actually helps with that. If you wait too long in-between coat that can definitely cause it.
Pete’s hobbies suggested spraying sealer and basecoat at 16psi. Everyone I’ve seen on UA-cam spraying the 717 were spraying around 26psi and said there was more overspray but Pete said there was very limited and did great at 16psi. And he sprayed clear at 20-21 psi vs 29 like everyone else. Would love to hear your thoughts.
Honestly I like both guns. The Porphis is built a bit better, but Honestly I prefer spraying with this gun because of less overpray and material savings.
Great job Chris!
Thanks brother, appreciate the support!!

Looks really good! Isn't it better to use a white primer or sealer for white/ pearl paint?
Oh yeah that would be helpful for sure
A couple of questions: Does the pearl midcoat pair well with a slightly off white/cream color, or does it need to be stark white? And, can cut and buff be done with an orbital polisher? Or should I buy and polisher?
The base white is part of the paint code of the color. So not just any white will do unless you spraying a custom color.
How about the polisher? Is the orbital palm style sufficient, or should I invest?
Do you find that most paints match thr factory color, or do you have to mix at all?
I buy premixed. I use nason they go off the vin and there always several variances in the color so you need to do a spray out to be sure.
What kind of reducer you used to blend clear coat? And how you use it?
Thanks in advance sir
Just urethane reducer. Any brand will do
Great video 👍

How does the D1 compare to the Porphis PRD717 at 16psi?

@@GarageNoise see my last comment. Not sure what you are spraying the 717 at.
Is the "mid coat" pre mixed from the paint supplier?
Is it basically pearl pigment added to clear mid coat
Thx
Premixed yes, Its binder and pearl pigment. its paint not clear though
that was a nasty dent, looks good now
