- AFRICAN FESTIVAL is a colorful work with a singable melody and idiomatic percussion writing that brings to life the African folk song, "Siyahamba," on which the piece is based. Performing this work provides and excellent opportunity to incorporate multicultural studies into your curriculum. All students, but particularly the percussion section, will love the distinctive sounds and interesting parts in this grade 1 ½ concert band feature.
I remember this in 6th grade and our band director wouldn't let us do it at LGPE because it was too easy but we all loved it

Grade nine concert this year the sevens and eights practices for weeks the seniors did percussion and us nines got half an hour to practice this
