    From Leo: I have two G&L guitars that have the PTB system, (one treble knob, one bass knob). It offers a lot of tones that are not normally available and it easy to learn. I like it so much, I have converted a couple of Stratocasters to the PTB system. The trem systems are very responsive and stable. G&L seems underappreciated, but are great guitars. There are two more on my short list to buy.

      I know the back story quite well and it makes me like the "normal" spike-y G&L headstock just fine. I actually like anything about G&L that sets them apart. For example, the fact they just make better guitars and do so consistently. I've had a couple of good USA Fenders. I've also had a couple great Squires. So let's cut to the chase: G&L makes better guitars all day long. Every one I've played is great.

I currently have one of the original 12 silver sparkle Asats they did as an initial test run. • @tdunster2011
      @tdunster2011 4 роки тому

      What for ? Leo wanted to make better instruments and he did that with Music Man and G&L. He'd already started CLF research and that was his passion. Going back to Fender he would only have been an employee whereas with CLF he called the shots. As an example the G&L Legacy was a Paul Gagon design that evolved after Leo's passing. Leo, had absolutely no interest in rebadging a guitar he made almost 40 years previously - he saw the S-500 as the peak of strat designs and the MFD pickups as the future.

    If there’s a baritone espada model I’m in!

    I wish they made the Espada in Left-Handed, it's so damn cool

    I had an 80s S-500 that had the Skyhawk body and SSS pickups. Same surf/seafoam green color. Cool guitar but some dummy who owned it before me put Seymour Duncans and a Kahler on it and I couldn't deal with it.
    At some point they changed the S-500 to be a Legacy with MFDs.

    Pete plays a chord at 6:18 that he plays a lot of the time. It is super tasty after playing over the E chord. He walks up the bass string to F# or G. What chord is this?

    Isn't the Skyhawk is just Music Man Cutlass and Stingray?

    Having to decide between a G&L Espada and a Fender Electric XII is proving more difficult than I'd anticipated...

      I work in a guitar store and get to play everything. G&L hands down play better and are incredible value for money. Only get a Fender if you want a guitar that has the Fender logo and looks like one.

    Black and tortoise shell makes any guitar look great. I might have a new outfit in mind 🤔

    The dude from the Hellecasters had something very similar to that Espada... I think especially the pickups

    Hi, American here (from Fullerton!), long time viewer of this channel and I'll be visiting London in December. Trying to squeeze in some time to visit the Anderton's store. What else is close enough to the store to warrant some touristy visits so I can convince my wife to spend time to head to Guildford while there?

    I have a friend who works at a well known candy company in R&D(probably called something else, lol) no matter what they come up with the biggest sellers are still the classic flavors from the 50's, People just get used to and have memory attached to certain things

    the original bridge design became the modern g&l bridge. he figured that the metal block going into the body transferred the vibration of the string the way he wanted.
    also i bet the espada would be cool modernized, using a pair of z-coils. possibly be the first g&l 12-string? love my g&l guitars but wish they did more weird things like fender. RE-RELEASE G-200
