Too sick. Best Ryu version ever. I don't care about the tierlist, he's too fun. I'm not eve' a Ryu player and that mofo caught me having fun hahaha. I guess bland, dry Ryu is over
The editing to put the combos along with the highlight of where you are at must have made editing this single video so much longer for a slight change but it is so greatly appreciated.
The combo content potential in this game is legit insane. There's so many different routes that just work, and I've noticed a lot of the time you're not sacrificing TOO much damage by varying your route and confirms, so they really wanted to give players the ability to have a little combo freedom without feeling obligated to be optimal all the time.
This video is SUPER helpful for me to understand how combos work and what the shorthand is for this game! I saw the written combo guide, but too daunted by it 'till this video. Thank you!
I couldn't make much sense of this watching Max/Punk and few others. But watching you train from the humble guides helped me a bunch haha. Thanks Brian.
The coolest combo I’ve found so far is cMk xx DR sHk sHp xx DR bHp qcbHp lvl 1 Once you do the heavy fireball launcher you could end it into lvl 1, or do another DR sHp xx DP Hp lvl 3
Hey brian or the editor I loved when there was a list of music used for the videos because I really wanna know where that ryu theme remix comes from around the 13mn mark
Brian_F: Hmmm...a crossup will leave you closer to the opponent than if you started a combo at point-blank range. SF2 WW players: 👀 Sorry...had to do it, but I know this helps the newer players, so it's all good. It works because your jumping attack and their hit-stun are moving in the same direction and you end up on the other side of them. You're effectively pushing them into your landing spot. True since Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior. Crossups and combos make this franchise the father of all fighting games. #yepibeenaroundawhile #backinmyday
Ia that white bar in game or editing? Either sweet thats in game or thats some cool editing. Nvm definitely editing. But fucking sick, rad, wicked editing.
Old vid but quesrion - is ryu good to use w modern controls? Or better yet, I’ve never played street fighter. I play NRS games. My question is, for people like me who our street fighter beginners but not fighting game beginners, what control set up should you use? I’m looking around it seems like modern controls are quite powerful. And I have seen people that are competitive players using them. Some say modern controls are broken/game busting. These are just things I’ve seen, I don’t actually know, that’s why I’m asking. There is a lot of information on this game and it’s a bit overwhelming.
I'm doing my first ever tournament the day that the open beta comes out with no other experience besides practicing in the demo. So this is a real life saver since I'm learning ryu
@@ChaoticRhetoric thank you, where do you find out about what tournaments are happening? When I Google online Street Fighter tournament nothing comes up
Some attacks are allowed to cancel their animations into other attacks. This is performed simply by inputting the second attack as soon as the first attack hits. Brian has a guide to Street Fighter's combo system here: ua-cam.com/video/l4FAF22_2W4/v-deo.html (timestamp is the part on special cancels)
I have always loved how cool Ryu is, but after a short time playing him he feels too basic (as he should be, after all). Now I'm trying the demo and he's a ton of fun, he has so many combo routes and the old man hits like a truck.
Coming from anime games, why does Street Fighter use crMP, QCB+MK, etc. instead of numpad notation? It feels much harder to read and also less universal, as it uses English prefixes that not everyone might understand. That said, I am really enjoying the combo structure of SF6, especially the drive rush extensions! Adds a lot of depth.
Just Capcom notation pal. Some prefer numpad notation, others Capcom notation. Same with using Jab, strong, fierce Short, Forward, Roundhouse. People use what they find comfortable and grew up with. Convention for SF has always been Capcom notation
denjin charge and hashogeki are some of the coolest additions to the character
denjin hashogeki is awesome
It is SO cool, it makes me sad that you don't have it on modern controls ;3;
@@EliTheGleason You have both with modern controls. Same motions as in classic mode (22P and 214P)

Not really, dropping in text and highlighting it for a few frames is nothing
However much effort it was I super appreciate it, makes it so much easier to follow, hoping to see more vids like this!
Having the VA-11 HALL-A music playing while you work on the combos threw me for such a loop but I’m absolutely for it
VA-11 HALL-A is so cool. It took me a couple minutes of wondering "hmm, where have I heard this before?" to figure it out but its so good.
The music going in sync with CPU's combo around 11:49 to start the theme was super cool.
Great work showing the commands and highlighting them as they happen on screen. Good work Mr Editor
ryu is more complex now, but at the same time is still easy to play the basics, AAAND he does a LOT of damage, its gonna be a good year for ryu mains
Great job mr. Editor, that highlight on the combos are super helpful

Creativity is back in street fighter 😊
nice soundtrack choices for this video
Brian, you should watch the Bafael videos on Ryu and Luke in SF6. Waaay more comprehensive than the guide you used in this video imo.
Shoutouts to Gabraham giving P2 Ryu in the thumbnail a blue headband.
It's always the little details that are the best
10:30 I appreciate the little zoom on the face
As a guilty gear refugee im really interested on SF6, the game looks pretty saucy.

Just by playing against level 8 CPU Luke you see how much more complex Ryu is.

In my experience, not that different for both pad and stick. Macros focus on mp+mk (drive parry) and hp+hk (drive impact) for controller

Those combos don't look so good. Why not just copy level 8 CPU combos...
And that improve from there. Cuz level 8 CPU is nowhere near optimal either.
