In 1977, Joe Hayden lost 18 out of 20 chess games. His only wins were against his mom and a guy who quit playing in the middle of the game. How embarrassing.

Joe really got hit with the "ez" by a 7 year old
Lol got reked
I like to imagine that rather than each person having their own board, they were instead all playing on 1 board at the same time, and someone kept hurriedly swapping the pieces out each turn
🤔🤔🤔
Stowell Fulton, 7, of Atlantic City: "gg ez"
People can be cruel, like headline writers. But do you know how brave you have to be to set something up like that in the first place? Kudos to Joe.
I don't think he knew hardly anything. It takes world class GMs, IMs and maybe a few Masters to realistically attempt this. Fischer, Spassky, Petrosian, Judit Polgar are examples. This guy was delusional and/or knew nothing.
It was probably worse than it sounds...You know his mom felt bad for him and threw their game.😅
That “sigh” was truly brutal
Stowell vs Joe is gonna be the plot line for Queen's Gambit 2
That quote from Stowell must've been a real sting for Joe!
Getting dunked on by a 7 year old in a chess match must be pretty humbling
Once again, great video!
Does anybody know the music our charming and illustrious raconteur plays in the background?
Joe didn't google en passant
Love the newspaper headlines! And it definitely sounds like an event a 17 year old would come up with lol.
He could have done better pulling the trick where you play one opponent's moves on another board, and win against his mom, meaning he would win a majority of the games.
Victory by intimation?
So where is Joe now? And has he ever lived this down?
Wow this just keeps unfolding and unfolding
Thanks for all your work on your videos 👍 love your channel
Poor Joe
Thanks for my smile on this video! During WW2 my father worked on British merchant marine convoys supplying war materials to England. During 2 separate trips the ships were torpedoed by German submarines. He and some of his other comrades were picked up from their life raft by another ship (twice). After escaping death 2 times this way, father decided to jump ship in New York. However by coercion he was inducted into the US Army April, 1943 or get sent back to Hong Kong. Father served in Al Levy's unit the 288th (Chinese regiment) Field Artillery Observation Battalion under General Patton. Could you find out and tell me about the plight of unit 288th during WW2? A fan who just found your channel... Thanks!
Who purchased all the chess sets? I'm imagining that poor Joe went and bought 180 chess sets, set them up on tables, and got only 20 players. Poor kid, that would be a financial setback for a teen, unless his family was kinda wealthy.
