In 1989 I was in the throes of an out of control drug addiction many of my days were spent here mainly around the area of 24th & berks, 19th & Diamond & the 3 S's, on the last day of 1995 I surrendered & checked into detox with a 28 day stay at an inpatient drug rehab, while most of the places depicted in this vid are long gone it brings back lasting memories of a lost soul trying (hoping) to be found. The track In The Shadows tells my story as I was living in the shadows, hiding from the light of the darkness of my life. What an amazing video this is & the song is absolutely incredible. I posted this video on my Facebook page just to turn people on to the song. By the way on 12/31/19 I celebrated 24 years of living without the use of drugs or alcohol.

I remember days in the 80's with my mother, my brother and sisters in the cold, in philly, surrounded by project buildings, trains and living in a tiny basement apartment that looked like an old bar, tough times but we're still here. Philly raised me through the good and the bad times...

worked for Remco TV rental and had to do a repo at the Master street projects in August 1987. The security guard said do not take the elevator back down you will be beaten up and robbed. I ran down the stairs 5 stairs at a time. The guard couldnt believe I made it out with the VCR. August was a wild time around Master Street. Worked at 21st and Oregon.

I'm from 16th and Fontain in the early 80s I was a young teen me and my friends would walk up to the projects to go to the 50 cent house parties and drink 40s of Old E Colt 45 and Wild Irish Rose wine Hip Hop was brand new and slow song gave me the opportunity to grind with a young lady against a wall which was the highlight of the evening. Drugs ran the neighborhood which took me and my friends down a treacherous path of using and hustling as well. The city was grimy and North Philly was overrun with abandoned buildings and this was my playground

How so? Everyone wanted to be like NY? Those types of pj's were in Philadelphia, Chicago, Newark, etc; Philly was filled with them. I was a small kid when we there for a short period. The next year after we moved Good Times aired I asked my parents if "that's where we used to live?" because of the strong resemblance.
There's still a few of those types of complexes in the city but most of them have been torn down. NYC residents probably have other needs up there., that's why there's still so many.

Then you had the mid size ones like Grafton ave p's, Seth Boyden, Lil Bricks, Baxter Terrace, Bradley court, Hyatt court and Pennington court. Then you had buildings that weren't technically projects but still had crime like the projects--The Spires, Brick Towers and Georgia King Village.
