It's so nice to see an instructional video on youtube that just shows you what you're looking for and doesn't include a bunch of unneeded filler. None of the "Hey youtube, this is Gary today we're going to be prattling on forever and blah, blah, blah...". A lot of people who make videos could learn something from this one.

Bought this for my youngest to develop basic form for single hand kettlebell work. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxtaDAl93XF8wxJhssTtjIFjzid82wglva It has a nice grip on it, just a little rough so it isn't slippery. I was doing a few rotator cuff exercises to test and worked well for those movements I'd been doing with a regular dumbbell. Cool thing you can do is hold it in your hand for door-knob turns to work the forearm and grip. Note: it's small, almost all handle, but that's what I expected given the weight. Smallest I've worked with before is 15lbs, so it was kind of funny to see the difference 10lbs makes.

Great video demonstration. As a former world class wrestler (in the 70's...ahhh!! I am getting old!) I remember how physically strong the communist block athletes were...the Russians had been training with the kettle bells already and they had phenomenal core strength. It has taken US athletes 30 years to realize how kettle bell training is a great addition to there training regimen. I was seriously injured over seas and thought I would have to give up training and instructing martial arts. In four months I have been using kettle bells for my physical rehabilitation and I have gone from unable to do any sports to being able to train and participate in martial arts, biking and mountaineering. Doing traditional weight training was doing nothing for me. Those that are haters have probably never been competitive or extreme athletes, so ignore the negative posts and get some videos made, I will be watching them! Thanks brother!!!!

Very nice technique indeed. There are so many people doing KB's wrong out there because they just will not take the time to learn the basics. As usual with most is 'I want to be advanced on day1' The KB is utterly unforgiving to bad practice. I still think that the KB is the ultimate fitness tool and well done for enforcing that. Subscribed.

I have just started working with a certified KB trainer and just learned the turkish get up which yes looks ridiculous but it worked every muscle group from head to toe I love kettlebells and the strength I am gaining as a result. Using your body's own inertia and core is what really gets you strong and fit not hours on a treadmill kettlebells are where it's at and if you aren't incorporating into your current routine you are missing out big time!

Thanks for the post. Looks like great form. About the last move done in the vid, the clean, are you using hip thrust to generate the movement as in the swing? Or is it mostly your arms or arms/core? I've always avoided this move as I never knew what properly drives the motion. Thanks.

    • @RdellaTraining
      @RdellaTraining  10 років тому

Luke, it's the same hip drive as the swing. It's a bit more challenging because the bell is not projected out as with the swing, but it's the hip explosiveness that powers the clean, as well. Great question.

What i can say is i exercise every day. 3 days about 60min-90min. And 4 days i do like 15-30. IMPORTANT -->Always do a good warmup! And watch your execution doing these workout. the point of KBs is strength and overall conditioning, you should be looking above 50 reps generally for the swings and and even for time, that can be broken down into lots of 10,20s reps etc during a wkout. and revert to common strength numbers ie sets of 10 etc for shoulder presses, squats and build from there with more weight.
      20 swings
      10 goblet squats
      5 rounds
      swing for 1 min
      30sec rest
repeat 10,12 or 15 times etc
      10 shoulder presses each side
      10 squats
      10 deadlifts with 2 bells
or deadlift high pull with 1
3 rounds slow focus on technic.
      hope that helps alittle

Starting to workout on light weight kettlebells. Is it just for practical strength or muscle building as well? Or would dumbbells be better for gaining muscle

This kettle bell makes me sweat much more compared to dumbbell with the same weight. Good one!!

Wow, without any wrist protection. Thank you for demonstrating these. I've done all of them, but it's good to check form. My goblet squats aren't as great as yours, probably because I'm used to squatting with weight on my back (like a sadbag, which I think I prefer...). But wow, you must have built resistance on the back of your wrist because your kb looks heavy.

If you are smashing the back of your wrists then you are doing it correctly.

Riyun72 I used wrist bands at first. I had the same probs. The padding of the wrist band did the trick

Scott is the best! The issue you are having is in perfecting your form. It is more than just knowing what drives the motion; it is the small finesse of wrist motion. In doing the snatch, you slightly thrust your hand up when the bell is over your head, distributing the weight upward rather than smashing into your wrist.

      tam hill
With the snatches you just need to push you hand up through quicker to stop it slamming into the back of your wrist, if that makes sense. Although I do know what you mean, I learnt the hard way too.

Nice for being to the point. Bad for not showing side lunge (lateral squat).
Fyi: a wrestling coach in Turkey would not accept new students unless first you could do a "turk get-up" with a 100lb kettle.

It would be cool to do these standing on a sit-on-top kayak... Would be so painfully challenging, but I can't even imagine how much more effective it would be.

Nice video, and clean moves! However, I’m a bit worried about him locking his knees in for instance in move#2. That is, he doesn’t only straighten the knees, but over extends until the knees actually jolt. What do you think?

its going to sound really light, but Id start with a 35 to get your form down first. Then move to a 50 once you know your form is good.
