Dude the mail story is hilarious. All around the world, all across time, contractors and craft workers are all like this. Thankfully, Garrett has a foot in both worlds.

Elden Ring sets itself apart from those other open-world games for me by the art direction alone. It's constantly surprising me with new designs and environments. Not to mention just having solid Souls-like level design that wraps in on itself.

That story about the box riddler literally made my blood boil. Holy shit. I'm so glad I've never had to interact with someone like that.
I've done the "gig apps" work for a few years and between all sorts of things, like incredibly uncomfortable conversations, mixed up orders, or creepy locations, I'm increasingly becoming more sympathetic to simulation theory, & irl NPC's. Maybe my soul has just been sucked out of me.

Damn Garrett is a full blown Soulsborne gamer in my book. Shadows of Yarnham is a ridiculously hard boss.
My eyes glazed over when Rocco started talking about Le Batman. What would he enjoy about this movie? No anime. No titties. This is the one Batman with no ninjas or assassins. No colorful villains. Rocco you shoulve just said "water is wet".

Bloodborne was also my first fromsoft game, although I bought Sekiro on launch day elden ring is the first time I'm playing a fromsoft game from launch and it's great! It recaptures the 90s playground vibe, I feel like I've learned something new every time I've swapped tales with my friends

You guys totally unlocked memories of mine from elementary school of going to Ruben H Fleet center & being terrified. That place somehow inspired the same feelings I get around extreme heights while being on the ground.
I don't take batman seriously at all and I agree that the movie was so dark that it was goofy but that just made me enjoy the movie even more! Batman in general is a silly premise to me and to see them take it so seriously was fun imo.
Plus I'm a sucker for a se7en-type mystery. And garrett was right, this batman was the closest to being an actual detective I think that made the story fun and interesting and it made me feel like i was really seeing an actual Comic Book story play out. I think it's just a matter of personal taste though.
The mail story is hilarious, did anyone see the inside of the house? Because if not, I wonder if it's being used as a grow house. He's only there 3 minutes every week? There's nothing he could get done in that time besides look inside and make sure everything's still there. It would explain not wanting packages on the porch, they don't want neighbors thinking someone lives there. Very sus all around

I don't think Elden Ring is a Breath of the Wild derivation so much as it is just the natural expansion of the open world-ness of Dark Souls, making everything even more boundless and interconnected and continuing the tradition of making everything you see tangible reachable places. What Dark Souls did to Demon's Souls, Elden Ring just did to Dark Souls (while also carrying over lessons learned from Bloodborne and Sekiro!)

Oh god I know which theatre roccos talking about it’s the Santa Ana mall theatre I’ve been there and it’s the most busted up theatre but if u wanna see a movie for cheap its there. Tbh I’d rather spend the extra money and go to another theatre lmao

I think Elden Ring is easier because you are constantly close to bonfires. Especially during boss fights. Half the fight is often the path to the boss rather than the boss itself lol. But compared to Dark Souls 2 that had inconsistent bonfires it works in Elden Ring because of the ability to teleport from level 1 along with the amount of content in the game and its open world with smaller linear branches.

No it literally is a planetarium. I have the other one near me in Portland Oregon. It's a big dome and the film is projected on the ceiling while you lean way back.

Sounds like Rocco wanted Adam West / Joel Schumacher’s Batman goofiness, but that “fun” with the character he missed I think now sits predominantly with the Lego Batman.

When Dark Souls III was coming out I scurried back to finish off this "Bloodborne" game that I bought for half price but never got far with.
I beat it in time and when Dark Souls III came out you know what I did? I started a new Bloodborne playthrough. Didn't end up buying Dark Souls III.
Bloodborne was just that good.
The highlight of my week. Another one for the books!
The interaction with Box guy is how I feel interacting with anyone out in public. I'm always miserable.

I get Rocko, I didn't loved the whole movie, but its confusing to feel that the batman is too dark, it's the nature of the character he is dark, but something that reviews kinda didn't prepare me for it and it's weird to see is people saying it's so miserable when it had a lot of funny moments in it, batman cracks a joke the second he meets catwoman, the Penguin was really funny, the whole cinema was laughing at the thumbdrive and the bridge scenes, the cats, even the riddler had funny moments in extremely tense circumstances w the "hello guys" vlog shit on the bomb scene, but yeah I'm with Rocko on a lot of it even tho I really loved like 75% of the movie. But the craziest take I've seen of this was Ludwig saying he didn't like because it wasn't like BBC's Sherlock.

I agree. The movie had a bunch of funny moments of levity. It knew some aspects could be seen as cheesy and played with them a lot. The scenes with the Twins were funny as hell, the penguin walking when he was tied, Gordon's response to the punch. It knew when to mix things up when things were getting dark as hell. Loved it.

I watched Dunkirk at the San Jose Tech Museum Imax that also has that planetarium style screen. I remember NOTHING about that movie. I guess it is kind of a fun gimmick for nature documentaries and outer space and Mount Everest type stuff, but for actual narrative films, you can kiss the experience goodbye. Unwatchable

I love the Picture Show story, that chain is more prominent in Arizona (from my experience) and it sounds like they didn't pay much money to spread it to California lol. It's a much better experience in Arizona.

I feel like The Batman was melodramatic and super dark to a silly degree quite purposfully. Like the joke is how seriously batman takes himself even tho it is made very clear he is just an absolute weirdo. Just my two cents :)

@@juan355 Kinda strange how Rocco always says his favourite kind of comedy is taking a dumb idea very seriously. Seems like he just wasn't able to get into this one on that level.
I felt the same way and really enjoyed it for that reason. I also appreciate the movie playing it straight the whole time and not poking fun at itself.

I had field trips at a similar planetarium in Salt Lake City - The thought of watching a real, non-edutainment thing that way is mind-boggling to me. Why would anyone offer that experience?
I loved The Batman, I think more than The Dark Knight overall
I geniunely feel like both opinions on the new batman are totally valid here. It takes itself so seriously, and the usual cast of zany villains are made so grim and miserable it robs them a bit of their usual Gothram Rogues identity. But in this world, in this film, it totally works.
And hey, by the end of Bruce's arc in this film he's a bit more hopeful. So who knows, that dark gritty theme might not be as heavy handed in future films because going forward he's a bit less dark and gritty too.
Glad to see Shawn and I both think the Hogwarts ride is bullshit.

thank god i’ve never felt more alone on an opinion than with roccos on the batman. ive since come around to enjoying the movie as a campy movie with some actually interesting interrogation of batman’s character that leave me wanting to see what he does in the future with what he’s learned here but my initial reaction was so much whiplash of did they want me to think batman was cool cause he’s a fucking lame nerd and accepting that that is true but also the cinematography and action scenes of batman make him “cool”

I don't think theres anything contrarian or weird at all about playing thru bloodborne first. its a good game! And everyone is gonna have different opinions about this stuff, but I think its by far the hardest of these games. if you punch through that one, I think you're good to go on any of the others. its relatively short too.
