    The Doors put out an incredible amount of material in just a few years. I always wondered how more great music they could have put out had Jim Morrison not died so young.

    The true genius of The Doors is they never repeated themselves, all of their albums were different, and all of them in their own unique way are great. Though I love all their albums, L.A. Woman is my favorite, so many great songs on that album.

    • @Scott-hq3jq
      @Scott-hq3jq 2 роки тому +1

      "all of their albums were different". 👍 Yes.
      And, they don't have a bad song. Even their 'worst' songs are still good. Their range is Good to Mind-blowing and everything in between. Most other bands have a range of bad to great. Well, in my estimation at least.

    Everyone will say, react to ‘the end’ , save that song until you’ve got into more of their songs... ship of fools, crawling king snake, back door man, cars hiss by my window... venture out from their more popular songs first, it’s hard to go wrong.

    Great song. Great band. Great reaction. The Doors were very diverse musically. They kind of had it all wrapped into one. Lots of different styles. Have fun opening that music box. Quite a trip. They got banned from many cities for being too wild and breaking the accepted rules of decency. Even setting off riots at their shows. Jim Morrison set the standard for the modern rock singer/frontman. He was too much for the old guard back then. Dangerous. First guy to get arrested on stage mid show. Rebel by nature with a well- read genius IQ. He was a poet and a charismatic visionary. Ahead of his time as an artist - and the music is timeless. Lots of rock n roll "firsts" with the Doors. Ground breaking band in every way.

    The rock solid bass playing was courtesy of Jerry Scheff who was from the Elvis Presley band. Lead singer Jim Morrison was so stoked with Jerry involved he actually got sober. What resulted was The Doors final album was a total masterpiece!

    From what I’ve heard he wrote this song knowing he was going to make a change soon (go to Paris , be a poet, writer etc) and get out of the music business for a little while. He actually recorded all the vocals for this album in the bathroom of The Doors office building in West Hollywood off of Santa Monica Blvd (they didn’t normally record there). This building still stands and I’ve used that restroom a couple times when it was a restaurant (“Hi Jim!” lol) Also he wanted to go back to his Blues roots from their earlier days). One of my FAVORITE songs for sure!!!

    3:34 'Never heard this song, this is a GOOD song'. Yes! Their library is sooo amazing that they have GREAT songs but because of so many other great songs, it's like they've competed with themselves to be overheard by there even more amazing songs. This album especially shows that because this is the type of album you put in and listen to end to end with little to no drop in quality. Like, their first and title album, too The Doors - The Doors

    It's funny because most people's first exposure to the Doors is "Light My Fire" or "Riders On the Storm". Those are ballads to serial killers and suicidal lunatics, but ballad like nonetheless. Jim Morrison's normal tone is intense blues. People are stunned to learn it's the same guy. They should always start with "Roadhouse Blues" and "LA Woman". Then they're not subject to the shock of his range.

    I just saw Rome Life's second reaction to the Door's', 'Roadhouse Blues', and he was amazed! He said he'd never heard that combination of blues and rock, before. Another rabbithole of immense proportions. "Waiting for the Sun', also ''Strange Days', and 'Riders on the Storm'. Take your journey through the first door of perception. Then, 'The End' being the second.

      Oh no, give him a chance!..
      (I mean these songs, especially in this particular order, may give him an impression of the doors being a group of one song and sound, you can even check other channels and you'll notice that for some reason those songs are always requested first, and people or like "ok, that's fine, nothing too crazy" and never react to more (damn I'm tripping balls, why am I even writing this?). The perfect first songs I think will be... maybe hits like light my fire (preferably live full version), when the music's over, the soft parade, peace frog and hidden gems like end of the night, moonlight drive, not to touch the earth...

    I love the doors. They are a band that you can listen to regardless of mood. They have a wide variety of material spend many genres. You should react on the live stuff. Much more powerful. That’s probably why I like LA woman so much because it has such a live feel to it. That was purposeful.
    My recommendations would be “The Soft Parade” from the PBS special in April/May 1969. Just an incredible performance and you really get an intimate look at the guys vibing with each other. It’s not my absolute favorite song of theirs, but it’s a song perfectly encapsulates their wide range of genres, sounds and the diversity and range in Jim’s voice.
