@@Ozarkprepper643 another part of this is technology now a days also makes creating music less organic. many times there is someone on a metronome or they are not even in the same room and have to sync up unnaturally. the best example is jimi hendrix, he was constantly speeding up and slowing down and the band had to listen and play with it and it produces a signature funk between that group. It is pretty much impossible that you will get something new that is organic that the radio or record companies would want. Let's not forget Jerry Scheff on bass that carries the whole song. He is a session musician and was hand picked by Elvis to be in his live TCB Touring Band from 1969 - 1977.
I've been rediscovering some of my favorite bands of the past and the Doors are front and center right now. The entire album L.A. My dad introduced us to The Doors when we were kids. When I was a bit older, he told me a buddy of his used to party in the LA scene back in the day. Went to a party where Morrison was and watched him take every pill, smoke, and drink that anyone handed him, no questions. A true wild man. Great song and great reaction vid!

They realsed two more albums as a trio still using the name "the Doors" Ray sang most of the songs. The albums were called Other Voices and Full Circle.
One of the greatest driving tunes ever written. The Doors are nothing short of legendary and my pick for band of the 60's, pure magic! I thought this band couldn't get any better then they get Elvis' bass player to smash out a beast of a rolling b-line!
I love watching this! I used to listen to The Doors as a freshman in high school (1981). So I was listening to "old" music, way back then. I love seeing your reaction to all these songs I grew up with. GREAT STUFF!
Ah, doin’ the Doors! With them, you have to see live performances to witness the charisma and magnetism of their frontman and poet, Jim Morrison. The lyrics are important, too, so bring them up on your phone, separately. Their live performance of “Light My Fire” on the otherwise stuffy Ed Sullivan show was legendary. It shocked parents and turned teenage girls on with his smooth baritone and raw sex appeal: "Light My Fire" was performed live by the Doors on The Ed Sullivan Show broadcast on September 17, 1967. The Doors were asked by producer Bob Precht, Sullivan's son-in-law, to change the line "girl, we couldn't get much higher", as the sponsors were uncomfortable with the possible reference to drugs. However, the meaning of the line was confirmed to be literal, as in "high in the sky".[12][13] The band agreed to do so, and did a rehearsal using the amended lyrics, "girl, we couldn't get much better"; however, during the live performance, the band's lead singer Jim Morrison sang the original, unaltered lyrics.[12] Ed Sullivan did not shake Jim Morrison's hand as he left the stage. The band had been negotiating a multi-episode deal with the producers; however, after violating the agreement not to perform the offending line, they were informed they would never do the Sullivan show again. Morrison's response was "Hey man. We just did the Sullivan show."
Jamel - By far my favorite Doors song. Love your reaction. This is a song about a love afair with the City of Angles. Classic even by today's standards!!
Agree with Ice, great song, but not the first Door's song I'd share with the uninitiated. At my most down moments I've gravitated to it, but it's never been good for me. Give me LA Woman, Roadhouse Blues, and Crystal Ship on the mellow side of their spectrum.
When I was in college, my roommate had a hell of a sound system. Every Saturday night, anybody within three blocks got to listen to this one sometime around midnight.
Yeah, you got it. Jim Morrison was always doing different personalities, different impressions. He was like a vocal chameleon. A poet living in his lines, experiencing everything full-on. An incredible, complex, crazy human. We are richer because he was here, even for a short time.
Actually, Elvis Presley's bass player, Jerry Scheff is also on this track. Doors always had a session player adding bass on the records. Playing live, Ray Manzarek just danced on the pedals.
Love your reaction my brother! This is my favorite band. Love to see someone enjoy this classic as much as I do. Thank you for your video, it made my crappy day better!
I never really realized that Robby Krieger was singing the lyrics back on the guitar until you mentioned it. I also love how the younger generation are discovering The Doors. I think they were by far the best band from that era and I don't even like all of their material.
Yes! Finally more reactions to the doors, you’ve gotta listen to every single song in their library, I suggest The Soft Parade as the next song or The Unknown Soldier.
Wow, man I loved your reaction. You explained the musician's instruments and the guitar answering the lyrics back and forth! The Doors captured the truth and the feel of LA in 1970, and that same truth and feel applies to LA today! LA Woman was recorded in 1970, and released in 1971. You nailed it! You're right, Mr. Mojo Risin' was Jim Morrison's alter ego. As the story goes, when Jim Morrison was a boy, his family came across a fatal accident involving a bus full of Native American Indians. He said that it was a really bad accident scene with a lot of bodies so badly injured, still laying in the road and on the side of the road as his family drove by. He said he saw some of them look right at him!! He couldn't look away and then he said he saw their souls leaving their bodies. Jim said that one of them entered his body!! He felt him inside his mind as a little boy. He said that man would come out sometimes, and when he got older, that man became his alter ego! Remember, the country was at war in Vietnam. The teens and 20 somethings were doing drugs. Everyone was fascinated by drugs. I might have only been a kid, but growing up in a big family in the city, I watched it all happen. The Doors were playing on every radio on every street corner as we all watched the teen boys being marched off to war. The average U.S. soldier was a 19-year-old man from a poor or working-class family and they were drafted. The draft didn't end until 1973. This amazing one of a kind song brings back my childhood days. Every teen and 20 something , even, kids were mesmerized by the Doors. I still listen to it when I want to feel young and wild. THANK YOU for your appreciation of this counter culture song . You're right again, it really is three songs in one!! You made it feel brand new! Gotta' keep on risin'! Risin, risin!! Yea!
It is Ray Manzarek on the electric piano and he had a an electric keyboard base for the baseline. Such an incredible amount of genius music coming from 3 guys with a poet that could sing.
I turned my high school best friend on to the Doors. I also turned her on to smoking weed. One afternoon about a month after she'd gotten high the first time, we were hanging out in her apartment. She had a magnetic alphabet on her fridge, and we'd had some stoner fun playing around with the letters. L.A. Woman was playing, and I used the magnets to put MR MOJO RISIN up on the fridge. "Watch this, dude," I said, and rearranged the letters to make JIM MORRISON. She later told me she felt like her brain had dropped out of her head.
I think you hit the nail on the head, Jamel. The letters of the words Mr. mojo risin’ unscrambled spell Jim Morrison. Freaky Deaky! Ha ha! Altar ego was what you were looking for
great vid, nice to see someone enjoy the song as much as I did when it was released. It is timeless. Great catch on Robbie Krieger's guitar singing the lyrics. For all the greatness the group had, Morrison's vocals, Manzarek's brilliance at arrangements and production, Densmore's sublime drum beats, it is Krieger who I think was the truly brilliant one. As you pointed out, his guitar was singing the lyrics right back at Morrison and I think that was the basis of their sound, Krieger "heard" Morrison and replicated his voice and rhythm on his guitar. Good job young man, good job.
This is such a terrific song. I think about moving out of your home town at age 18 or 19 to the big city and this is about the first week or two completely living up to your expectations. The first girl you meet out there is something that simply didn't exist where you came from. You're a different person and can't look back, almost instantly.
One of their big hits early on was Touch Me. It was just over three minutes, went to Number 1 in the US in 1969 and really showed how good Morrison's voice really was. Some have even said it had a tinge of Prog Rock. As much as I love all the Doors stuff, this one has always been my favorite.
This old man loves your reactions to the great songs you play and now I've got my wife hooked too. I've said this before and I'll say it again: You are one cool cat!
I was 5 when the Doors released this song, and growing up in SoCal through the 70's and 80's, it was near impossible not to know one of the most iconic songs about L.A., IMO, ever written! Being a teen in the very early 80's, cruising around with this song blaring on the radio...it was when SoCal still seemed magical to a young person!

I always end up speeding to this song. Only other song that does that is Mother by Danzig.
Definitely the best American rock N roll Band
Literally, one of the greatest songs ever created.
It shocked parents and turned teenage girls on with his smooth baritone and raw sex appeal:
"Light My Fire" was performed live by the Doors on The Ed Sullivan Show broadcast on September 17, 1967.
I saw them in '69, Merriweather Post Pavilion, Maryland
So many of The Doors songs are truly classic rock songs.
gotta love jamal's, 'going on a ride'.... I laughed hard the way he said that. I can tell hes starting to really get the doors.
He’s the lizard king... he can do anything, any voice! Love Morrison. That’s awesome, they shared your video.
You ALWAYS know a Doors song. Their sound is unmistakable.
Jamel - By far my favorite Doors song. Love your reaction. This is a song about a love afair with the City of Angles. Classic even by today's standards!!
"The End" is one of the greatest songs ever made. Check it out.
by far their darkest song, one of my favorites for sure, but i would never recommend it to a family member.:)
he did
Ruckus, are you trying to give this man a heart attack?
Agree with Ice, great song, but not the first Door's song I'd share with the uninitiated. At my most down moments I've gravitated to it, but it's never been good for me. Give me LA Woman, Roadhouse Blues, and Crystal Ship on the mellow side of their spectrum.
Agreed!!!
Peace frog is one of the best by the Doors.
smokestick 1 That and Love Me Two Times are my favorites
agreed
"There's blood in the streets it's up to my ankles"
Yep I love it!
highly under rated
When a young person hears this song and ask about it I always say it’s the best damn rock and roll song ever...
Jim Morrison, the lead singer, was known as the American Poet for a large part for his ability to capture the essence of things in his lyrics.
Mr. Mojo Risin' is an anagram of Jim Morrison. He was a magical lyric writer.
Robbie Krieger wrote this though.
Jamal always puts a smile on my face and warmth in my heart even I've known these songs since they were first released. He has a true gift.
Jamall caught onto the end of this song so quickly. He said Mojo rising is Jim Morrison‘s alter ego.
Just think this song is 50 years old.
You must hear "Roadhouse Blues" also by the doors
JoLayne Skoglund...loved that album when it came out!
Absolutely. I think Jamal might have heard this song from other places though, still it would be great to hear what Jamal think of this classic song.
The American Prayer version for sure!!
My personal favorite. Thanks so much for playing this one. It's about the city of LA. Iconic.
Jamal he wasn't playing a part...he lived every word he sang, RIP Jim Morrison.
There is a lead guitar a piano and a set of drums making all that music which is absolutely amazing
Actually, Elvis Presley's bass player, Jerry Scheff is also on this track. Doors always had a session player adding bass on the records. Playing live, Ray Manzarek just danced on the pedals.
Best reaction ever to a song from my all time favorite band. Thanks for this.
Love your reaction my brother! This is my favorite band. Love to see someone enjoy this classic as much as I do. Thank you for your video, it made my crappy day better!
“It’s like 3 songs in one” !! That’s true, never thought of it like that!
Listen to the Soft parade, it's even more songs in one. This is the Doors, probably the most unique group of all time.
I never really realized that Robby Krieger was singing the lyrics back on the guitar until you mentioned it. I also love how the younger generation are discovering The Doors. I think they were by far the best band from that era and I don't even like all of their material.
I just watched The Doors biopic last night, man, this band's got some history. I don't think anyone will ever accomplish what Jim did.
Yes! Finally more reactions to the doors, you’ve gotta listen to every single song in their library, I suggest The Soft Parade as the next song or The Unknown Soldier.
"Five To One" and "Peace Frog" are must tunes by The Doors.
Mr. MOJO Risin, spells Jim Morrison. That crazy dude...Great song.
Beat me to it
Wow, man I loved your reaction. Yea!
This era of music never to be repeated; a complete enigma.
you can find every letter of jim morrisons name in mr mojo risin
Hhhmmm interesting 🤔
Yep...just rearrange the letters...so clever
@greg matthews...indeed!
@@gatorguyblue - That is precisely what an anagram is. Delightful, nonetheless.
Oh, wow! God spelled backwards is Dog, too!
It is Ray Manzarek on the electric piano and he had a an electric keyboard base for the baseline. Such an incredible amount of genius music coming from 3 guys with a poet that could sing.
ray also had an mba in econ out of chicago.... so he also dug lower input capital cost.
Tay is playing a Rhodes and Tack Piano on this track. He didn't play a piano bass on studio tracks.
Man , this ain’t now shit. This is your best video yet! The Doors will be a rabbit hole for you!
I think you hit the nail on the head, Jamel. The letters of the words Mr. mojo risin’ unscrambled spell Jim Morrison. Freaky Deaky! Ha ha! Altar ego was what you were looking for
Solid groove after 49 years...
I'm a product of the 60's; The Doors are my jam. "L.A. Women" is my favorite album from them. Thanks for reacting to the classics.
La Woman Came out in 1971 Baby
One of my all-time favorite songs. Used to play it all the time in my car when I lived there in the 90's.
Love you, Jamal! You seem to like everything, even if you can’t see how awesome they are!!!
great vid, nice to see someone enjoy the song as much as I did when it was released.
That you’re reacting to the doors and steely Dan warms my music heart
''makes me feel like I'm walking the streets in LA right now'' -oh memories
"Changeling" is the word you're looking for, and that's what he was, he said so himself.
Torn apart by his addictions so many end up like he did
Jim Morison was a poet. When I was young us guys would sing mo jo rising when no girls were around just the guys.
The Doors were astonishing. Jim Morrison had an unbelievable voice.
This is an insane song. One of the most ridiculous displays of a band that was talented beyond what they ever made. LA Woman is a culmination of what they could have made.
I love Hyacinth House on this album too.
"That's one thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain." - Bob marley
🙌
The breakdown after “Let’s change the mood from glad to sadness” is PERFECT
Isn't it, though💋
The word you're looking for is "Changeling". Look up the the song "The Changeling" on the same album. Really cool song.
*Jim said time and again that he didnt consider himself a singer but, a poet.* please do "waiting on the sun" My favorite.
