They knew they couldn't compete in the Chinese market against Huawei. Thank God I didn't buy it and I know someone who lives in China. Still don't have a release date for China but at least we know it's coming.
Explaining the design changes with paper cutouts is quite a good idea, that demonstration really made up for the lack of the device itself in this video.
4:48 " that's probably why it's not launching everywhere." It's not launching everywhere because there's no real competition on foldables except in China and Korea. Samsung doesn't need to have an SE in the US because no other manufacturer sells one that can compete with Samsung, at least via regular retail outlets.
It will be interesting to see how Samsung improve upon this for the next US iteration. It looks nice and it's a complete disregard to the Fold6 adopters. They should always give us the option of which model we want.
I wouldn't mind if this evolves into the Fold7, but ONLY if they hold the line on price. This was designed to counter the Chinese fascination with thinness everybody seems to think as "innovative" right now. Ok, you got a thin Z Fold, which can no longer house an internal S pen. Hope you "thin" fans are happy. 😂
No they need to put a bit more into fold 7. Minor, like gorilla victus, antiglare and less hinge crease. Better battery, 5000mah, would do the trick for fold 7
The thinner, lighter and closer it feels to a regular phone, the more comfortable and ordinary it feels. Funny how Samsung has only realised this now from lower sales in China, which is why they probably just released the Special Edition. I'd rather have an external S-pen than a Z Fold with an internal S Pen that feels like a thick brick. Even then, I don't even use the S-Pen on my Z Fold 4.
If they really wanted to test the market then they should've released both worldwide. Z Fold 6 and Z Fold 6 Ultra or Plus. Then they'll see which one most people would prefer. I'd personally prefer the bigger size.
That's an exorbitantly expensive way to test a product. I personally prefer the slimmer front screen of the base model, but to each his own. I find the thinner they make these devices the less premium they feel. Weight goes a long way when it comes to something feeling high quality. Make it too light and too thin and suddenly it gives the tangible illusion that it is flimsy when held.
@@vooligan9499 I'd have to disagree. The thinner design on the SE and larger front screen is what everyone has been wanting from the get go with Samsung including myself with a much lighter weight. No one wants a brick in their pocket and the Fold 6 is too heavy tbh
I still can't believe Samsung is only releasing the higher quality model of the Z Fold 6 in Korea and maybe China; it shows they don't care about their international customers. I have the Z Fold 5 and didn't upgrade to the Z Fold 6 because barely anything changed; it went up by a mm or two (I couldn't notice it was bigger than the 5 when using it), the crease is the same as the 5 (the SE 6 apparently has made the crease barely visible according to Ice Universe), it is a little thinner, has a more square shaped bezel, and the IP64 adding mild dust resistance. However, I have seen more people having issues with dust and debris getting into the Z Fold 6 hinge and under the screen than the Z Fold 5 on Samsung Community. The Z Fold 6 SE has a larger inner and outer display; I would love the outer to be a touch bigger. I use the keyboard on the front a lot, and it becomes challenging to type on, so the extra width would be perfect. The camera has jumped up to 200mp, which a lot of people wanted in the standard 6, the casing on the 6SE is titanium and more robust than the 6 aluminum case, the new hinge is much better according to testers, and the increase in screen size with the decrease in the handset size is excellent. Something many wanted on the standard 6, and of course, it is a lot thinner and better looking. The 6 SE has several upgrades and keeps all of the most prominent features, like the ability to use the pen and UD camera. I would have gotten the 6 SE even with the slightly higher price tag; Samsung has let many customers down because there are so many disgruntled people who got the 6 standard edition, and then Samsung released this with the features people wanted but restricted it to Korea. I hope the Fold 7 is a massive jump up from any previous model; if it isn't, I will go back to the S series because the S25's rumored features are brilliant.
You know this is some sort of a "consumer testing" right? If they hit it right, the next Fold variations will be exactly like the SEs. If anything, they might start adding an ultra version of a Fold.
I like the reduction in weight & thickness. I also like the increase in tallness and the better rear camera. I do not like the increase in width on both screens. I love the one-handed capability of the front screen, and when I watch wide videos, I usually turn the screen sideways for a better aspect anyway.
Absolutely. And the One Plus Open! They still far behind...definitely playing catchup whilst losing marketshare to One Plus and Honor Magic. All because they wanted to go cheap and charge top dollar, pocket high margins with the Fold 6
Why Samsung can still make the folding phone so thick, in many Chinese folding phone, it is still the thickest, such as vivo, xiaomi, HUAWEI, honor their folding phone has been able to close 8mm at the same time with 6000+mha battery, and Samsung still 4400mha battery and not have telephoto lens, it is difficult to evaluate😅
But I doubt there's no S-Pen support, as I checked the specs in S Korean Samsung website just now 😳.So, now in my opinion the old ZF6 with S-Pen support is better than the bigger and slimmer SE without S-Pen support, I suppose.
@meninw - The height of the paper models didn’t change at all, but the thickness of the phone changes when opened or closed. The position of the phone and paper models are basic the same on the table, the camera is in a fixed position, so the angle of view. All that said and that’s why sometimes you can see more of the paper models above the phone and sometimes less of the paper models. That’s pure physics working there.

Watching this and reading comments tells me exactly what has been happening. Samsung has always been about the outer screen being usable but not the main display. It is one hand use friendly but many people (myself included) wanted to see it become larger. But Sammy has always stuck to its guns and felt like making the outer screen larger will defeat the purpose of using it while open, which was their stance. I'm kinda conflicted in ways. I want it larger but if it's more like a slab, then what's the point of just opening it up every so often? It's nice to have that option, yes. But then why spend twice to only enjoy what you have seldom? Should the 6 Fold SE been the Fold 6 from the beginning? I don't know. It just wasn't their strategy. While people complain, I am afraid Samsung may be losing what made the Samsung Fold the Fold. Now it will be like the Pixel Fold. Or the OnePlus Open. Kinda like when Pixel went to Fold 2 (well, XL). @@SamGalaxyZ Listen, I'm not arguing this. As I said, I'd like a larger device and the SE seems to be what the 6 should've been all along. All I'm saying is that the reason why Samsung hasn't done it yet (whether it was a good idea or not) is because that was the lane they chose to be in and it seems a lot of users actually prefer the remote size. However, the pressure from other manufacturers is mounting. It would be a very expensive and probably not a profitable decision, but having a regular Fold and an Ultra would make sense and satisfy both users. But there's not enough in sales for foldables at this point to justify such a move.
Its about time samsung made a version of the fold with the outer display being as big as a normal phone. This is basically the initial premise if the first gen galaxy fold, that it would be possible to have normal phone screen that is also capable of doubling in size by unfolding with very little compromise.
M shocked that you defending on a big mistake that samsung stuck on it for 6 releases that bothers us a lot , i meant: the fuckin outer screen aspect ratio 😢
The tall narrow cover screen and internal aspect ratio has been the reason I'm still using the Galaxy S23Ultra (22Ultra before that). Most of what I do is media consumption. That big screen doesn't buy you much if there giant black bars above and below the youtube video, and I don't want to zoom in (it cuts off the sides of the video). The MateXT is interesting, but that's a lot of money, and not available in US markets. This doesn't appear to be a big enough form factor change to make me want a foldable yet
I bought a Z Fold 6 two months ago and I would totally switch to the special edition just for form factor alone. Bigger, thinner and the shadow black color way, I'm sold!
everyone saying this should have being the Fold 6 would also be the same people complaining about the lack of spen support. you can have it both ways, do you want a larger thinner device or a slightly thicker device that has spen support
The special edition is too wide and too tall. I hope Samsung keeps the size of the normal edition. I can still hold it in one hand when unfolded and this is important. And it fits into any trousers' bag. Compact and still a huge enough screen.
His paper cut outs are way off. The Z Fold 6 measures 6.04 by 2.68 by 0.48 inches (HWD) when closed, spans 6.04 by 5.22 by 0.22 inches when open, and weighs 8.43 ounces. The Z Fold 6 SE is reportedly 6.22 by 2.87 by 0.42 inches when closed and 6.22 by 5.61 by 0.19 inches when open.
I got the fold 6 on a really great deal I have zero regrets. If the fold 7 is similar to this special edition phone then I will trade in and get it in the future
luckily i believed the rumors about fold 6 special edition before fold 6 even started selling. Tho as a fold series user (fold 3/4) , nearly 2300USD for a tiny upgraded 1 TB fold phone every year is absolutely a rip off. That's why i skipped upgrading from Fold 4 and wait til a more significant model. Hope this Fold 6 SE will be selling outside China and Korea.
Very nice but but but.... The main thing the Z Fold 6 needs an upgrade on was the Camera and the battery 🔋. Half way there Samsung, you got the Camera but the Battery is so much needed as well. 4400 isnt cutting it.
I just don't get it. Why would I want a more square aspect ratio? Why would I want it marginally thinner at the cost of the S Pen? Why would I want the outer display (which I pretty much only use when I have one hand available) to be too wide for one hand? Why would they add more megapixels to the great main camera when it's the telephoto and ultrawide that are a little lacking? The Fold 6 is pretty much peak folding phone if what you want is a true 2-in-1 that excels at one-handed and two-handed use rather than being okay at both, and that's why I bought it over the other options on the market. If this is what the Z Fold 9 looks like, I'm not getting it - the S27 Ultra will presumably be just as "fine" for both one hand and two as any other slab phone, so why pay more and sacrifice on durability?
Alot of us enjoy having larger screens with better camera and storage tech. Non of us want to lose spen support. I think they should release two models yearly to satisfy people like you who prefer one handed use (of which I can't stand personally) and also an ULTRA iterative for crazy people like myself
I guess we'll have to wait to hear More about the s. Pen and the charge time. I'd like to get a fold.I currently have an s twenty four ultra. I could trade it in for a fold 6 for less than $500. At this point, with the deal that samsung has been running and then down the road trade that in for the better fold. I'm just not sure if I want to jump through all those hoops.
Yep they can get fucked. I had a Fold 5 and just got the 6 around a month ago. Now to see this is released pisses me off immensely lol 😆 All I wanted for the 6 was the 200mp camera and a slightly large outer display. Now this "Special Edition" isn't available in New Zealand. First world problems I know but I'm hemorrhaging money constantly upgrading every year for minimal improvements. Along with a cost of living crisis, sub prime loans and housing market turmoil, once again Samsung has let down its consumers. If we had more options here in NZ I wouldn't be using their products. On a more lighter note I woke up this morning with an errection of an 18 year old so it's not all clouds and rain.
I bought fold 4, upgraded to fold 5, saw fold 6 and it just didn't look much different. And this se is pretty much the same story. I'll wait for 7, only because the battery would of lost its chargered. I bet the fold 7 isn't much different.
the wider outer screen is a big plus but if they did nothing to upgrade the horrible zoom camera then not really worth importing, Ill stick with my fold 6 and pixel 9 pro fold and with the info from this video order myself a vivo x fold 3 global!
I'm upset that we aren't getting this jn North America. I've been using the fold 4 for 2yrs and I have loved it. Aside from the unusable front screen, as it's WAY too narrow to be useful with people like me with larger hands. It's almost impossible to type on without insane amounts of typos, so I used my fold 4 open 99.9% of the time. I'm due for an upgrade this month and the ONLY thing keeping me from getting the fold 6 is that they kept the front screen too narrow again when folded. It looks like the Special Edition is exactly what I wanted, and I would have 100% bought the Fold 6 SE if it was available here. Because Samsung decided to ignore us in North America, I will be switching to a Pixel 9 Pro Fold. You snooze, you lose @Samsung.
How dare they not send you one! But the rest of the market fretting that you are not getting one, don't be mad. Samsung is probably releasing this only in Korea and China because: 1. Chinese people are not going to purchase this. 2. They are using the Korean market as Beta testers so they can work out any issues from making it slimmer. They'll use the data from paying test subjects so they can make a more reliable and even thinner phone for the Fold7...for you guys.
You are not doing samsung any favors by being a yes man. This product is a shame and samsung should be shamed for it. Its for the greater good of Samsung
They should just make the ultra phones open up so we have HUGE phones !!!!! That's EXACTLY what we want..... everywhere in the world !!!!! The single screen be as big as the LARGE Ultra screen, then it open up to a GIGANTIC 2 screens !!!!!! That's what EVERYONE I've talked to is waiting for. Come on Samsung, get with it !!!!!!!! I couldn't believe the 6 was basically the same CRUMMY SIZE as my ZFold 3. I'm not upgrading until it's bigger !!!! And whatever company makes the biggest phone in 2025, I'm getting it !!!!! I agree with the others. At least this is what the next Z Fold7 or its variant might have in 2025!
What's the difference between the Z fold and the Zed fold?
It's the same thing but I still don't get why they call it Zed.
Zed is used by the British people here in America we say Z.
@uncleshermstick but why Zed? It's a Z?
What about the durability?
They should have put snapdragon 8G4, it is literally releasing today.
Yes thank you for the cutouts I was hoping somebody would do that
His paper cut outs are way off.
This is what I've been waiting for. So hope the F7 will be the same ❤
I'm digging the 16gb Ram n width increase. Not at that price.
They honestly just need to hit that 5000 capacity battery with the Fold.
luckily i believed the rumors about fold 6 special edition before fold 6 even started selling.
If this is what the Z Fold 9 looks like, I'm not getting it - the S27 Ultra will presumably be just as "fine" for both one hand and two as any other slab phone, so why pay more and sacrifice on durability?
cool you got the z fold 6 instead of this🎉
Alot of us enjoy having larger screens with better camera and storage tech. Non of us want to lose spen support. I think they should release two models yearly to satisfy people like you who prefer one handed use (of which I can't stand personally) and also an ULTRA iterative for crazy people like myself
Im still on my fold 4 so I will be upgrading to the fold 7
I guess we'll have to wait to hear More about the s. Pen and the charge time.
I'd like to get a fold.I currently have an s twenty four ultra. I could trade it in for a fold 6 for less than $500. At this point, with the deal that samsung has been running and then down the road trade that in for the better fold. I'm just not sure if I want to jump through all those hoops.
No S Pen support for this Special Edition
Very sad you don’t have that information
I am gonna do my best to get my hands on of these bad boys!!
When Samsung just realized if there are competitors can do better, and they did it. Unfortunately still for Korea region 😓
In what world was this a smart business move? Burned your loyal customers and made then question if they should ever buy immediately again
Most likely the cameras will be coming to the galaxy zfold 7
Galaxy Book4 Edge and Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 review when????
Great video. Appreciate!
I bought fold 4, upgraded to fold 5, saw fold 6 and it just didn't look much different. And this se is pretty much the same story. I'll wait for 7, only because the battery would of lost its chargered. I bet the fold 7 isn't much different.
6.5 with 21:9 is good. Exactly the same as the nonfoldable Xperia 1 series (except 1 VI).
So sad it dropped wireless charging support 😔 The rest of the phone I love a lot. I am going to Korea in March maybe I will buy it.
the wider outer screen is a big plus but if they did nothing to upgrade the horrible zoom camera then not really worth importing, Ill stick with my fold 6 and pixel 9 pro fold and with the info from this video order myself a vivo x fold 3 global!
So next time, not to purchase when they come with new Edition and wait for special Edition, or give offer to exchange free.
Keeping the same battery capacity is a mistake.
Wow they just took a big crap on all their customers who bought the Z Fold 6.
Pretty sure we buy more Samsung phones than ANYONE, here in the States. I would be highly disappointed if Samsung doesn't make it available, here!
You are not doing samsung any favors by being a yes man. This product is a shame and samsung should be shamed for it. Its for the greater good of Samsung
Big mistake not making it in the US market
Why should they? They are basically the only folding game in town in the US. No need to innovate for this market.
I don't want a larger outer display, it defeats the purpose of a folding phone because there's little incentive to unfold.
To the suckers here that ate the Z Fold 6, i told ya so.
I'm a One Plus Open fan!
Man, you look exactly like Steve Jobs :). Maybe you are the next him :)
They should've kept this and waited until next year to make this as the Z Fold 7.
It'd be nice if Samsung actually does this !!!!!
And has S-pen capabilities !!!!!!
That's another reason I like my phone.
The S-pen is great !!!!!!!
I constantly take pictures of words and need to grab the text off of stuff.
The future shouldn't be so frustrating....lol
:-/
If it doesn't have Spen support I don't want it
Probably less than 1% of customers use the SPen.
@@DarkoRoje i use it 75% of the time
Good video, very informative
They better update the "cameras " to make up the difference. Because I am still upset about the satellite 📡... s22U, s23U, s24U, and the zF6/F6 nothing 😤
Can some get me that websites
So why the fuck did I get my fold 6 for?
Glad I didn't pull the trigger on the 6, I'm importing this
The fold 7 better be this and more!!
It is a really trashy move with the thumbnail trying to trick people into making it look like you have the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition in hand.
Shame this wasn't the fold6 ,I hope samsung give fold 6 users a good upgrade deal i sort of feel ripped off
No S-pen support WTF same 4400mah battery.
At last Z Fold has a bigger outer display same like Vivo X Fold 3 Pro & Xiaomi outer display 6.5 inches
Why dont they launch this globally!
It's superior but I wish the battery was bigger I still love it
