So you’re selling me he was born in the US, raised in the US, trained in the US, goes to unversity in the US, qualified to represent the US, trained by his father who is an US pole vaulter but represents the country his mother was born in?
the swedish team were able to offer him more flexibility as an athlete I think, their athletics program is smaller so they could offer him a bespoke option (keep his dad as his coach etc) and he'd be almost guaranteed selection for the olympics etc (like he's obvs good enough for selection, but injuries etc can mess up the events someone might need to do to for selection)
