How great that Dan Curtis kept the video tapes rather than re using them as was common practice during this era. Imagine if the other networks hadn't been cheap.
At least the Leviathan demon knew how to disguise himself way better than Angelique/Cassandra. (I mean, one black wig is not going to fool Barnabas and Vicky, honey!)
This storyline was pretty cool! I know it didnt get a lot of love but it was suspenseful and creepy af. As always the wardrobe is incredible here and all 4 women in this segment esp Grayson Hall were the best!!
IMO, the show ground to a halt with the terminally slow, badly written and melodramatically over-acted 1970 parallel time storyline. While the cast members with talent (excluding a couple) were filming the 1st movie the scraps (excluding a couple) were left to do the series. It really hurt the show but the Leviathan story gets the blame.

The Leviathan storyline creeped me out big time when this first aired. Those creepy beings with the hoods and white faces. I'm still kind of spooked by them. That breathing thing behind (or was it the box?) the door was scary. First it was baby Joseph that came from the box, then wicked Alexander, then that brat Michael, then the thing grown up as Jeb Hawkes. It was a different storyline for sure.
The breathing was coming from the box and described as an essence, this was one of my favorite storylines and think that Nicholas and count petofi had nothing on jebez hawkes, he was way more sinister.
@@livviepayne8849 Jeb Hawkes may have been evil but he was afraid of werewolfs because the creatures were the one thing they couldn't controll thier animal nature made them immune to the Leviathan's powers unlike Barnabas who was a vampire but they controled him for a time.

THe Michael Leviathan character is interesting because its a demon in the body of a child to gain people's trust except that of Barnabas because he knows who Michael Leviathan really is. I think I need to own the entire series OR else watch it on HULU. I was not aware of the fact that Elizabeth was in League with Barnabas. Did he turn her into a Vamp? Does Roger her bro know??
Liz was not a vamiress, she was turned into a Levi than because she took the book about the leviathans away from David who was applied its keeper, she told barnabas that it was a devotional book with the strange symbols and she was going to investigate why David had the book so Barnabas made her one of them to stop her nosiness. Liz, David, amy, elizabeth, Meghan, Philip, bruno, sky are all leviathans.

@@eleni1968 as Barnabas was explaining to angelique and julia, they existed before humans but their race died out so they were trying to revive the species by having the "essence" that was in that brown leviathan box go up to take on human form and marry carolyn to re-populate the earth with a species that could be controlled by them, Nicholas came up with this to get in their good graces after the the "Adam" plan didn't work, how carolyn became a part of this is because her father paul Stoddard met a strange man in the blue whale who promised him all the wealth he could acquire in twenty years in exchange for his most valuable possession, Paul thought the man meant his soul, but didn't realize the man meant carolyn until that strange conversation he had with Barnabas in the blue whale, how Barnabas became involved is they told him they had kidnapped josette and would kill her and return him to vampire status if he didn't do as they asked, but he Later talked to the ghost of josette who told him that the Leviathans did not kidnap her.

I love Dark Shadows. It's a very interesting horror TV show. I watch it every morning at 5:00 on the Decades channel.
Just wish they would run the entire run. They always end it shortly after the Adam episodes begin, when the doc makes Barnabas human again.
I used to hurry home from school to watch this show. Its still one of my favorites.
It was on at noon at our city. So we would leave school, run home, watch it as we ate, and wait for the last second before we had to run to school.

Bob Cobert’s score & underscore for this show is fantastic. extremely underrated as a composer. i would’t be able to watch DS without it.
