Hey J and Amber! Aerosmith tour dates just went on sale this week for their final tour ever and the opening act will be the Black Crowes!!! I hope you get a chance to see them on this upcoming tour. I’ve seen both bands and they are so ridiculously amazing live!❤️ Worth a road trip to see the final Aerosmith tour and to hear the Crowes deliver their unique blend of rock and blues!
The tickets are so expensive over $300 a ticket at United Center in Chicago that's in far upper deck . A main floor tickets are $1000 to $2000 a ticket
One of my wife’s favorite bands ! She passed away a year ago this week ! ! Most beautiful woman in the world inside and outside ! Her favorite song was she talks to angels ! Cause my baby talks to angels now and is a angel now ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The piano is courtesy of the great Chuck Leavell. He's played a ton with The Rolling Stones, The Allman Brothers, Sea Level, Gov't Mule, Clapton, etc. etc. etc. Total greatness for decades. So much soul.
And David Gilmour too - Chuck was great at Gilmour's tour that included Pompeii a few years ago. Plus he gave some cool backing vocals too on Comfortably Numb, for example
That statement is certainly subjective and you are welcome to it of course. I love the whole album “Southern Harmony ….” in fact it probably is my favorite album if someone were to force me to choose but they have A LOT of really great stuff well past that album. Just personally speaking of course but I wouldn’t call it their peak. It’s only their second album. If they really peaked that long ago, they wouldn’t still be relevant. Again, just my opinion. ✌️
Me too! The Hot Chick of my high school asked me in our art class if I''d heard of The Black Crowes. I said no so she made me a cassette copy of Shake Your Money Maker which I still have to this day! I've seen them Live 9 times. Thank You Cody Baker!❤🪶
The Black Crowes we’re breath of fresh air at the end of the hair metal era. Just straight up 70’s style rock in the vain of The Rolling Stones & Faces. This is the lead single from their 1st album. You really can’t go wrong with pretty much anything from their catalog.
The band was not known as The Black Crowes back in 1988 (I think they had the name Mr. Crowe's Garden) coming out of Georgia... it was brothers Chris Robinson (vocals), Rich Robinson (guitar) w/ Steve Gorman (drums), Johnny Colt (bass) and Jeff Cease (guitar)... Producer George Drakoulias saw them live and offered to get them signed in 1989 to Rick Rubin's label Def Jam. According to the band, they did not get along w/ Rick Rubin at all, despite his agreement to sign them to a record contract... George Drakoulias produced the band's debut album in 1989, but they needed a new name... Chris & Rich Robinson claimed that Rick Rubin wanted to generate some controversy to sell records and give them some notoriety, and suggested rather insensitively that they be a southern rock band w/ the name "Kob Kounty Krows" (spelling 'KKK') and they were truly upset w/ Rubin after that... (They called him "sick") In 1990 on Def Jam, The Black Crowes debuted their new name and new album 'Shake your money maker'... and it was a huge hit, going on to sell over 5 million copies in the US... However, the band was upset w/ Rick Rubin once again when the album became a hit... Rick Rubin's name appeared on the album as an "Executive producer" (he was not involved w/ the Black Crowes at all in the studio). The Black Crowes eventually replaced Jeff Cease (guitar) w/ guitarist Marc Ford... they would release 4 albums on the Def Jam/ American label before finally splitting w/ Rubin's company around 1998.
Just saw them 2 months ago for the Shake Your Moneymaker 30 year anniversary tour. Most fun I've had in a concert in a while! Chris's presence on stage is magical and the whole band is tight.
That one and Twice As Hard are my faves. I first heard them on college radio in the mid to late 80's when they were Mr. Crowe's Garden. They're from my hometown.
Oh yes.. everything you love about The Stones.. The Faces..even Humble Pie's Smokin LP.. it's all there. My intro to this band and will always love this track.
I actually dropped in here to give a nudge toward Sting Me. When that 2nd album came out and it kicked off with Sting Me... I knew I was in for an EXCELLENT ride for the rest of the cd.
The Black Crowes first big album was Shake Your Moneymaker in 1990 (the album that had "Jealous Again," "Twice As Hard," "Hard To Handle," and "She Talks To Angels") but, even then -- the year that grunge was kicking off with Nirvana's "Nevermind" album, indie shoe-gazer music was starting its rise, and pop-punk like Green Day was only 4 years away, to give you context -- the Black Crowes' sound was retro (which was part of their appeal). Their influences weren't the bands or sounds of the 80s so much as the bluesy-rock bands of the 60s and 70s, like the Rolling Stones, Humble Pie, and Rod Stewart's band The Faces. I think you see a ton of that in music and fashion though. About 20-30 years after any given style, it makes a resurgence for a little while. In the early 80s, we had throwback 50s styles and sounds filtered through a punk rock aesthetic. In the 90s, you saw 60s and 70s styles and vibes becoming cool again. And even now, in 2023, you see early 2000s fashions are starting to make a comeback. It's all a big cycle.
Did you know that The Crows toured with one of your favorites JIMMY PAGE when they were super young Jimmy asked them to be his band for a tour! Check out some of their videos!
Guys, I have been watching your reactions to everything for the past 2 years now and never commented, I want to leave a comment today because I really appreciate the love and commentary you put into your reactions! Really appreciate it, greatly. I want to bring a personal recommendation for songs from a group I'd be delighted to be reacted to. This group is called Oingo Boingo and you have reacted to them in the past. My personal suggestions are: Capitalism (Such a fun tune with hard lyrics) Cinderella Undercover (One of the best instrumentalization I've heard) And my personal favorite: Wake Up! It's 1984 (my favorite song) Much love from Costa Rica, have a good one y'all.
My late teens and early twenties were infused with Black Crowes music. Performing covers of She Talks to Angels and this song especially was very fun.❤
The Black Crowes used to bill themselves as the only real "rock and roll" rock and roll band. At the time they were at their height, you could make a case for that among a sea of hard rock, metal, grunge, alternative and so on.
The Black Crowes hold a special place in my heart. They came on the scene during a memorable period of my life, butthey were especially loved by one of my best friends, may she rest in peace.
I saw the Crowes live just after they completed there first album at a bar called Club Soda in Vancouver BC. They had only had been on the radio for a couple weeks. Nobody really knew who they were. The show had maybe 50 people. They played and sang there hearts out so I bought them a couple rounds of Heineken and sat on edge of the stage watching them play. One the best shows I ever saw.
The 90s was such an amazing time for music I was born January 1970 so I had the pleasure of going through the 70s 80s and 90s experiencing amazing decades of music! And I love all of it but 90s music for me means something because that was the decade that I was in my 20s so that’s when I was out with my friends and partying, and just loving life so I love ALL 90s, R&B rock everything!
Definitely one of the bands on my summer concert list this year. If you want to hear Chris pour out his soul, check out Seeing Things (For The First Time). It's soooo good.
Love The Black Crows! Great reaction. I do have a suggestion, the band's name is Little Feat and they have a bunch of great songs, I would suggest "Fat man in the bathtub" and "Dixie Chicken". They've got a unique sound and are a "jam" type band. I've seen them in concert several times and their encores are like 20-30 of the entire band just jamming away. I think you'd like them.
Love the Black Crowes! Took the family to a show at a smaller venue here in Houston when they were touring on their first album. The first sign of a memorable night was when we walked in and heard James Brown's "Shake Your Money Maker" playing through the sound system. My then 17 year old daughter heard the first 4 chords of Twice as Hard and headed for the for the front of the stage.
Yay! my favorite rock singer, Chris Robinson. I have my Aerosmith Farewell concert tickets with The Black Crowes opening. This will be my 11th Black Crowes show & 4th Aerosmith. Black Crowes songs, Sometimes Salvation, Wiser Time, Seeing Things for the First Time, Bad Luck Blue Eyes Goodbye. They have a folksy side Amber would love album. Before the Frost Until the Freeze is down home, southern mountains feel album. Have a nice weekend fam. 💞
This song hit MTV, that was our introduction to The Black Crows. I bought the CD, but didn't listen to it a lot until I heard Hard To Handle on the radio a few months later. That's when the CD went into heavy rotation near my ears.
"Jealous Again", "She Talks to Angels" and "Hard to Handle" which y'all have reacted to previously are all off of the same Black Crowes's debut cd released in 1990 called "Shake Your Moneymaker." "Sister Luck" is another great song off that album. Yes, it definitely has that bluesy Rolling Stones sound. "Remedy" is off their 2nd cd "Southern Harmony and Musical Companion" released in 1992. They'll be the special guests for Aerosmith on their just announced farewell tour and I'm excited to be seeing them both in Detroit in September!
I remember a college buddy of mine went down to visit a high school buddy at his college for spring break in either 89 or 90 down South (East Coast South East)...came back from Spring Break and couldn't stop talking about this band he saw in a bar down there...The Black Crowes. MTV was still playing music then and the band got on the channel's radar....the rest is history...but it was amazing how "fast" they broke....Their very first album is a classic, to me they remind me of a mix of Mick Taylor era Rolling Stones and The Faces....
The Black Crowes are the very definition of a Rock Band. One of the best live shows that I've ever seen. They should have been bigger but the Two Robinson brothers, Lead vocals and lead guitar, fought like they were going to kill each other. Which limited the band and caused them to break up. They are back together now but I wonder what might have been had they not split up.
Love some black crows! The lead singer was married to Kate Hudson. Black crows were a big group in the 90’s and they had a sound that was new to most. Great song and reaction!
@@seanswinton6242 that’s awesome!!! I saw them in LA can’t remember if it was at the Universal Amphitheater or The Hollywood Palladium… too much of that wacky tobacco🤦🏻♀️
Love Them, Saw them opening for Tom Petty and The❤Breakers, The most favorite concert out of all my concerts, because it was a much smaller venue 👍❣️😍🎶
I get how you can describe the Crowed’ music as American rock, but truth be told, it’s British and European musicians who got into American blues, rockabilly & rock ‘n roll in the late 50’s to mid-60’s, amped it up and popularized it over here! Examples are The Beatles, the Stones, the Faces etc.
When these dudes popped up, music on FM radio was taking a turn. These guys came in just after G&R made a footprint and the door opened for the grunge style to open up. FM music was at a somewhat stale spot in the early-mid 80s which is why some stations even went to talk radio (you're welcome Mr Howard Stern). But by the late 80s and early 90s, it became alive again - thanks in part to G&R, Crowes, Green Day, U2 & Aerosmith. Indy bands also started taking up space in the music-sphere. Early 90s to me was a great time for music lovers.
This album called shake your money maker was their debut album came out early 90’s blew up big time in a great way. Every song on it is AWESOME . Can’t go wrong wrong with anything on that album.
More Crowes to love: Sting Me A Conspiracy Good Friday Blackberry Soul Singing (preferably any live version or Croweology) Midnight from the Inside Out Wee who See the Deep I Ain't Hidin' Appaloosa
My favorite Black Crows song is Hard To Handle (although I believe it is a cover that both Otis Redding and The Grateful Dead had previously recorded). It's one of their hardest rockers.
Seeing Things and/or Thick n Thin should be the next BC ya gotta check out! Also, In the summer and fall of 1999 Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page joined Chris and Rich Robinson and the rest of The Black Crowes in an extraordinary concert at the Greek. You gotta check that out as well!
Jealous Again, Hard to Handle, She Talks to Angels all off the same record, Shake Your Money Maker. The just finished touring to celebrate 30th anniversary of its release, tour extended because original was interrupted by Covid. Remedy was on the next album, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion
I got to see them six times over the years. Probably my favorite show was in 2001 when they toured with Oasis. Ironically, it was titled the Brotherly Love tour. ✌️
Seen them live several years ago and they are absolutely my favorite live band. Great energy and they sound so good live. The quarter bag of shrooms I ate before going in the venue probably helped too.
The Black Crowes will always have a spot on my life playlist.
Hey J and Amber! Aerosmith tour dates just went on sale this week for their final tour ever and the opening act will be the Black Crowes!!! I hope you get a chance to see them on this upcoming tour. Yep, their first single. 1990 I believe. The song that made me run out and get the album. And I listen to the ENTIRE album to this day! Its a classic!
There is not a single bad song on that album. Legendary.
Thought it was Hard to Handle?

Their first two albums are the best debut/sophmore duo of any American rock band. Period.
My favorite and almost unknown Black Crowes song is 'My Morning Song' from The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion.
They always reminded me of the Faces. Loved it
Love the Crowes! Sting Me and No Speak No Slave are both awesome and _rockin,_ and if you want to get taken to church - Seeing Things.
WOO HOO!!!!! LOVE THIS JAM!!!!!
Speaking of 90's music. I would love to see you guys do Babes in Toyland sweet '69. Also there version of we are family is really entertaining
The Crowes did release a 'live' album that, kicks some ass...! Get it...
I got to see them six times over the years. Probably my favorite show was in 2001 when they toured with Oasis. Ironically, it was titled the Brotherly Love tour. ✌️
Yes, you have to see them in concert. We saw them open for ZZ Top back in the day and that lead singer doesn't slow down ever!
Seen them live several years ago and they are absolutely my favorite live band. Great energy and they sound so good live. The quarter bag of shrooms I ate before going in the venue probably helped too.
