The thing about the P-47 in War Thunder is that the game’s meta does not play to the P-47’s strengths (good high-speed maneuverability, exceptional dive speed and acceleration, very strong energy retention, high top speed at high altitudes), but instead to its weaknesses (poor low-speed acceleration, very poor low to medium-speed maneuverability, poor climb rate). Really for the P-47 to be at its most effective, it needs to start with an altitude advantage over its opponents and use boom-and-zoom tactics-like how it did in real life due to its role as a bomber escort. Really what War Thunder needs is more varied battle scenarios, including air spawns for the P-47 and even custom battles where both sides can start the battle at over 10 km altitude (this would also allow things like the implementation of GM-1 nitrous oxide on the Ta 152 and the addition of the Bf 109G-1/G-3/G-5-which have cockpit pressurization and can be equipped with GM-1).
Agreed. This can be mitigated with a teammate using switch and bait tactics or by side climbing until most of the enemies are below you and you can use your speed/altitude advantage to Boom and Zoom them. However, the former requires a friend and the later requires good teammates and a bad enemy team, and as we all know, War Thunder players are somewhat unlikely to maintain friend groups at brs as low as 3.7.

Who would say something so wrong yet so brave?
Dude doesn't understand that he doesn't understand the limits of what the P-47 can do and he doesn't understand what his aircraft could do if the P-47 should've lost all those fights according to the author. TLDR: Pilot Error.
this guy must be living on another planet. p 47 on top
Can someone explain how do people turn and look at enemy planes at once ? do they play without mouse aim or am I missing sth ?
bro flies like an absolute goblin
p-47 is op with manual engine control the setup is 85% mixture and prop pitch and 0% both radiators with this setup you will never overheat and you will have more thrust
I've only played a litter rb, but when I was flying p47s I had a great time. So many guns, so fast, great climb, and pretty good survivability. I only really play arcade for the most part but for what it's worth I've loved p47 for a long time in this game, it's definitely not one to be panned full stop
"I still don't understand"
famous last words
and yes
I love the P-47
i would love to see you prove some one wrong in a tank fight
he got you because of la-5. that thing is a beast against p-47
Love the p47. Great ground assault vehicle especially in Tank RB. But the AD-4 with its mighy mouse is a lot more fun
Had a guy on reddit the other day say "P-47 is only good for ground pounding" LOL
Most P-47 I face don’t even try any fancy stuff like energy traps, or god forbid a stall fight, no they just...
run...
And run...
And run...
And turn around for a head-on...
And miss...
And run...
and repeat this cycle until I’m either dead of boredom, dead of .50 cals, or the match ends
Because how can you do a stall fight when you have someone sitting on your ass with only slightly less energy than you (technically more or almost equal now due to the turn to reengage)
Never joke about p47
Give the p 47s back their airspawns and this is a not a problem.
The J2M is such an unfair plane haha! I laughed at that part.
The p47 is totally beast on sims(every variants, but only if you know how to play them)
I resershed the almost the entire us tech tree in the p47, and winning 2 1v4
i love the p-47, the 8 50cals, the heavy bombs, im kinda glad it was put lower so i can use it in lower brs, lol rip
noice vid btw :)
Q and E are the core of American plains
Not when you are zooming on a plane going 700 kph rudder just does fuck all then
average german main underestimations
That title is a bold statement from someone within boom and zoom distance! 🦅🇺🇲
The mighty P-47 and the R-2800 always win ahahahaha!
If you play it right P-47's can surprise you
Simply a difference in skill
Did this dude call the D-28 "ok"??? That plane is a beast and one my favorite American props. When it was at 4.7 it was an absolutr monster and is still really good at 5.0 as well.
Im guessing these people who hate the thunderbolt are P-51 lovers
I would love for you to do this in the P-47N-15
The amount of people who overestimate this plane is just sad. In the hands of a pilot that knows what he is doing it is deadly. Also many people don't know how to play this vehicle.
What do you think of the german razorback? Any good?
I read the title I was like....wait what?..
damn you made that guy quit
Could you post a guide on this or something? Or could someone link a Godoy p-47 guide? I love the plane, but the only monoplanes I can really dominate with in America is an f4u with 20mms.
