The Republic P-47D was not designed to dogfight, it was designed as an attacker/support aircraft, its the OG A-10 where as the Skyraider was the next evolutionary step from the P-47D. P47D -> A1 Skyraider -> A-10

Asa guy who cut my teeth plating the A5M Claude I was STUNNED when I took up the P-47. I still can't seem to get the full hang of it, but the ability to take virtually anything on in a head on simply stunned me. An unstoppable killer in the right hands.

I once killed an HE 162 with a P-47 who thought he could out run me. I put my P-47 into a steep dive and held 800km/h IAS on the deck and kept with him until he panicked and dove under the ocean when 8 fifty Cal tracer beams narrowly missed his cockpit. A lot of players think you can take a plane and fly it the same across all different nations but reality is you need to learn how a particular plane flies and what areas it does better in compared to its contemporaries. In all these clips we see the use of the incredible engine power of the P47 to brute force through stall turns and diving hammer heads to outturn and preform reversals rapidly while forcing the opponent to stay defensive; the situation where the P-47 is most dangerous in. Vertical Fighting a P-47 is almost always a bad call for any other plane. However if a P-47 is low and slow it is generally an easy kill so these maneuvers are really only useful in a 1v1 situation where you wont get poached by a third party.

60% of my jet kills are headons I’m always fast, I always dodge when they get <.90km . I either fire a small burst or fire my fused rockets if I have them. 👍 I disagree with coming in from above. I always come from below with enough speed to energy trap them. If you manage to damage their hydraulics or wires they will be heading straight to the ground or mountain
