I practiced as a PT for 30 years. Very early in my career I was ridiculed for doing homecare because it was not real therapy. Well, I learned early on Homecare is a specialized skill. That clinical and hospital therapists did not learn. These were some of the first exercises I taught my patient after a hospital stay. Many said they never were taught these but were put on restorater/peddler (Bike) and stretched. I learned my job was not to teach them an exercise but that they CAN exercise. I simply started with getting in/out of bed(Sit/Stand) and rolling in both directions backstomach which in some cases meant getting out of bed walking to the other side to roll in the opposite direction. This progressed to the others. IF you fell and couldn't roll to get into quadruped you were stuck. This video is one of the best I ever saw with appropriate explanations and demonstrations.

The demonstrations of proper form for the exercises by Dr. Ennis were extremely helpful, and the overhead camera view really made it easier to see, for instance the proper elbow angle for the pushups. I'm a 50 year old woman and I'm fortunate enough to be able to get down on the floor and do a few pushups, and do a hip bridge. If I practice them regularly with proper form there's a good likelihood I'll be able to keep doing them, if I'm lucky maybe for decades to come!

Dr. Ennis mentioned some easier variations, and it would have been nice to see demonstrations of those variations too. For example, she mentioned wall pushups. A lot of people are unable to get down on the floor or support their weight in a pushup even on the knees, but if a person is able to stand then there's a good possibility that person would be able to do wall pushups.

Thank you, Mike and Brad! I noticed that people on UA-cam, who make exercise videos for people over 50, make some of the mistakes you mentioned. If someone is experienced about good posture etc, they do the exercise properly. What happens with people who have no clue? Mistakes can very easily lead to further injuries.

Dr. Ennis is demonstrating correct body placement. When she's demonstrating proper form for the clam exercise, and showing the space that should be between the torso and the floor, how could we see that if she were wearing baggy sweats? 8:51 It's interesting that you suggest her breasts are hanging out, because I don't see that.

IMO, it is more helpful to teach us what to do, not tell us you are “obviously” doing it wrong. Please teach by correct example. Don’t just tell us what you are doing is “obviously” wrong without showing us what is right. Thank you.
