The "part time pilot" put the skids on the middle of the uprights of the H as if he was parking a very small car in a very big parking space. Man those skills are something else!, Much respect to you sir! :-)
ScrotusXL that was amazing to watch - awesome skillz.
Soutwoods city
I'm a crew chief on a 1969 model UH-1H our department has that we use for search and rescue, woodland firefighting and personnel movement. She was called "Crazy Horse" and served in Vietnam. We played host to several of the pilots that flew her in combat. It was an honor and pleasure to meet and talk with these guys. What we use her for is child's play compared to their missions.
God made helicopter pilots so fighter pilots could have someone to look up to. Ha.
AMEN
Lol, I think its the other way around
Helis are hard but you can't tell me its harder than a carrier landing in a jet. Oh yea and one that doesn't hover lol.
I think it's super cool that a fighter pilot gets giddy like a child in a completely different airframe. You can tell aviation, among other things, is the love that binds them all.
Excellent video Mover. I'm retired with nearly 30 years in law enforcement and flying as a TFO was the most fun. I flew mostly in the OH-6 while on a narcotics task force in Southern California. Thank you for putting this together, especially for all the young people who aspire for a career in law enforcement.
I would have thought that flying as a TFO in an OH-6 in California would be quite a nice place to be, despite it being work.
What is the oh-6 used for?
@@seanfitzgibbon6323 surveillance.
It's so nice to watch an awesome video in which two cool dudes are being civil and friendly and clearly know what they are talking about and are passionate about it, and then a comments section full of positive comments and love for the video/channel. Just a really refreshing change from most comments sections. So thanks to you and thanks to Brandon.
So good. I actually got a speeding ticket from a helicopter. I pulled off the interstate to get gas when a State Trooper came up behind me and lit me up. He had a ticket already printed up with aerial photos and a description of my infraction. Those thick white lines you see on the interstate just at random? Those are speed tick marks. When you cross one they hit a stopwatch and time you to the next one, which corresponds to a chart that tells them exactly how fast you were traveling. 78 in a 65. It was only one point and a mail in ticket, but that revenue is what funds all those helicopters. They had a closeup photo of my plate on the ticket! Like you were standing there reading it. Crazy shit.
00UncommonSense00 It’s true when they state that SPEED IS MONITOR BY RADAR..... radar from an aircraft.... THAT IS AN AIRCRAFT HELICOPTER.
What state?
@@1981troublemaker They don't have radar that can be operated from aircraft for speed enforcement. All the use is a gold ol fashion stop watch and two known distance fixed points on the ground. Usually painted white lines at fixed points, very common on interstates and are put there by DOTs specifically for speed enforcement from aircraft. The distance is the same no matter where at in the state they are. So when you see signs that say speed monitored by radar, it means radar from the ground. When you see signs that say speed monitored by aircraft, it means they are using time and distance equations. There actual stop watches and devices for law enforcement that has a spot to enter the distance and then when a vehicle passes the first point its started, and then stopped when it hits the second point. It automatically does the calculation and displays the speed.
What a raw/pure/honest experience. How 30 people hit the thumbs down button is beyond me. Douchebags. Now go up in the OH. Great stuff SQUID! Keep it up. Semper....
they must be the drug dealers who payed for the upgrades and maintenance for the helicopter ;p
ah remember the days before the commies took away the thumbs down.
I think the content you have been producing lately has revealed to me a void in what's available to the public. I enjoy video's like this and greatly appreciate the effort of recording/editing this and sharing it with normal civilians. Thank you.
Mover, this is why I watch you. So positive to younger folks that may watch. Down to earth and you enjoy what you do and believe and know what you say. You also suround yourself with those folks. I just retired from 24 years in the Air Force and then worked 2 years as a GS. I am in the process now of trying to figure out what I want to do now. Your videos go a long way with me.
CWthank you for taking me along Great video .
This was an awesome ride along for me as well! I was a UH1 Huey mechanic for the US Army back in the day. I was married and already had the 3 kids. I kick myself all the time 47 years later for not getting my pilot rating! Thanks again for the video! God bless, and be safe out there!
Awesome! Aviation and law enforcement... right in your wheel house.
Great example of supporting a needed law enforcement capability while being innovative in how to fund it and maintain cost effectiveness! Thanks for sharing.
It’s been 7 years since I lived in Harrison County. I don’t remember the SO having helicopters 🚁. It’s nice to see the tools they have now. It’s also nice to see snippets of both Gulfport, Biloxi and the Mississippi Sound. Great place and great people.
Dude, as a former Police Officer and helicopter enthusiast, this was an amazing video. Thank you HCSO!!! (and you to Mover ;-) )
Awesome info C.W. I've got hours in H-58's and OH-6's and they are truly fun to fly. This was a great glimpse into a side of aviation we all know is there, but never really have an idea how it works. I also note the theme, if you want it, go for it, and you can achieve it. This video like others are great motivators.
@C.W. - No disparagement to any of your previous videos - this one has become my personal favorite, to date- Thanks much!
Another awesome video Mover. That helo is in immaculate condition for its age. One of our sons is a former Naval Aviator. He flew the SH-60 then went on to be a flight instructor at Pensacola flying the Bell Jet Ranger. No offense to fighter pilots, but I believe a helicopter is a lot harder to fly. I fly the Bell 407 on my x-plane sim and love it! Troy’s landing on that platform was pretty impressive. Our son did an Iraqi Freedom deployment assigned to a Frigate. Not much room on the back of the smallest ship in the battle group to land a Seahawk either. He has a T-shirt that I love. It says, “Maverick Cant Hover”. Thanks again for a great video. Troy is a very humble guy and an asset to the law enforcement community. (Bill from Slidell).
That transition into ground effect was smooth as can be
WOW!! I was impressed by how smooth it flies! Some different than a Huey!! I think law enforcement deserves two thumbs up for what they do. Wished I was young enough to fly for them!! God Bless!!!
I wish the same David! :-)
Wow - this is absolutely my favorite Mover video! Great interview, great ride-along over the Mississippi coast (I'm a coastal geographer and loved the beach/barrier island footage). And Brandon was very articulate in explaining his "ride," the instruments and upgrades, and his role in the Sheriff's Aviation group. He's obviously very passionate about what he does. Thanks for asking all the right questions!
A fighter pilot/author. You're a hero to young people everywhere. Thanks for all your content!
Very cool! Great vid as always, stay safe out there
Great change from the normal and seeing that OH-6 makes me rethink my airline decision, as a former Army H-60 driver, I do miss flying low and being able to hover! LEO and CBP flying carries a mission focus mindset which I also miss.
Wow - I really love the whole organization of this police department and the air unit - giving the opportunity to anyone is just amazing and an amazing perk.
Fantastic overview of the technology as well. I wish these opportunities existed im my younger days. I even missed the High school to flight school back in the 70's for flying the Huey in Nam. It's a big hole in my experiences.
Glad to see one of my local departments in this vid. Didnt realize we only had 2 helicopters though. Nice to see though that they keep them well updated.
Great opportunity and skill, glad things worked out! Thanks for sharing
what an extraordinary cockpit
Awesome video Mover!! These videos that show different facets of aviation are great for the kids.
Hi Mover.... OUTSTANDING! Always good to see that law enforcement has an upper hand.
Very awesome vid. The LT def loves his job too. Smiling from ear to ear. That makes a huge diff as opposed to someone who's just "showing up to work".....
P. S., Bell def. made and makes some awesome HELOS. y'all touched on that too. Thx
When I was on active duty, I was a supply guy in the Navy. I did aviation parts on the USS Princeton. The FLIR unit (similar to the one you showed at the beginning of the video) for an SH-60 was roughly around $1.2M.
That's one helluva bird these guys have in their arsenal!
2:36 "um, why are you tapping the gauge?" LOL Awesome video Mover, thanks!
Awesome video. I’m applying for Arlington PD and I’ve always had a passion for helicopters. This was the perfect video!
Great video, retired LEO, had flown with Sheriff's a few times over the years, did fly with a friend who was UH1 & Cobra Guard pilot. We did drug interdiction using the guard OH-6 in our area of Upstate NY. Again excellent video.
Great video! Thanks to the Harrison County Sheriff's Dept. and (a very articulate) Lt. Hendry for the ride along. I was stationed at Keesler from 1972 through 1975 as an instructor (USAF Ret.) and the area seems to have changed a bit since then.
Excellent video Thank you and Harrison County Sheriff Department
Informative video especially for young men & women aspiring to go into law enforcement. Glass panel and MEMS technology was very interesting to a geek like me. I always look forward to your videos.
Amazing content. Great footage and what great inspiration to work hard towards your goal. I came for the footage and left with some great tips and information! Thanks!
This is an Outstanding video, content and quality! Thank you Mover...
This one is one of the best ones so far. Awesome!
Great insight into the various missions LEOs perform. Great content, keep up the good work man.
Another great video! Thanks to all our LEOs for all they do for us everyday!
This is amazing. Especially how the camera works. So cool. Thanks for sharing Mover.
Another outstanding video! Thanks much for your efforts in putting them together.
This was a remarkable ride! Thanks for taking the time to show this. The pilot was super nice and super professional. By far, the most enjoyable video I've seen in a long time.
Great stuff! Thanks Mover!
This was a great video, in a way I wish that I could send it back in time to myself just before i gave up at 13.5 hours on my rotary license. I too could not afford it and assumed their would be no other way, besides the military. Your videos are proof that there is a way , and it can be done. Stay with it , if you cant afford it just be around the aircraft and get involved. Doors will open, just keep the faith. I will pass this along to my two sons if they decide to pick up where I left off. Thanks again
beautiful stuff!! love from South Africa
I bet they have fun with that camera on spring break!
Great video. Thanks for sharing your ride-along!
That's awesome! I love the "he is in no hurry to get back.. and I don't blame him" comment!
This is amazing. My dream is to become an Air Force pilot and listening to Lt. Hendry speak about his personal experience achieving his goal of becoming a pilot is so motivating/inspiring. I cannot wait to get back to the US and chase my dream of flying CAP/CAS aircraft for a living.
Awesome video thank you for sharing. I've always had an interest in helicopters. My mother was a UH-1 huey mechanic in the 101st airborne Ft Cambell,Ky. 👍👍👍
Please thank your mother for me for her service . I'm an Air Force Veteran . Is your mom still on active duty in the Army ?
@@bobshaw4063No sir she did 3 active 4 inactive. Thank you for your service. She got out in 83 from active duty.
That's awesome ! My father n law was a helicopter pilot retired chief warrant officer 4..
He flew little birds with the NightStalkers!! He was stationed at ft.Campbell ky.
@@davidjessee7701 That's bad ass. 160th S.O.A.R. are the best helicopter pilots in the Army. In my opinion the mh-6 little bird is the best helicopter. Tell your father in law thank you for his service.
@@Mass_hole508 thanks ! I will.. Hes now sight manager at Boston Med Flight... Still flying!!
I'd imagine this guy would have been a kickass pilot in Vietnam.
You guys and girls are awesome. Thanks for the great content.
Fantastic ride. Thanks.
Great video, thank you for sharing.
I love this vlog. I live in atlanta. I see the value in the fulton county sheriff helicopter about every half hour! Thanks
Great video! I can see where this program can be a great asset to the department. Thank you!
Very enjoyable. Thanks C.W.
Helicopters are just plain amazing flying machines.
This made me wish I had a time machine. What a cool job you have sir!
Awesome video Mover! I was the guy who messaged from facebook (I was visiting my family) unfortunately missed you but so glad you came to Biloxi/Gulfport sir! Go USAF! btw...He landed that like a champ!!!
Thank you, just brilliant
This was fascinating. Thank you for sharing it with all of us!
Awesome vid man, keep them coming!
Thkx Mover, loved the video, Keep on the good work, Peace from The Netherlands.
Wow what a great video. Thank you so much for sharing. Stay safe brother.
Excellent video. Thanks for the ride-along. And it was extra special as I was visiting that hotel last week.
Enjoyed the ride, Thanks !
That OH 6. Was probably previously army 160th Night Stalkers!
Thank you Lt. Hendry and thank you Mover. Amazing video
Another fantastic video, thanks for the share
That lad looked so young, but so professional! I wish him a great career and safe flying!
Very nice equipment fit, especially on a 1970's era helicopter, and a military variant at that!
These are the type of surplus military assets that should be made available to Police and Fire Agencies, not mine resistant APC's, tracked vehicles and battlefield weapons.
Nice interview with the Lt. Pilot and beautiful ariel footage. The map with GPS ident was wonderful to see in use and what a helpful piece of gear that is to help ground based units that can receive ariel footage.
I was surprised to see that the flight took place sans cockpit doors!
This was a really nice, interesting, informative and entertaining video on this very specialised Air Wing. Subscribed.
Thanx for awesome video, loved the full start and startin up the FLIR
He put it down on that trailer as if it was nothing!
Thank You Mover, was stationed in Gulfport.
love that whirly!
Really enjoyed it, thanks for sharing.
I got to go up with the Nashville Tn Metro police MD 500E one night. It was an awesome experience. I got to operate the night sun and light people up haha!
Awesome!! Thank you!!
very ccol, he fought for his passion to fly and he achieved it.
great vid, thx Mover
Wow. Great as always.
This was an awesome video, and awesome you can do this without being a prior qualified helicopter pilot
I think public safety wise the big value of the helicopter is it allows officers in pursuit to back off and the suspects to slow down so there is less risk to the public of a crash and they can choose to catch back up at anytime
I got to fly a Schweitzer out of Las Vegas a few years ago. It was so much fun the CFI said I did really well and should take lessons. Haha. I live in CA so that didn't happen. I'm currently hoping to get current with my PPSEL again, but flying helos is sure fun. I will do it again. Thanks for the video! Ex deputy sheriff here too. Be safe!
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Wow, that was some interview! Very cool footage and very helpful info. Did that helo just come out of the depot? It looked absolutely pristine and modern for being over 40 yrs. Thanks, Mover and to Lt Hendry and Harrison County SD for brining us along. Fun stuff!
Thank you C.W. that was awesome. 👍
Fueled this bird many times. Love and support your local law enforcement. 🌟 🚔 👍
Well that was pretty bloody awesome!
Great Video. Thanks!
nice Job,and the camera is the best Tool ever. Night Vision and FLIR is perfect. And the ZOOM is unbeliveble.
Cool to see the FLIR cameras they use in the aviation world. I've installed and worked on their marine units, they're badass. Thermal imaging, gyroscopic stabilization, ability to lock on and track radar targets.. definitely not cheap though!
Pretty cool brother. Keep these reviews coming
Really appreciate your content thank you 👍
I appreciate your picture
