I started the Zero to Hero course, and the support from Groundcontrol continues to surprise me. I'm totally sure this VFX western course will be a perfect introduction, showing just how much Groundcontrol cares for filmmakers.
I’m hitting like before seeing anything in the video itself. Casey, the Davinci Resolve and indie-filmmaker communities owe you many beers. Massive respect for all you do!
Yo Casey! Dude, you’ve been like a total legend, man! We’ve soaked up so much from your vids over the years. I mean, who doesn’t wanna dive into that Action, Sci-Fi, supernatural vibe with all those particles, explosions, and epic VFX? Videocopilot was the bomb back in the day, especially for After Effects, but now everyone’s trying to ride the Houdini wave - except, bro, it’s crazy expensive! You dropped some sick tutorials, and we were hyped thinking you’d keep it rolling. Then boom, you swerved back into motion graphics. Super rad too, don’t get me wrong, but a lot of us were stoked about Fusion being added to Resolve. For a bunch of us, it was like, “Yes! Finally, we can mess with VFX without selling our boards!” We plan our lives around these tutorials, man, they’re like fuel for our creativity. Keep killin’ it, dude. We need more of that next-level stuff! Peace out!
My God... I'm only 10% in and you have answered a lot off my editing and vfx questions... Thank you Casey..I started of my resolve journey with only colorgrading and it started with you and now I'm learning fusion and the whole process with you...can't thank you enough!
Good morning @CaseyFaris I want to say a big thank you for the incredible work you’re doing. Your tutorials on VFX and DaVinci Resolve are not only insightful but also so easy to follow. They’ve made learning these skills an enjoyable experience for me. I truly appreciate the effort and passion you put into making such high-quality content. You’re making a difference in the lives of learners like me, and I encourage you to keep it up. Thank you once again for sharing your knowledge so generously. Wishing you all the best in your journey! Warm regards, Sunshine
I'm sooo glad and thankful! You, Patrick, Mr. Alex & the "Davinici Dudes" do an incredible job and bring the DVR-Community miles forward. Love you, guys!
You know, I treated myself to an M4 Pro MacBook and I have been wondering what to really use it for. I think I just found a purpose. Thank you. This is quite generous!
Hey Casey! I'm new to Da Vinci Resolve and I heard the reviews were exceptional, but watching your tutorial done in such an intuitive way, you already have my mind racing to all the possibilities this can be utilized. Thank you so much for making the time to show the power of this application.
stayed all the way through - great content, Casey. It really is a great and thorough course - I managed to pick up a number of tips from it! Thank you.
This is one of the best fusion tutorial I've seen! the practicality behind every step is soo obvious and mind opening. Thank you. BTW i stayed to the end lol
Hey man, started watching when you released video but was so overwhelmed with my own job and later editing for own business and working in fusion, just yesterday i finished one of harder animations i worked on from scratch, took me some time cause of older generation CPU but in end it works well. Anyways i finally completed course, nice to see someone use similair ways around fusion and timeline to help himself. Great video in all means, even i've took something out of it, literally for begginers and even experienced people can learn something from it. I hope it reaches alot of people who want to learn fusion, cause this is probably one of best ones out there, full support bro💪💪
Having tried to watch others, I can say this is easily the best Fusion to Edit page tutorial on You Tube. Thanks for ditching any background music, and sharing your knowledge. The short cuts shown were as valuable as the work. Well done. 👏
Honestly perfect timing for me- been watching a bunch of your videos recently for a short, and this essentially answered every question I had that I was trying to stitch together between your other videos. Thanks Casey!
Always the best Resolve guides. Been following Casey awhile now. Thank you so much for your insight, lessons, longevity, and to the point videos. Cheers.
u can hit SHIFT+4 to switch to the EDIT page and SHIFT+5 to switch to the FUSION page... it comes handy specially when your navigation icon isn't turned on..
For paint outs like at around 01:15:00 ish I normally preffer to export out a still and do that in a raster editor like Affinity Photo or Krita. What are your toughts on that?
Man Thank you for this video Casey!!! I just started the video but I already know this is going to be insanely good! Also how did you record the Audio of the short? it sounds very good! Appreciate the hard work and keep it up!
Great video, the best on UA-cam, but I have a question, what should I do if a VFX video is shorter than the main shot, and it ends earlier, how do I make it last the same time as the main shot?
Hello Mr. Casey do you have an awesome video on tracking for beginners? I'm familiar with it but I don't really understand it. I'm a mechanical thinker. Thanks!
Yep, if you go onto my YT channel and type "tracking" or "tracker" into the search bar, you'll see all the videos on that topic. Here's one: ua-cam.com/video/F-Pr1GGmyVU/v-deo.htmlsi=z7wjvFI6s4luL-mK
Hi, quick one, could you have used the "Object Removal" for the Van? Yip made it to the end. Big take away for me, Opening the "Clips" to navigate between fusion clips - Learn something new every time - Thanks
This is great, but you could also explain for example what color space to put the other media in, for example images, that is not as simple as srgb because it looks weird
By default, with these settings It'd bring things in as rec.709. Which should work fine for most assets and images. It does look a little weird sometimes, but you can color correct it. You can also change the input tone mapping in the color management to something you like. It takes some time to play around and get it how you like.
@@CaseyFaris Thanks, i realized something now, in imput color space, for some reason the default in my project was set to "Same as timeline" instead of "Project - Rec 709 (Scene)" that's why the images i tried to use looked totally off, now it looks like it should.
Amazing tutorial, I have a question, please help. once i masked person with tracking then on color page added defocus background on same first node, but instead to have defocus on one video i have all videos on entire project affected. A bit struggle here, any ideas what is wrong ?
oh... because i lost all the effects, and you don't adress is, so I fixed by more trakcking, but then you fix it right after with keyframe and blend. Could be cool with a heads up and also a it more detail. Otherwise, great.
Download the FREE practice media here: www.groundcontrol.film/double-crossed-media?UA-cam&Intro+to+VFX
I saw tha energy sword in the background ;)
wait how is this comment pinned 3 days ago? 😦
Thanks for your dedication to Fusion. Quality Fusion content on UA-cam is rare, compared to AE. Please keep them coming.

Thanks Trevor!

As a cross-eyed cowboy myself, I am deeply offended! I demand a re-shoot of this video. You missed capturing my good side... both of them!

Amazing what is possible
Great Video! Can you guys do something like this in an Earth and Space setting? \m/
Super Merci
Great video, the best on UA-cam, but I have a question, what should I do if a VFX video is shorter than the main shot, and it ends earlier, how do I make it last the same time as the main shot?
can i know how much time did it take u to make this but in the movie version not the youtube version

I was watching for 5 minutes and I was halfway though.
Yes
what does the time speed node do for our paint node? Could we do it without it?
Привет всем я хочу сказать спасибо этому человеку за то что он лучший
Hi, quick one, could you have used the "Object Removal" for the Van? Yip made it to the end.
Big take away for me, Opening the "Clips" to navigate between fusion clips - Learn something new every time - Thanks
The link at ActionVFX - "claim assets" doesn't work? Thnx Casey, great course.
Thanks for the course but I was wondering if I Can follow along if I still prefer to use DaVinci 16?
Yes, but color management and a few fx will be different. I'd reccomend upgrading to 19 if you can.
Casey: "These VFX elements are usually shot on black"
FX Artists: 😵😵
I want to select specific clips among the many clips scattered in the time line. How do I select specific clips?
Man - I love you hahahaha
Could you tell me which lens you used?

You're probably working on the timeline nodes is my guess. Switch to clip nodes.
It's really good, but there are some details about tracking forward and backwards, and what that means, that is missing.
oh... because i lost all the effects, and you don't adress is, so I fixed by more trakcking, but then you fix it right after with keyframe and blend. Could be cool with a heads up and also a it more detail. Otherwise, great.
When i download the dc_vfx media and unzip it I can’t import it into my iPad DaVinci project as it don’t show up is this because it is in .mov ?
Are the hats composed in the shot?
The 'Input Color Space' option doesn't appear when I right-click on my clip. How can I access that option?
Do I need to buy Resolve Studio to follow this tutorial?
Nope free works for most of it
@@CaseyFaris thanks man 🤌
HEY CASIEEEEE LET ME KNOWW CAN I USE MY OWN EDIT VIDEO OF THIS FOOTAGES FOR COMMERCIAL LIKE MY SOCIALS ?
