- The Naboo Starfighter is a big win for me and my LEGO Star Wars collection, but I really wish the LEGO did a new mold for the beauty that is the darksaber. So I took matters into my own hands and made a custom version using existing LEGO pieces.

Correction: Lego actually has been using this version of the dark saber for almost 10 years, go back to the pre vizla and the darth maul sets, it sucks that after 10 years Lego still hasn’t done a proper dark saber

Goes with custom designers:
- With Darksaber in Clone Wars, I prefer Arealight version.
- With Darksaber in Mandalorian, I prefer Brickarms version.
We can forget about the lazy dArKSaBeR of LEGO now, because it's look like many others lightsaber, a normal hilt (part 64567) and a Wand put in it.
I feel like the katana piece on it's own looks good

Me too, but I think Lego SW fans (especially one huge Lego SW UA-camr) would still be furious if they used the katana piece.
@@aeroallergen He is so desperate at this point I think he will accept a Ninjago piece. But even then the sin of saying that Monkie Kid is better cannot be forgiven
The irony is they already have the perfect blade piece, item 37341c on bricklink, but it hasn't been made in black yet. Lego why?!

In ninjago there is a short hilt katana, and it works perfectly for the darksaber custom
5:41 it actually looks amazing, the way it isn't perfect is what makes it even better, it looks like the white is fire burning around the actual dark sober itself
I used nail clippers to cut the sword handle down, and I used a silver sharpie to add the white bits.

Personally not angry at the mold. I wish that the handle was black or dark grey though.
I think they could have used a katana blade and put into a new mould for the hilt and make the katana piece translucent and have white edging
In the Ninjago theme there is already a katana mold with a short hilt that would perfectly fit in the lightsaber hilt

You know, if you go to Arealight Customs, they actually have a custom Darksaber that looks like the one in the Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and the Clone Wars.
First that’s pretty solid
I made my own custom Lego darksaber as well because I hated the one Lego made it was so inaccurate.
What I did was I got a lightsaber hilt in a gun metal grey colour and a silver katana sword. I cut the handle of the katana sword about a quarter of the way so it would fit into the hilt. Then I got a sharpie and coloured the blade in black and rubbed it with a tissue so some of the silver still came through. In the clone wars, rebels the blade has a sort of crackling effect travelling through the blade as a sort of pulse of energy. My custom isn’t entirely accurate but it looks better than Legos at least. I display it with my Pre-visla figure and occasionally my Darth maul figure.
I love the dark sabre it’s a cool design and I love how it is more like a katana than a regular lightsaber. It adds to its uniqueness, while also looking very sleek and stylish.
The thing that bugs me about the Jin Djarin figure is he doesn’t include a hair piece and also the fact that the helmet doesn’t match the silver of the rest of the armour. Ik I’m nitpicking tbf lol 😂. Xx
They could use that random Ninjago Sword piece that could attach to Studs with Holes

I'd be happy if LEGO just made the regular 4L bar piece in transparent black. I think that'd be leagues better than the opaque black version they are using now. A modified electric light saber hilt could still make it light up, and might produce an interesting effect for trans black.

I think other than more precision on adding white, the only thing that could make that better is cutting of the square bit at the bottom of the sword would be cool, great job anway

There’s actually a pack of blades and weapons that comes in some ninja go sets that has a katana with a much shorter hilt, to go in things like the controllers from the January 2020 wave. Unfortunately, Lego hasn’t made it in black afaik

Colour: Silver, Pear Gold, Trans-Neon, White, Green - but no Black, too bad.
If it comes in white just get one of those and put a black sharpie line down the middle 🤣

Seeing as you used correction tape for the blade. I got this alternative for you. Use the Katana blade from Ninjago but instead sand down the guard of the hilt on the left and right side (or use a modelling scalpel). Then get some acrylic paint for kit models (Airfix Revell etc). White and Gun Metal. Also this is where you get to learn a new model painting technique "Dry Brushing" get a modelling brush dip it into your gun metal paint then remove the paint on a peice of cloth as much as possible. Then lightly brush the hilt you will notice that the some paint is being applied only to the raised areas of the hilt creating detail. Keep doing this until desired effect. Then with the white acrylic paint just apply to the top and bottom edge of the blade. Then lastly still with the white paint dry brush the upper and lower vertical edges of the blade on both sides leaving a solid band of black on both sides. Drybrushing models to create detail is like massively satisfying once you get the hang of it

Welcome to the world of true customizing, but here’s a little tip from us customizers, there are people they make custom injection molded dark sabers that are way more accurate.
reduce it in lenght and clean of the tip-ex stuff with a cotton swab drenched in a little alcohol, this way you can get the flat areas clean black and the egdes stay white.
It would be cool if Lego made the saber similar to there fire molds, by having it clear on the edges and then having a dark none see through black in the center to give that glow/ plus the clear outer layer could glow in the dark
Good effort, but it could’ve been better. The Darksaber is actually shorter than standard lightsabers, so it should be possible to cut/shave of the tip a bit

Hate to break it to you, but in the new Ninjago sets there IS a sword piece with a shortened hilt… it only comes in white only though, not black

Honestly, the handle portion isn’t that important to me anyway and in bright light there’s a reflection off the black blade, so I’ve always just used a black Ninjago training katana as the dark saber for my figures.

I would personally not add any white a while back though I used a silver katana and coated the blade part in a permanent black pen though every now and again it did scratch of the scratches can be used as a shiney affect

Ey that’s pretty much what I did except I cut the hilt of the sword and trimmed the sword hilt to the perfect size
You could’ve just left the black katana and added the white effects on the edges of it instead of cutting it and adding it to a hilt:)

I just took a katana, painted it black, painted white on the edges, and painted the hilt gun metal grey literally like 3 days before this released lol

That wasn't the first release of the dark Saber. First was in pre vizslas set then in a rebels set.
I would use some masking tape and model primer/paint to keep the blades lines a bit neater.

like...im not even asking for a full darksaber piece i only want a darksaber blade mold too atach too a gun metal hilt and thats it
(so that way the blade can still be detachable)
You could have taken a dark torch handle piece for the saber hilt, would have hidden handle/ hilt better maybe

I use the black Spike Flexible 3.5L with Pin for my Darksaber blade. It's part number 64727. Would be nice if it came in trans-black though.

Im sorry, but you need to try again. Practice makes perfect. And get a white paint marker, fine tip, from Walmart or a craft store. Easier to control. Also..... look on Aliexpress for the KO Lego minifigs. One store has a version of Gideon that comes with an actual black dark saber that has jagged edges and everything.

How funny is that? I actually did your method, a month ago, in order to make a Dark Saber. Like you showed us, you cut off the handle of the sword, and attached it to the Lightsaber handle Instead. (not trying to sponsor my channel here, but a Month ago, I've used it on a Mando stop motion. The only difference between ours is that you actually have the detail made yourself, which, also gives me ideas, so it's quite funny to come across this video. Good content, btw. I'll sub

Yeah, I hate the "Darksaber" pieces of LEGO too, 2022 and they still lazy to make a new mould and new part for Star Wars weapons. So I goes with custom designers now, Darksaber Clone Wars version with Arealight, or Darksaber Mandalorian version with Brickarms. I can't stand with that regular hilt (part 64567) for every "Lightsaber" in lego Star Wars sets, such a boring.
