@@theoutlawdigger I’m looking real hard at the Manticore or 900 Equinox as my next detector. Currently have a BH Land Ranger Pro and either will be a helluva jump from the BH LRP, albeit it has served well and is without a doubt the best detector with its’ features out there for ballpark $200 and under…if memory serves the LRP was $175 out the door. If I know me, I’ll end up with the Manticore over the 900.
@@usmc6157 I upgraded from the AT Max to the Manticore and I have not been disappointed. They are on sale right now and ML offers a 15% military discount.
@@theoutlawdigger Appreciate the heads up about the sale. Yeh, several places are running sales right now and I figure with the 15% mil discount, I can walk with a better unit easily for the price and then some, of the next lower grade unit(s). These things have sure come a long way. I remember as a kid back in the mid-70’s I had a Radio Shack metal detector, looked like an old Cobra CB strapped on top of a piece of 1/2” conduit and a 1-gal paint can lid for a head, and wouldn’t hardly pick up a damn hammer with the thing sitting on top of it. 😆
Nice hunt! What kind of metal detector would you recommend for someone who wants to do this? And what other materials do you recommend like your little detector and shovel? I don’t live far from a civil war battlefield.
For a beginner, I would suggest the Minelab Xterra Pro, the Nokta Makro Simplex or the Garrett Apex. The little detector(aka pin pointer) is a must have. I would suggest getting one of the bigger brands though. Garrett, XP, Minelab, etc.. Get a shovel that isn’t super large. There are shovels made specifically for detecting, but you can pick one up that fits you and digs nice tight plugs. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Nice hunt thank you for sharing 👍👍❤️
Thank you for watching! My filming/editing is a work in progress. The video quality should be improving soon! Good luck out there!
Liked and subbed…good vid, good camera work, no unnecessary bs! Well done!
Thank you, I appreciate that. I’m glad you enjoyed it. The channel is a work in progress.

Root Slayer is the best shovel I’ve used!!!
I was very happy with mine, until the blade broke….
I’ve dug thru asphalt, caleche, packed oyster shell, and small rock driveways and hasn’t broken yet!!!
@@CommonGuy Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great shovel and I abused the crap out it before she gave out.
