it is also notheworthy that clefable got a direct base stat buff in generation 6. Her special attack went from 85 to 95. Not a great difference, but it helps
I think we need to show some respect to Ledian. When it was first introduced in Gen2, it was a funny little guy with no niche in competitive play. It managed to hold that status throughout Gen3 to Gen7, and even though it doesn't exist in either Gen8 or Gen9, Ledian still managed to be a funny little guy. Even more impressively, it manages all this without being a horse Pokémon, as its movepool only reflects is status as a Struggling Bug.
Unfortunately, Muk himself is unable to be a horse. Thus he has conducted experimental gene splicing, and through the Power of Alchemy he has found a Chilling Neigh of his own.
I think a reason why they removed it because it made the it hard to attack mega gengar in doubles since it could choose not to mega and keep its ground immunity.
I would like to point out for those who are uninformed on the matter that, despite his impressive competitive legacy, Gliscor should not be taken as any kind of role model figure, as he is widely considered to be morally reprehensible.
Another tool Zapdos lost that many forget is Toxic. Yeah, it got outshined by HP Ice/Grass in gens 2-7 and Hurricane in gen 8, but we still saw a fair amount of usage, both in SS and especially LGPE, to widdle down ground types and make it harder for said ground types to not only repeatedly come in on Zapdos, but also makes it harder for them to withstand repeated bludgeoning from a team overtime
Alternatively: Conquest (Magcargo) War (Horsea) Famine (Muk) Death (Spectrier) Alternatively Alternatively: Iron Mugulis for Famine because the cup is empty
I can see it being low or even high B-tier, simply due to offering three immunities on top of it possessing multiple useful quirks and options, such as Trick, Taunt, Nasty Plot, Will-o-Wisp, a Toxic that never misses, a resistance to Fairy (making it a potential pick over Dragapult) and few others that elude me at the moment. But, yes, it'd probably be outshone by a few too many Pokémon, due to its now less-than-stellar Speed.
The biggest issue with Heatran now is that it lost Toxic, which is a significant hit to its very DoT-centric offensive presence and a big part of what allowed it to muscle past defensive Water-types that would otherwise act as effective long-term responses to Heatran. It went from being one of the hardest Pokemon to switch into in the game to being a fairly bog-standard Fire-type offensively, and when you have exploitable typing and below-average Speed this is quite difficult to reconcile.
I was looking for someone to just talk pokemon to me and your videos are just what i needed! Thanks for the videos and the work you put into them. Makes my work days and recovery from being sick much faster!
The fact that GF gave Spikes to so many pokemon in gen9 makes me believe that someone in that company still loves singles. Unfortunately this blessed soul is a minority, but nonetheless I salute you, whoever you are
They usually always throw a couple of bones to singles in a new gen. A lot of people like to say GF doesn't think about singles at all but they definitely still consider it even if it's not their main competitive focus
In my opinion, when considering both singles and VGC, Landorus-T is the clear GOAT of competitive pokemon. While other mons might be better in singles or in VGC, there is nothing that can hold a candle to Lando-T's cumulative resume. He is my GOAT.

Clef's rise over the years has truly been inspirational. Game Freak can spotlight Charizard and the rat all they want, but it's clear who their favorite is.
If it was good in cart formats, I'd believe that. Clefable I mean, I know Clefairy's a good support mon in VGC (I don't think Clefable finally becoming relevant for once in Reg H is enough for me to give it a pass there). Really, I think the fact Clefable turned out as good as it is in 6v6 Singles is more coincidental than anything else.

I am simply filled to the mental and emotional BRIM with excitement, because of the prospect of seeing Muk become a horse. I am hoping with every fibre of my being that it comes to fruition.
I think dragonite’s worth mentioning, ever since it got multiscale it’s been consistently good and it’s gotten indirectly buffed by a lot of things over the gens like heavy duty boots, having access to flying stab in dual wingbeat in gen 8, and tera now in gen 9
Meowstic is a Pokémon that has aged perfectly. It started as a humble ZU Pokémon, and even through all of the years of powercreep, it has never fallen.

Former staples of competitve singles that saw frequent use in tournaments have now faded into obscurity, no longer the titans they once were.
