    I bought this cover a year and a half ago and it was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. First of all, the video doesn’t do the mattress cover justice. It’s actually very very high quality. The cover is essentially a new outter shell for the mattress. No one could tell the difference. It’s the same material you see in any mattress. I bought the replacement foam/topper and this mattress cover and I swear it’s like having a brand new mattress. This post a year and a half after purchase and still going great. If this company knew how to market, they could disrupt the entire mattress industry.

      Hey Andy sorry to bother you how did you put the top back to mattress? Did you sew it by hand?

    • @AndyZaky
      @AndyZaky 3 роки тому +10

      @@emaderaghi no. So you can buy a new topper and put it inside the mattress. What I did was cut off the entire top of my mattress outter shell and threw it away. I put a new foam topper on top of the springs inside the mattress. I then incased the entire mattress including the topper inside the mattress cover. Just as you see in the video. You merely need to do math. Look at how the thick the foam is and add that to the thickness of your mattress. Then buy a cover that fits the mattress and foam. Watch the full video. I basically did exactly what you see in this video.

      @@AndyZaky thanks for explaining Andy but I meant the last part of the job which is the top cover(the one we cut at the begining) . How can I attach it back to the mattress? In the video it shows there is a zipper but mine doesn't have a zipper. Should I just sew it?

    • @AndyZaky
      @AndyZaky 3 роки тому +6

      @@emaderaghi no. There’s a product they sell that you buy. It’s a full matters enclosure. So I’ll try to make this as simple as possible by giving an example of my mattress that was broken and had to be repaired.
      I had a rare and very expensive Four Seasons mattress. The mattress had a topper. Some mattresses have toppers (the extra thick foam at the top) and some don’t. Mine did.
      The problem with my mattress was the individually coiled springs came out of line. The only way to fix that was to cut open my mattress and reposition them by hand.
      Okay. But the problem with that is you have a cut open mattress now right? Well the “product” being sold on this video is a FULL MATTRESS COVER that goes around the ENTIRE MATTRESS. The top foam you throw away and buy a new one from the same store.
      You need TWO products to fix the mattress. (1) you need the full mattress cover which they show in this video and sell it on their website; (2) you need a new topper foam if your bed has a topper foam.
      That’s it. A few hundred dollars. Very self explanatory. The whole point of this thing is to not have to sew 🧵. If you buy the mattress cover, you don’t have to sew anything.

    It has been a month now that we have had our magic sleeper replacement for our Select Comfort Sleep number Bed. we have the C2. It is the basic model without a foam topper because they wear out. Well the little top that is on it wears out too. We order the replacement and the guys shipped it fast. So easy to trade out. My husband and I did it in about 2 hours. That is taking the bed apart and putting it in the new shell with the 3 inch firm foam top. I have slept through the night every night since we changed it. No tossing and turning and no waking with sore shoulders. I don't feel like I am sleeping in a ditch any more. It is so wonderful. And when this one wears out, we will order a new piece of foam and zip it into the shell of the Select Comfort. It is the best. Thanks for the video guys. Many prosperous years ahead of you.

    Seems to be a silent army of desperados (like me) who spent too much on mattresses that either aren't supportive, or sag - literally within weeks - mooning around wondering if we're ever going to get a comfortable night's sleep again! Modern mattresses largely suck, big time.
    What you're demonstrating is not only useful, it's vital.

      My sealy pillowtop mattress started sagging within the first few weeks. My mom got it under her name and credit card for easier payments, and she harrassed and pressured me to get a new mattress so it was a rush decision, and she picked a totally wrong mattress. I wanted the same mattress I had before, it lasted me 15 years, so we thought it'd be a no brainer. Wrong. Pillowtops are horrible nowadays, this mattress is so soft, I think she was rushing herself in the store too and picked a soft mattress by accident. I've been pressuring her to call the store for months but she won't do it. Now it's been 9 months with this horrible sagging mattress that cost $900, I'm still making payments too. I've tried rotating, vacuum sucking the body dents, it only helps for 1 night. It's sagging and I feel like I'm slanted when I lay on the bed. I'm a strict back sleeper at 160lbs, I need a firm non-pillow top. My back is aching horribly as I write this. It's literally sagging like the edges are higher and firm, and the entire middle is dipped, it's like a slope. In just a month this happened.

      @@dreamrabbits5072 Oh, that's really tough on you. If it's any consolation, you'd have been hard pushed to pick a decent one these days - either side of the Pond. I ended up buying a 'vintage' 1980s one in really good nick from Ebay. It's a cracker, and it cost me only £100, and it's the same make as the ones I grew up sleeping soundly on (Relyon), but their modern ones suck, so I wouldn't recommend that brand anymore. Like you, I'm a back sleeper and i need firm support, or my sciatica can be activated.
      Financially speaking you're well within your rights to reject the goods, but if it's anything like UK consumer law where you live, you'd need to act with in the 1st 6 months to get a refund. As it's not fit for purpose, you're entitled to an exchange or credit (which you likely don't want) even at this point, but you may want to cut your losses. $900, though Just goes to show you don't get what you pay for anymore. It's a built-in irony that we end up too tired to take action in a timely manner when these mattresses fail! I personally have had no luck with pocket springs. They're designed for double beds to prevent 'roll together', and I was told by an expert that they're not good used in singles. Before I bought my vintage one, I was going to try here: www.thewoolroom.com/
      after seeing an impressive review of a wool mattress on Y/tube. You'd find it easily, i think. he did 2; 1 when he bought it, and 6 months later. It was firm, and they are springless. He also said it kept him cool in the warm weather, and vice versa. I bought one from Ikea a few years back, and it had a lovely springbox - which is everything, and waaaay more important than 'comfort layers'. I had to ditch it, as the top was synthetic latex and it was hotter than the sun to sleep on! Broke my heart, as I could tell it was a good'n. Hope this helps. Good luck.

    I remember the days when mattresses actually lasted. You could also flip them over to get even more life out of them.. From watching this video, it appears that the "pillow top and/or euro top" mattresses are a waste of money (and it costs more for those). Thanks for the video!

  • @patriciasalem3606
    @patriciasalem3606 Рік тому +18

    I did this and it's been fairly successful, although I had to make another set of changes over time. First, I removed the pillow top and one layer of cheap foam, leaving a two-inch piece of foam above the coils. I placed a two-inch latex topper that I already owned over the remaining foam and added a quilted mattress pad. It felt better for a while, but eventually the mattress was sagging in the middle again. Not wanting to buy a new mattress yet and not able to replace the foundation or frame right now (a long logistics story), I decided to try one more fix. I put a bunkie board between the mattress and the foundation for more sturdiness/stability. I also added a two-inch polyurethane foam topper beneath the latex layer. One thing contributing to the recent dip is that the mattress is constructed with stiffer coils around the perimeter than in the center. So, I purchased the foam topper in a size smaller than the bed overall to accommodate for what had become a height difference that exacerbated the canoe effect. Right now it feels like a whole new bed, and I hope it lasts. If I get another year or two out if, I'll be satisfied. Thanks for the confidence to try this surgery!

    • @magicsleeper
      @magicsleeper  Рік тому +2

      Glad it was able to work in the long run! If you ever find yourself sagging again in the near future, I would double check the support underneath the mattress. Latex foam is good foam! @@magicsleeper Thank you! Yes, the latex topper was a miracle find for my previous bed. It's lasted well so far (about 7 years). • @magicsleeper
      @magicsleeper  Рік тому +1

      @@patriciasalem3606 Replacing for a new platform will definitely be the more efficient route. Especially if you are comparing getting a new mattress that already has latex in it. Latex can get expensive. Platforms you can find many different styles under $300!

    • @patriciasalem3606
      @patriciasalem3606 Рік тому +1

      @@magicsleeper I originally wanted a platform when I did my mattress surgery. But I'm in a rural area, so I only have one option that will deliver to me. And it's just me to do all the work, which makes it tough. I can get the mattress store to take away the old foundation, but I couldn't find anyone to help with the old metal bed frame. I lived on the coast previously, and it looks like there's some rust on the connections. Since I don't intend to be here forever, it seemed like it would be easier to make do with the bunkie board over the cheap foundation for now and change the whole thing when I move next. :)

    Thank you for this video...This is my story
    I started getting hip and back pain a few days ago and got some relief after sleeping on the floor for just one night. Therefore, I deduced that the mattress was definitely the issue. Consequently, I decided that a new mattress was the only option. However, after getting information on what type of mattress I needed and weighed that against the cost, I was simply not able to get a new one.
    After looking at this video I got my courage up to destroy my mattress. The springs had a dip so it's no good but it was quite telling because the mattress barely had two inches of padding (foam etc) on either side of those horrible springs. I will be sleeping on the padding tonight minus the springs added to some comforters for some more comfort.
    Anyway, what I'm saying is that thanks to this video I felt like I had another, albeit unconventional, option that did not entail spending money on a new mattress.

Then I purchased a new pillow top spring matress, 4 months before it started sagging and causing pain again. Long story short, don’t bother buying a new matress they are all made to fail and warranties are bs.

      I'm sure you've already made your decision but in case someone else reads this the consensus seems to be that latex is the better solution for hot sleepers. The problem with memory foam (even with gel) is that you tend to sink into the foam and so the heat gets trapped. Latex does a better job at radiating the heat off into the material below it and so keeps you cooler during the night.

    So I have a question about the springs not being part of the problem. In this video, they are using a level to show that the springs still result in a flat mattress, but I would argue that of course they will... they are springs! They'll stand to their intended height, but I would suspect wouldn't be as resiliant as before (that is, would resist less when pressure is applied). Has anyone examined this? Can springs in a mattress be rearranged?

Made the mistake of getting a pillow-top. Within a couple hours I'm sleeping in a ditch, changing positions throughout the night, and waking up with a sore back. Unfortunately it's nonrefundable. Hi guys. after replacing the foam you also sell what covers the mattress as ordered or comes along with the foam

  • @ArcanePath360
    @ArcanePath360 4 роки тому +8

    Why not cut the foam taken off, down the middle and flip them round so that the middle sag is then on the outside edges. Then glue them together and put back. Good for another few years at no cost.

    • @AJ-lz1em
      @AJ-lz1em 2 роки тому +2

      I suppose that's an option but I'd personally not do it because I'd likely feel the glue line and also because that's a lot of effort for a short term fix (and it'd still require the zipper mattress cover cost anyway)

    • @magicsleeper

      It is very unusual for the springs to sag at all. I would say you have a more than 9/10 chance that the springs are fine. Unfortunately the only way to verify that is to remove the foam.

The guy was living in Japan, where it was hot and humid, but said he hadn't needed his air con since getting it. I'll try find the link for you, but i think you'd find the review easily enough. He did 2: 1 at the time, then 6 months hence. He was well stoked about the quality. I'm a hot sleeper, too, so was looking in to wool mattresses, as they regulate you, apparently.

    • @magicsleeper
      @magicsleeper  Рік тому +1

      The tufts are actually tufted strings / rope. You can still change the foam, however you will need to cut the tufted strings and you will not be able to retuft the mattress. But if you want to use their spring and foam that is still in good shape, you can most definitely proceed with the process and upgrade the bad foam that is inside it. Hope this helps!

    If he would have kept on removing to see the springs he would've seen that the springs are individually wrapped and they leave gaps between the coils and the wall of mattress and when you lay down the coils lay down and because if the gap they eventually dont pop back up. When u see coils fill the space between the wall and coils with foam and they will stay in upright position and you wont have dips.
