    What really infuriates me is that mick lynch has mentioned several times that the government are covering rail firms losses during the dispute, however, in none of the numerous interviews I've seen with Mark harper, has he been asked to confirm if this is the case and, if so, how the government can justify using public money in this manner.

    Nationalize the transport system, the energy companies and re-nationalize (the privatized sections) the NHS. • @angryherbalgerbil
      @angryherbalgerbil Рік тому +8

      You want energy independence at the household level.
      Energy, food, water, shelter. These things should be in the control of yourself. When ever these are in tbe hands of any centralised provider, be it private corporate, or national then those centralised bodies have control over your life. Same with medicine to some degree.
      If everyone took measures to get off grid, or have energy independence then that's one step towards addressing the imbalance.

      @@angryherbalgerbil A green energy grant that puts a wind turbine on every roof in the uk and a solar panel on every home in the uk would be a great start. Then we put water turbines in the water systems so whenever it is raining, windy, snowing or sunshine the uk and the people of the uk are making free clean green energy and money. We do need a national energy company and another company that does water and another that does broadband, The UK can do these things cheaper than a private company because of course they would be owned by the uk tax payer, This would also allow the goverment to put soft caps on residential essential services. Then instead of the company being entirely driven for a few peoples wealth, it is driven for the best services with normal profits, not excessive. If the uk has not built 200,000 council homes for 12 years, that is 2million council houses, at least 4 million bedrooms that do not exist. So then they are at the mercy of a private landlord charging double the rent to pay their own mortgage and add that with private companies extorting people for profit, it is a worse recipe than working on self sufficiency.

      @@quill9105 That makes no sense. It's possible to go out without using public transport, and the decline we are seeing in the sector is part of a decline that's been happening over the last ten years; pubs and clubs and restaurants have been closing like nobody's business for ages.
      We're just seeing that trend spike now, due to a myriad of factors: Brexit lost a lot of the staff, Covid made some of the more fragile businesses wind up, and the cost of living crisis has started to finish the job. You can't say this is the rail worker's fault when forty percent of working people are on benefits and food bank use is at al all time high.
      Sorry, but what you're saying is gaslighting nonsense. The lion's share of the problem is down to how the economy is being run.

    I've worked for the railway for eighteen years and never missed a day through strike up till last may, we are not communists or people that want to bring a government down , all we want is a safe railway and a decent wage for providing that,
