My dad used to drag race atleast once a month when I was a kid. Built engines, modified cars and kicked ass in the track. Too bad I wasn't paying attention at the time
I’m from south ms and I’m drunk. I don’t know who the epa is but I can guarantee they won’t stop a damn thing. Remember when they tried to ban alcohol, we got bootleggers. They try to stop drag racing it’ll be the same thing, rednecks racing on public roads in the middle of nowhere. Not to mention I doubt any car guy would give up their project car, I’ve never had a project car personally but I doubt anyone who builds their car would willingly give up something they spent their time and money on. I’m sorry I just left the drag strip, no competing because again, drunk but still just being at the strip will make your passion for cars skyrocket.
If you don’t understand car guys, just spend an hour or two at your local drag strip. It is so engaging, the burnouts, the cars so loud you feel your spine rattle, and seeing classic cars built to go 160mph past you. You can see a couple million in classic cars just sitting at the local drag strip ON A WEEKDAY just for test and tune let alone a main event.
This one's a late one. . . . I was waiting at 10 for an upload. At least we got one today. But I'm still waiting for that So you want a Kei Truck . . . . 👀
Its more like the tuner gang realizes that they cant fulfill their dreams of touge drifting in the mountains of japan and settle for just going in straight lines on a freeway
Yes we love drifting and tracks, but in reality-we don’t and aren’t able to do it often. It’s pointless to spend tons of money on mods for a drift car or track car if you only take it to the track-especially only a few times. Drag racing is the most practical because you can just hit it whenever and race on the street. You always hit it on a green light anyway, and rarely drift/track
I’m not into the top fuel and funny car drag racing, but street car and modified former street car drag racing is so much fun and cool. All of my cars have been for that
I would agree but I was able to take a ride ion a two seater top fuel drag car a few years ago. Not many people do it and it cost a pretty penny but finally being able to do something like that for myself I did it. My god it’s a rush that I instantly wanted to do again. I see what people are trying to drive nitro funny and top fuel cars for the rest of their lives.
love the vid guys! ...im a long time nhra fan of 30 years or more! ...but to those of u who havent seen it Live, uve just gotta see it, & smell it, in person to truly appreciate it... it just doesnt parlay well over a tv set, regardless of how good of a sound system u have... good day & god bless
Much like oval track, I'm not a fan of straight line racing, but I definitely respect it for what it is. If you've never seen a top fuel event in person, it's an experience you'll never forget!
Drag racing stands is the only motor sport that is safe to do officially on a race track with whatever you’re driving. In high school I ran an 82 Buick wagon with a tired Olds 350. It ran in the 17’s. I won more rounds in it than I have in the 20+ years I’ve raced my 65 Skylark combined. If the race car broke we used to put the numbers on the tow vehicle, guess a dial-in, and run it instead. I saw a guy run his motorhome once when he scattered his transmission but won the round because his opponent red lighted. He actually went a round or two in the motorhome if memory serves. NMCA is the only national sanctioning body I know of that incorporates weekend bracket cars into their national events. So when the NMCA comes to your local track, you can go and enter your car in the regular bracket category called open comp. Pay a small membership fee, a car and driver fee, and you’re on the track. The same track as the five second pro mods and you only spent 180 bucks for three days at the race track
Made a video about the history of drag racing and didnt mention Big Willie or the Brotherhood of Street racers once but showed like 4 brotherhood cars. Also drag racing is still very popular and talked about among the younger crowd. Thursday night at irwindale is still packed compared to a road or drift course at Adams or willow.
I respect drag racing, I even use to do it but I'm not a fan. Watching cars race in a straight line gets boring pretty fast. Cars were meant to go both left and right with the occasional up and down shifts.
My grandfather use to race cars when there were 2 people in the race car. My grandfather was also a mechanic. My birth father also raced cars too. I didn't know this at the time because I was adopted. Funny thing is I also raced cars back in the day. I miss those days. Mopar power, Ford, hemies. Plain out pure power Muscle Cars. Not like today. Now we have the Fast & Furious type cars. I like them to but not as much as the glory days of the muscle cars of the mid 60's and early 70's. I just down right loved the straight track. I never really got into dirt or oval track. The straight was my high. Yep like I said I miss those days. Boy how times change.
So I have a question, I'm 15 I have a 2007 honda civic ex coupe. But my parent's won't let me get a real job and I want to mod my car. Is there any really really cheap things I could do to it?
Step 1: Get drivers license Step 2: Get familiar with your car and driving in general Step 3: Get a job (pizza delivery is a good start, that's a great car for that) Step 4: Learn how to maintain your car (so it lasts a long time meaning your future mods won't be for nothing) Step 5: Mod the car to make it your own
^^^ that There's nothing you can do for real cheap that's going to be worthwhile. Drive the car, get used to how it handles and feels on the road. Once you can get a decent job, save as much money as you can. And do your research.
I really want a so u want next if u need help on picking a car the Pontiac vibegt or Toyota matrix is a banging car and ppl woul love it especially me😍
It can be... I am more of a SCCA course track driver myself, but I have a lot of friends who 1/4 mile race. many of them do it for fun so I will occasionally go with them to the "test and tune" races. These can get boring because they usually are not very organized, so wait times between some lineups can tip 15-20 minutes (its like sitting through a set change at a concert). A fully staffed and well organized race can move pretty quickly though and are fun even if you are just spectating.
unpopular opinion, but dragracing is kinda boring... it just is what it is... running in a straight line... you know whats the real shit? rally! going 180kph on a narrow forest street, cornering between rocks and cliffs, jumping 3m into the air.
@@the_guy_who_split_your_qua3832 What is it then? Cars, that cant turn? Engines, that have to be replaced after every race? Okay, dragracing of "normal" cars (and by normal I mean heavily modified street cars) is cool. But not because of the dragrace, but because of the car. Those real dragrace-cars are boring as hell.

First reply i believe... Its gotta be the burnouts, a top fuel dragster creating a 2 on the richter scale just does it for me. Its perfect
My dad used to drag race atleast once a month when I was a kid. Built engines, modified cars and kicked ass in the track. Too bad I wasn't paying attention at the time
I love racing as a whole, I just hope the “EPA” does not take it away.
They make too much off gas taxes to ever take it away.
Good news, they got thay right taken away

Ah finally the tuner gang is growing up
Its more like the tuner gang realizes that they cant fulfill their dreams of touge drifting in the mountains of japan and settle for just going in straight lines on a freeway
More like we just need new idea to make car go fast

Pretty sweet you guys used my car as the thumb nail for this video
Love that you guys are focusing on more stuff like this and hope to see more!
Hot Rod magazine is my all time favorite. Used to have to read everyday after school to improve my reading level; and it was this magazine
Awesome topic, can we ask for a break down of the different classes? That would be a great part 2. 💯
Great idea!
Dragging is sick🔥, but personally, drifting takes the cake purely cuz seeing cars sideways while ripping just cuz it’s so unique🙌🏼

Winning serious drags takes skill and resources. Any airhead or dweeb can drift in just about any vehicle.

I’ve gone to one and it’s awesome
My teacher has a race car. Today he told the class that cocaine would be a cheaper hobby. 🤣
I mean....he's not wrong.
lol
Yesss, now I'm gonna drag race with my 90 hspr golf
Much like oval track, I'm not a fan of straight line racing, but I definitely respect it for what it is. If you've never seen a top fuel event in person, it's an experience you'll never forget!

Anyone else think drag racing is boring asf? It’s just a game of “who has the biggest engine”. I prefer watching Gran Touring or formula D.
