Tested some pellets in my Feinwerkbau P8X to see which one produced the smallest group.
pellets tested: RWS Club, RWS Basic, RWS R10, H&N Sport, H&N Finale Light, Eley Tenex Air, JSB Match

First, I appreciate the effort made here.
Unfortunatelly, there are few major issues here.
1. The target-trap system is way too flimsy to get proper results
2. If you took this many different production series of the same brand, same type, same diameter (let's say RWS R10 4.50), you'd get the same variety of groups. Different serial number, different mold with its specific micro imperfections. Combine that with the fact that each barrel is different like fingerprints and you get all kinds of results. I know this might sound weird to someone, but I personally fired 250+ thousand shots of which 150+ thousand from air rifle and tested ammo for my barrel almost every year of my career.

i agree. the test results are not applicable for anyone else.
i was just searching for the optimal pellet brand for my new P8X. this is more of an encouragement for everyone to test in a similar manner.
but the test was repeatable. if you look on the channel, i made 2 other videos on the subject.

Interesting to see that the cheaper "training" pellets performed just about as well as the premium pellets. It would be good to see a single group of one of each of the pellets, I still think it would be very tight. I have recently tested a few pellets at 20 yards in my Morini 162ei. The RWS hobby was almost as tight as the R10's.

interesting idea. i;ll try in the future to shoot a group with each pellet of a different kind, while filming the target

Nice set up and review. Good selection and choice pf pellets. Now I only need to work on that vice like grip and and granite shooting position.

Very interesting, but I notice that your pellet trap are moving with every hit. I would suggest you weight it down while testing and also secure your witness paper to the pellet trap with tape to avoid it shifting.

did not notice it was moving, it is heavy.
the paper is snug in the rails, it does not move.

Great test and thank you for sharing. You can see the wind in the videos and I wonder how much the wind affected the groups? I used to compete in 25M air rifle benchrest matches (USARB) outdoors, and wind - even a small amount - has a huge effect (In fact most matches are won or lost on the shooter's ability to read and hold for windage).
A better test would be indoors - with every effort to eliminate drafts or air movement. That said I agree with the comment that all these shots would have been 10s. I shoot RWS basics and they group much better than I ever could!

i was carefull not to shoot when the gusting. i would have been worried if all the pellets would have given subpar results. but since some grouped especially well and some didn;t...i take it as conclusive.
btw, i repeated the test with the RWS Club and the results were the same. (video soon)

Any of those would have been 10's, I think the quality (and more expensive) ones matter in the Olympic finals where the decimal point matters for your standard club comps cheaper lead is just as good where countback is the order, great video by the way. :)

j'ai aussi tester avec mon lp 2 et lp 10 steyr, ils ne font pas mieux que le matchgun le meilleur, j'ai règlé la vitesse des plombs entre 158 et 160 m/s, j'ai essayé d'autre vitesse inférieur et supérieur sur les 3 armes, et c'est vers 160 m/s que çà groupe le mieux, car il faut adapter la vitesse en fonction de la marque du plomb, une vitesse qui va bien pour une marque de plomb ne va pas nécessairement bien aller avec une autre marque de plomb ou arme il faut chercher

je fais mieux que çà avec mon matchgun mg1, je fais un trou d'environ 6 mm avec des hn "école de tir" vendu en france, et après dans les plus régulier les "geco boite rouge", tous les ploms cher rws, jb, et hn ne font pas mieux
