I just found your videos and have already gone through season 7&8 rewrites! They were really good! I'm excited to listen to more! They kept me listening to them back to back! Thank you so much for these!
Personally I think Olenna would've made a better master of coin than Ellaria cause the Reach, since the lannisters gold mines ran out, is technically the wealthiest kingdom and Olennas running it so...
I realize this is a few years old now, but I think this is my favorite Game of Thrones rewrite of the many such rewrites I've seen. Your thoroughness in portraying the various political wills and interests, conflicting ideals and personalities, and suchlike is really fun to watch. I particularly like the Gendry subplot and would be very curious to see where that goes, especially in how Arya and the north may become involved as they find a common enemy in the Dragon Queen, but every faction and their intermingled and conflicting wants or needs are all unraveling in a very exciting and satisfyingly complex way. I hope you come back around to this someday, I would love to see how it ends -- where and in what conditions the characters, especially those 'minor' characters like Gendry or Trystane who were reduced to little more than plot devices without any agency, end up.
OH MY GOD i am in awe this is SO GOOD WTF I AM- I JUST??? Okay so to be more coherent I can not believe how well done this is. To go from a season 5 thats so slightly canon divergent to a season 8 more compelling than all four of the last seasons of game of thrones combined, with characters, motivations, and plots that make sense through and through? To get us invested in minor characters like Eleanor Tyrell or Trystane Martell in such a way is simply brilliant and I really do hope to see a season 9 of this
best rewrite I've seen thank you so much! This is such a beautiful fleshed out version of events I love how grounded the world feels with politics playing such a huge role Bless you for utilizing the hell out of Gendry I cannot wait to see how this story develops
definitely better than the show, not sure how DnD got hired, actually I do. they´re connected. i like how the geography of your story makes sense, no warp drive sail boats. maybe you can go into more detail about fortress siege tactics?
Damn Never really got into Game of Thrones and even more deterred after the talk of the last seasons. But this would've been amazing and most certainly showed more character arcs and overall epicness. Look forward to what else you got coming
So this was good for the most part--I am enjoying it a lot. I like how you bring back in the Iron Bank. As with your last rewrite, I also feel that you are taking Daenerys down a darker path in a somewhat convincing way. I do appreciate how you still have her listening to Tyrion AND Tyrion being smart still. I think what you do with Ellaria, Doran, & Tristran works quite well. I very much appreciate how you are using the geography of Westeros in telling the story e.g. I love the sensible discussion of retreating to the Eerie to about the army of the dead & the nice way you up the tension by having the wights & white walkers go around the wall & I also the logical way that you had the Night King gain control of Viserion. However, you mistakenly refer to the First Men as the Andals here when talking about the war between the Children of the Forest & the First Men. I also want more about the Night King. WHY has it taken so long for him to move? What does 'revenge' mean for him? Killing everyone? How is it he was able to rebel against the Children's control in the first place? I also want to reiterate something I remarked about in comment on your last video: one of the great parts of GoT in seasons 1-5 ( & to a much lesser extent season 6) is how it is concerned with the interests, opinions, & actions of the common people e.g. the High Sparrow gained power both because so many of the people of Westeros are religious & because so many of them are sick of the unjust distribution of resources in Westeros. The Brotherhood without Banners is also explicitly anti-Westerosi feudalism (which is awesome!). So what is going on with the common people in this? In Essos the show makes clear that not only did Daenerys have interviews with the common people of Meereen to listen to them, she also had policies about them, not just ending slavery, but setting up something of a social safety net. I want to know what Daenerys is doing for the common people in Westeros? If Daenerys is behaving in a tyrannical way towards the nobility--who have their wealth & power merely by birth not merit & have unfair power over the common people--I'm not sure I really care that much provided that she is truly also engaged in policies that help the 99% of Westerosi. One of the reasons why the final two seasons of GoT was such a disaster is that it ends up saying that 'feudalism is awesome & trying to change the world for the better is dumb!' which is a horrible theme. Again, I'm ok with Daenerys going dark, but I still want an affirmation that it is possible to change the world for the better for the poor masses.
Mycella still might have a claim to the iron throne even though danaereys said that she is not a baratheon most people would not believe her, and might think it is just a way to make sure that people dont rally around myrcella.
Good take on it but most everyone knows Cersei's kids aren't truly Roberts. Cersei's relationship with Jaime and their children had been exposed long before Daenerys got Westeros.
@@sydnitheromantictaylor112 it has been exposed by stannis who, too the people is a jealous uncle who renounce his fathers religion, join a foriegn religion that they believe is evil. Then tries to claim the throne by claiming that Cersei children isnt roberts. so the smallfolk believe that it is a rumor made up by stannis in order to claim the throne, and dany is doing the same thing. Also the smallfolk hates dany i dont think they would believe her
I was impressed with your version of the Star Wars Sequel trilogy, so I am looking forward to seeing how you plan to salvage this almighty train wreck since it started going off the rails as far back as season five.
Tbh what i would do is that i would make than Dany would be insulted by what Olenna says and would tell Drogon to eat her alive. It would makw the audience hate Dany and would be the kind of the point of no return for her character
Also, I just realized that what you do with the Iron Bank in the previous season works well-it makes sense for the bankers to switch from supporting Cersei to Daenerys as in universe that is what they do & your point about it is well earned-I’m less comfortable with what role they are doing this season. Would Daenerys willingly accept the debt owed to the bank from the reigns of Robert, Joffrey, & Tommen? Given that the bank profited from the slave trade and perhaps supported the sons of the Harpy (I might be wrong about this, but I don’t think this is ever explicitly stated in the show but I think it’s implied) would Daenerys really be willing to alienate Olenna to pay back the Iron Bank? When the United States defeated the pro-slavery rebellion of the Confederacy in its civil war it pudlicly repudiated the debt the Confederate government owed to French & British banks that backed the Confederate government. Certainly I can believe that Daenerys would honor the loans from bank she incurred during her war against Cersei, but I don’t think she would be willing to accept the debt incurred by three men she considered usurpers.
Please for the love of got finish this series. This was worst than reading half finished fan fiction, I checked the date of upload and was sure the next part would be done by now.
I don't like how bad Dany is portrayed here but I have to admit albeit with difficulty that it was done with a lot more care and in a way that could actually have made sense. Although even with all that it seems like Dany is the one bad person and every other character is well behaved. It all hinges on Dany again like the real season 8 did and that was one major reason I felt that it failed because the other characters have their own agency and thus can also influence the plot. Here everything major that happens besides the night king is influenced from whatever decision Dany takes.
To that point, when you’ve got 2 massive fire breathing dragons, an army like the unsullied and the Dothraki, and you’ve made yourself queen, it’s difficult for any decision she makes to not be an action that everyone else is forced to respond to. Dany holds the best hand at the table and everyone, including her, knows it. Yes everyone else has their own autonomy but by this stage of the game, no one is stupid enough to declare they’re king or declare independence and think everything will be fine, it’s be tantamount to suicide. Plus if anyone did it’d feel like it came out of left field, it wouldn’t even make sense for the North to declare independence since they’re focused on the much bigger zombie army at their doorstep.
I completely agree! The issue with season 8 was character assassination of danny and turning her into a colossal b#*ch over a season. Here it seems like that as well. In book and the earlier seasons, she is a kind person; one does not take 180 character turn over a very brief period of time (at least in my opinion)
@@natashak9335 the thing is even here Dany has her justifications. It's just that there are drawbacks. Hopefully by the end of this rewrite there is some justice for her unlike the real show
So there is no love affair going on between Jon and Dany in your version? Keep going man! Exited to know how you will wrap this up. Fenomenal job so far!
I like your version, really like it, but I have to say that whilst I do like it, I do wonder about character’s who were in your version who are in the show, or characters that could have been killed off that you have alive or have not said. For example, Bronn, I feel like he properly would have died in Season 7 in your version at Casterly Rock. Podrick, I feel like if you killed him when Sansa and Brianne were attacked it would add more weight. Eddiston Tollett, I feel like a raven would have done the same job of telling them about the attack on castle black and finally Meera and Howland Reed. If Bran in your version is still learning would he still be a jerk or would he not, of not would Meera stick around, I know I sound a bit greedy but I am just curious.
-Eddison Tollett doesn't get randomly killed. -Daenerys inability to compromise leads to her downfall. WELP, that checks all my boxes. This version is now canon.
This is definitely better than the final season they gave us. To me with 6 (or in your case 10) episodes, the main theme for the final season should've been more about the white walkers wreaking havoc across the 7 kingdoms. The Night King should've been the biggest and final threat in the series, NOT the politics because we started this show off with the white walkers and it's been preached for 7 seasons that the iron throne isn't going to mean anything when there's an existential threat coming for everyone. I also would've liked to see the Starks reconnect as a family, they should've mentioned the death of Rickon and talked about the traumatic events they went through while they were separated. In the shows final season and in this version ( I'll give you credit it is better than season 8) but there's too many story lines going on with so little time that it still feels "all over the place" narrative-wise. Not saying these story lines are bad but we needed at least 2 more seasons, even if season 8 was a full season it's still not enough to earn this ending. Dan and Dave shouldn't have done the ending they did. It would've been smarter to do something more in line with season 7.
You could of made dangerous a good queen and helps everyone and let’s the north independent and ask for them to be an ally and after they take Westeros they unite planet earth as one ruled buy the targareyns
Uhh why why would Danny agree to pay the iron bank back when she didn’t even need their money or help because she had her own armies and dragons to conquer all of westeros and to be honest she would be baffled that they would think she would pay back Circeis or any of the usurpers debts in the first place in conclusion the the iron bank can get facked
Even though she can probably defeat the iron bank with the dragons Tyrone would advisor why making all this headache herself because she just causing more diplomatic issues
it was written really well so you deserve your props for that, but i don't understand why everyone is forcing this mad queen daenerys thing. it just doesn't feel natural.
Oh but she's not the mad Queen. I think she's a bit drunk with power from her experience in the east. I think in a season 10 remake she will come to her senses and see the error of her ways or she will die if she does not let go of her power
I do not believe dany should have taken the throne because of her dream in the house of the undying she saw the throne and turned away from, it seems like foreshadowing
Please continue this, it's been really good so far and I'm sure it'd only get better in Season 9 and beyond.
