After over 40 years motorcycling I sold my big bike and got a C125. Have done nearly 13,000m and I love it, Fantastic for the Welsh lanes and hills, I do all the maintenance, it has been totally reliable and I just love every ride. I even went out in the rain today just for fun and enjoyed every moment.
I've just got a c125 after selling my GS1250. Should of done it a long time ago. Great fun and I'm not to far from you, so will be checking out that campsite. 👍
Hi mate from Galway Ireland 🇮🇪...I just wanted to say I would love the bike and the place for camping...I was in Wales couple of times is beautiful.. and we are Celts too I believe... Scottish Welsh and Irish
Just a small tip for lighting a fire. Take a pencil sharpener and use it on small sticks and twigs to make your own kindling. It's small and so doesn't take up any space. Just an old army trick and makes lighting a fire a doddle.
Great video young man,I’m 72 but still love riding my bikes and always will. Bikers never grow up,well I haven’t, I have two KawasakiGPZ550 D1s just right for an old guy. Keep your videos coming, I enjoy them.😊
The postman here in Japan use a variation on these for light mail as well as automatic scooters i love hearing that clack clack of the shifter as they go up the road a few meters stop get off and get on back up to 2nd stop get off repeat. Will get a c90 myself sometime soon i have a honda grom.
I’ll look out for you at A&D in Denbigh when you go bike shopping. I’m often there! Was hiking around the back of World’s end and Horseshoe pass this weekend too. Lovely part of the world. FWIW my mate had a classic 350 and loved it. He did the Snowdonia 360 3 day tour on it and it had plenty enough power for him.
I love that bike. Much like I love my modern CT125. I do find myself wishing it were powered more heavily, though. Something in the 350-400 range would be nice.
Great video, loved the starting of the fire with gas, made me chuckle 😂 Tiger Tims are excellent to keep in your kit and don’t smell, Ferro rod or bic lighter does the trick. Thanks for sharing 🙏🙏
I run a CB125F honda as my small bike & a Classic 350 as my big bike (+an SH300 scooter winter hack). The Classic 350 is great, it'll cruise comfortably at 60-65mph and has ample power for hilly areas, add to this I get between 110-120 mpg and a 220 mile tank range - i've done 10,000 miles in 18 months taking it to Yorkshire, Wales (twice), Shropshire etc and its been a great bike. However my little Cb125F is my go-to everyday bike, thanks to 160 mpg, 60mph top speed and a staggering 350 mile tank range.
im 65 and i decided to leave my cub 90 at home and did a solo trip to the peak district on my honda innova 125. just that bit more power made the difference . i also have the exact same sleep pad and its cheap for a price as it sounds like your sleeping on a crisp packet. top tip leave the pot noodles alone as they make your willy shrink ..fact..by the wayfarer packet meals they are very good .piri piri chicken is lovley ..and sticky toffee pud for afters ..
Ive just downsized from a B M W K75c to a Royal Enfield Meteor 350cc , it does everything i want , i like the idea of simplicity with a single cylinder engine , air cooled no faffing with radiators , does very well on juice , ive been all over Wales including the Horse shoe pass , great little bike , but its your choice as to what you want , great little video by the way 😀 😊
I’ve had an interceptor 650 for a couple of years and it’s a really fun bike. Chugs along at low revs like a classic and then comes alive when you give it some beans, easy to hit the rev limiter though. Looks great, sounds great, comfortable seating position with a low seat, surprisingly nimble, cheap parts. Can’t fault it really. Only thing I would recommend is changing the standard exhaust cans as they add a lot of weight.
I've took my scooter tent camping loads of times.. I always worry though if I have to leave it some place far from where I'm camping as we have to many people stealing bikes or scooter even if you locked it.. alarmed it etc . Here in North Yorkshire. I love to ride out. Never in a rush to get there.. speed kills . Camping make me feel alive and spot of fishing too. Camping stove is what I had first time out mate?
I had a C70 in the 70,s.Did 13 thou on it going to work etc.Brilliant piece of kit.But if you,ve already had a Himalayan, maybeit,s time to go up to the the parrallel twin 650 engine.
I've got the same stove, dirt cheap but works well,I'm in Thailand living I'm from Wales, take it everywhere I go for tea and coffee, cheap hotels don't have kettle. Plus I ride a small honda most days 125 scooby 🙏🏴
I don't know much about the bikes available now but the kind of bikes that have given me most pleasure include Honda CB100N, CB250RS and XBR500 and Kawasaki GPz305. I have had an Enfield but it was a Lightning 540 which was one of the more traditional models based on the original Bullet engine. I suppose those gas cylinders have a built in valve. My camping stove is the type that punctures the cylinder so can't be dismantled until it's empty.
Very important to take a few spare new spark plugs! I’ve got a Yamaha 400cc 2017 loads of storage space under seat ! Massive givi back box ! Only 3,400 miles on the clock ! In pristine condition ! You can buy it of me if you want ! Ideal for what you need ! Camping ! £3500 if your interested ! Bikes in south east London !
I am 70, and have got a Benelli TRK502 500cc (not the X model) bike, no problems at all after 6 years of camping/ motorcycling. I take a 4 person tent for plenty of room and i have got my other items down to 15 which go in my panner bags and top box.
If you get a Lifan see Adam at pit bike spares (Worcester) I dropped one in my Dax Clone and it’s done well over 13k abused miles before I only removed due to vibration, only changed oil 3/4 times installed in 2010, engine delivered for £180 cheaper to buy new motor that repair it.
I recently bought a Honda rebel 500. Lovely bike to ride. Nice and light and low to the ground. I had a royal alloy tg300s scooter nice to ride, but it was underpowered. Bought a rack and box and am looking forward to trying out what you did next year here in Ireland.
Fantastic! You’re living the dream. On a bigger bike you’ll miss scenery, a C90 is light, easy, fun, instantly recognisable & classic. Iv just got one and plan trips like yours..to me it’s a hark back to my misspent youth of the early 80s. Since Iv had serious big bikes but my C90 sane colour as yours gives me a huge smile 😃. Question what name is your phone mount? Have fun by the way…Ian in Cornwall!
Really enjoyed this, thank you. Nathan just went through a video with the general message, "how/where you going to use it?" We've got wonderful choices. My favorite bike is my 1st generation Himalayan, it's the best fit for the riding I enjoy the most. But there are choices in the garage, I'm fortunate to be able to tune the machine to the ride. The bikes you mentioned would/could all serve you well, take a reasonable look at all of them!
Honda Cub- the bike that built the Honda empire. C90 is great for riding at a slow pace and just enjoying the scenery. I've seen them on motorways but not a great idea really. Cg125 classic will give a sensible 50mph touring speed. Thing is with the C90....they cost pennies to run/fix.
Depending on your local prices I would also try Kawasaki W800. In some parts of the world the Interceptor is very cheap compare to the W800, but in Europe the cost difference is only around 10-15%. The interceptor is nice but I'm not sure about it's seat ergonomics for long jorneys, I tried one several years ago and the seat felt like a nerrow bench, the rest of the bike felt nice though.
If you struggle with bike weight I'd steer clear of the Interceptor as it's around 220kg and it feels heavy, also if you have short legs you may not flat foot it . The Classic 350 is a great bike I'm on my 3rd and although not quick it will maintain 65 - 70mph all day long with bags of low down torque. The other one I'd look at is the 350 Meteor, I've had 3 of those too, love em! Road test both and see what you think. There are some great bargains out there at the moment with a new Classic for around £3800 on the road and a new Meteor for around £3300.🙂👍
Hi! The Interceptor is only about 800mm seat height, perfect height really. weight only bothers me when the bike is also tall if you get me? I tried out an Africa twin for size, with its 900mm seat height and over 240kg weight and I just thought, nope! 😅
Nice vid mate… how many times did I try and will my daft Tomos 50 over a hill! Just buying a Burgman 650 for something different … after having just about everything else… wish me luck👍🏻
Unfortunately the CT model isn’t available in the UK unless you pay silly money for an import. probably would have had one of them at one point otherwise. I bought a classic 350 in the end :)
Well my 2 pence for what’s it’s worth would be to ask yourself what you will use the bike for? If you are only going to potter around wales then the 350 might be great and cheap, if however you might want to potter around wales and on occasional trips further afield you might be better off with the interceptor? The new Royal Enfield 450 might be the best compromise 🤷♂️
I've had an interceptor since 2019 I camp on it regularly so I'm biased I don't do light weight prefer comfort I base camp not tour it suits me all the best hope you find what suits you 👍🎨
I too really like the look of the classic 350 and I have seen vids of people touring on them, but the lack of power is always questioned. I think I will eventually get one, but its always hard choosing a bike that is right for you. Have you lost contact with big Tony, you always had great banter with him? Keep the videos coming they are always entertaining ATB Big Dave Scotland
Hi again Big Dave! I still see him now and again, he’s been busy with other things so hasn’t been doing any riding recently that’s all. I’ll tell him the Tony fans need their fix when I see him next 😅👍
Hello. Nice video thanks. Just wondering if you rode past my house yesterday afternoon at Dolau on the A488 Penybont to Knighton Road and waved or nodded hello to me as I was standing by my gate? Cheers Mike
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Those C90’s have a big jump in ratio from 2nd to 3rd where it revs it’s nuts off in 2nd then way to low to pull in 3rd. But that’s just my opinion. I’ve got the new 125cc cub. 19 plate & it goes well tbh. Apart from hills. 😜 As for a second bike I’d test ride the interceptor just to feel the weight as they are rather heavy. You really feel it lifting off the side stand. They go well though. If you like the classic 350 try & pick up the classic 500. Not much more power but a lot more torque so it pulls like a train up a hill whereas the 350 classic struggles a bit so I’ve seen on UA-cam videos. T100 Bonnie’s can be had for good money second hand too. Guzzies also.
Yea Bonny 865 is definitely an option! I look at the c125 sometimes too, just don’t think I’d want the 90 and the 125 versions at the same time 🤔 thanks for watching! 👍
I’ve just sold my YBR 125 to fund a Japanese C90 import. I’m 70 years old and should know better, but what the hell, this life isn’t a dress rehearsal. I’m thinking of getting a helmet cam, any recommendations?
I recently bought the Meteor 350 Fireball, £3200 inc on the road from Moto GB who are selling them off. They used to be the importer but no longer are, so they are selling off their stock of them. The Meteor is excellent, I highly recommend it. I used to own a Scram, the finish level and comfort of the Meteor is much better and more solid, even though it’s currently a cheaper bike. But if you want the step up in power to the interceptor, then they are also currently fantastic value as well at £5200 brand new on the road. Good luck with whatever you decide. 👍
@@thatwelshman4518 Plenty of good used ones around now. I have the classic and also being of the vertically challenged (29" IL) I also bought the low seat and it really made a difference to getting your feet flat on the ground. I also fitted the heel and toe lever as I was never comfortable with the standard lever and you should be used to that lol The 350 is happy at app 50/60. It will do 70 but you feel you are thrashing it. Plenty of torque so will plod around all day up and down hills with little gearchanging at 50 mph + which is what you want on those back roads. If you are thinking faster roads at speed then the 650 twin might be better? If you go with the classic look around for a used one as most owners will have added a few extras. I've never seen one but you could have a look at the bullet version same as the classic but with a dual seat although with the classic you could run with a solo seat and get plenty of gear on the back.

I’m 66. First bike was a Puch Maxi 50 years ago! Great fun, but really battled up hills. Went on to a CB 175 which seemed like a “big bike” when I was 17 😂. Sounds like you should try one of the Triumph 400s. Great reviews all over UA-cam. Smashing video - keep it up.
