The sugar on the jelly, the glasses, the horoscopes, the little details scorcese added to emphasize her childishness is great
Older women still use horoscopes.
@@MLedZeppelinZoSoA they stupid
The details is all about the new generation and the modernday life style . Junk food and hippies of the 70s
Is that why i immediately liked her n feel close to her?
Jodi Foster was only 12 or 13 when she played this roll
This is maybe the ONLY scene in the entire film where Travis seems like a 95% normal guy. Like, sure, he's still a little bit weird and awkward, but he plays the role of concerned older brother very convincingly. Every other interaction he's had with people throughout the film always had a hint of something darker just under the surface, but this was a surprisingly gentle and touching moment in such a tragic film.
because next to Iris he seems normal, lol
i mean, he’s a bundle of PERSON Types, both noble & deeply flawed • this is largely the point of that kind of outlandishly over dire or mission driven protagonist where they’re still sympathetic, & without even mentioning this largely mysterious figure is SEVERELY p.t.s.d.
anyhow, 1 of the all-times, T Y Paul, Marty, R D, J F, & Senator Palantine
The way he was telling Iris that she was supposed to live like any normal teenager looked as a concerned father about his daughter
Maybe becouse everybody is like that. But the society imprison
The people that call him an incel are loser feminists who deserve to rot
Every time I watch this scene I'm just astonished at the sheer skill of Jodie Foster. I mean, she was like, 12 years old here, and her performance is so incredibly natural and understated that she hardly appears to be acting at all. Just brilliant.

Love that line.
that was one of the many lines they chose for Scorsese's career montage at the AFI awards in 2010.
all the lines are great
The line You're his little piece of chicken was ad lib. Fosters laugh was genuine because she thought it was funny and it was the first time she experienced a non scripted line. She thought she screwed up the scene, but the word cut never came so she continued after her laugh.
yes, Martin Scorsese liked that line so much that he decided to replace jodie foster with an actual piece of chicken in taxi driver 2
@@alex-dc2zx 😂😂😂😂
Even at that age, she had good instincts.
Source
The way De Niro stumbles over his words, whether he's acting or just bad at remembering his lines, it comes out so authentic.
And Jodie at just 12-13 carries so much charisma in this scene, I could see grown young women at the time wanting to emulate her mannerisms and personality.
I watched an interview with her on here recently. She says Deniro phoned her and asked her to go into town and hang out so they would be comfortable with each other. They did that several times and she said he was a man of few words and she'd just act like a twelve year old and mess around a bit and chat with strangers etc. Deniro later made her do the scene over and over and throw in a bit of improvisation. He was a good teacher and that all produced this great scene.
DeNiro's performance as Travis is one of the greatest on film - but it's startling how fantastic Foster is in this scene, at only 12 years old
Foster has always had something about her. I think she's under rated and perhaps the fact she seems pretty reserved and private has denied her some of the much deserved credit.
she was 14
She already is 100% Jodie Foster. In every single details. Marvelous.
I was trying to think of a way to say what you said here. You stated it perfectly. 100%

Also, Jodie Foster is actually 12 in this film and she's going toe to toe with Robert DeNiro, one of the finest film actors of the past 50 years, and not only holding her own but stealing the scene.

The genius of Jodie Foster is inexplicable
There's a profound beauty in Taxi Driver, with Travis's journey as he grapples with his inner demons, specifically PTSD and disassociation. Amidst a world tainted by corruption and sin, he finds solace in helping a young girl who seems lost in this dark realm. She becomes his anchor, representing purity that he's determined to shield from the harsh realities of society's decline, both for her sake and his own. Travis is acutely aware of his own descent into hopelessness, and this awareness fuels his determination to prevent her from becoming another casualty of the grim environment they inhabit. She's the only thing that makes sense in his madness.
Well said. The movie is a masterpiece and Travis is the quintessential anti-hero
Such a compelling scene. I can watch it over and over again.
What an eye-opener. DeNiro & Foster. His first breakout role. Her first recognition as a serious film actress. And the rest, as they say, is history.
1:00 That emotion switch right before and while asking "Who is the killer" is incredible acting on Jodie's part. She was prodigy 100%
Saw Jodie Foster in an interview saying that before they filmed, De Niro would take her to lunch and say literally nothing until she got bored and started looking for other things to do. I think that's why she has that genuinely adorable laugh in this clip. She was totally at ease with him by the time they filmed the scene.
Now Jodie Foster proved that she was a incredibly talented actress with only 12 YEARS OLD.
“You know what he told me about you? He called you names…he called you a little piece of chicken.” LMAOOO!!!
Favorite part😂😂 she laughs
Apparentlythat laugh was real because he was ad libbing with that chicken line.
She reminds me of Chloë Grace Moretz, not only by the acting but also the voice.
When she was laughing at the end she reminded me of a young Dakota Fanning at that same age. Blonde, blue eyes, and Dakota was always laughing and giggling in her interviews.
3:27 Travis was so real for this hahaha
To say Robert De Niro is the greatest actor of all time is a HUGE understatement
He's taken on too many roles that are beneath him imo. Fortunately, unlike popular music stars, the potential for another stunning performance is always there with actors.
It is also a HUGE overstatement.
