It’s no wonder she seemed so seasoned in that role. She had been acting for years before that. She was so relaxed and mature for her age in that film. What an artist.
@@tacotom3492 She is ten times more talented than those two. I know Shields went to Princeton, but that was ridiculous. Foster went to Yale and deserved to be there.
+Abel Villa (The Cynic) True..But some people can let their guard down in such interviews and you can sense something about their personalities..Of course impossible to know unless you get to know them personally
+Meddi N ability to be in a reasonable amount of good films, to be able to silently say 'im an actress, you dont need to know about my private life', to be looking great in her 40s
I hate to say it but I've never seen the movie. I was in college when it came out so therefore knew the subject was dark and uncomfortable that the actress was so young. Definitely need to add it to my bucket list.
Jodie Foster has started in 2 of the absolute top 10 American films ever made in Taxi Driver and Silence of the Lambs. She is such a wonderfully talented and brilliant actress and I have nothing hit admiration and respect for her and the choices she’s made throughout her career.
I remember a great interview where Scorsese walked Foster through the final shoot-out scene step-by-step (introducing the actors, pointing out where the blood squibs would go out, camera placement, etc) so rather than be horrified she was fascinated by the filmmaking process.
+Andrew Wallock She's incredible. I think it's that she's hard to relate to when you see her on stuff like this or even in her movies that makes people either fall in love with her acting or entirely forget it. She's really intense and that's hard to appreciate for a lot of people, especially in women.
She isn’t underrated she has just limited her acting in films and has always shunned celebrity, whenever a list is made of greatest actresses she is very high on the list
The thing is Jodie Foster doesn't act often and is more concentrated in directing now, while she's one of America's greatest actresses, she values privacy above anything else and that's why people don't know much about her except for what's out there and her massive body of work
I humbly disagree. Look at her interview in 1979 and her glow was of the charts. She has the mature attractive look but nothing tops her youthful exuberance.
I know she’s a lesbian, but this guy is still in love with her. She is so talented and beautiful. I am the same age as her and have loved her as long as I can remember. May she always be happy.
She's like, the most confident, least arrogant person to come out of hollywood ever, super talented and intelligent but you can just tell she's grounded af. Legend.

You don't want to miss "A Very Long Engagement" with Ms. Foster, she's as fluent in French as in English and her performance is one of the best I've ever seen. She's heartbreaking, lovely and unforgettable.
This is amazing. I'm an aspiring filmmaker myself and I have always wondered how all these pros like Scorsese dealt with uncomfortable scenes. I'm a massive giggler myself and have always worried I'll come across as unprofessional if certain scenes were a bit harder for me to direct (I'm only human and giggling is my natural response to embarrassment). It's so helpful and encouraging to know Scorsese has the same struggles! :)
hard not to look at this and NOT appreciate her incredible poise, grace and beauty. what a lovely woman. watched TD for the first time ever last night.
That discussion about her being a more seasoned veteran in a way than de niro or scorcese is basically just how her character in the film thinks and acts
I had to go fact check what she said at 2:35 because I thought it sounded ridiculous that a 13 year old Jodie Foster had made more movies than a 33 year old Robert De Niro in 1975, and I was right. By that point Foster had been in 5 films while De Niro had been in 13.
Wow, I never thought of their previous work experience, but as Jodie says she did have more of it when they did Taxi Driver, I just checked IMDb, De Niro has just 14 acting credits listed before it to Foster's 35.
I think a film like The Godfather Part 2 makes up for it and versus all the little kid stuff young Jodie did-- quantity over quality situation whenever she talks about how she knew what to do. A child actor's resume over The Godfather Part 2... lol
Happy 60th birthday to Jodie Foster 11 19 It is great you made your professional goals a reality and you are one of the best at your choice. The best part about you is that you are good with that
She is so awesome. Really one of the best actors of all time. Brilliant child actor as well I mean she was like the same as she is now when she was 12. Some kind of genius or something love her.
alot of people say that...but I disagree. I think someone like Jennifer Lawrence is a better actor. Everyone says I'm crazy but my reasoning is almost every movie DeNiro or Pacino or the like are in, they're basically the same character. Little tweaks here and there, but very VERY similar. Whereas with J-Law, the characters she plays are nothing like who she is in real life... just a thought.
+Angelique Laforese actually not trolling at all. You don't agree? Think about it. Ever see an interview with DeNiro? Isn't he extremely similar to the characters he plays? It's almost like he's not acting, he's just being himself, just more exaggerated.

I did see the remake of Freaky Friday, the one with Jaime Lee Curtis, and I may well enjoy the original if I ever get around to watching it.
Travis Bickle is one of the most interesting characters in cinema, and taxi driver is a true masterpiece
I think it's fairer to say Paul Schrader is one of the most interesting screenwriters in cinema, and his work was a true masterpiece.
He didn't write the screenplay
Paul Schrader wrote the screenplay.
His new movie with Ethan Hawke is supposed to be terrific.
I relate to Travis a bit, the loneliness part at least. I keep looking for films that are like it.
