  • Okinawa has been very warm and there was even a warning of sun / heat stroke on that day in the city where I live. Being along the river and feel some cool air in the nature was a perfect idea so I headed up north. I got a DD tarp recently so I brought it with me and got to practice building a shelter as well. It was challenging and took a while to build a shelter but I'm excited to learn how to build other kinds of shelter and variety of knots.
I've been enjoying using my Firebox nano which I got recently. It was so nice to have a campact and slim wood stove since my backpack was full with all the gear I brought already. The experience of cooking with the stove was great even when I needed to cook for a long time. It lasts a decent amount of time if you flip the bottom plate up and make a small Swedish torch light. Hope you enjoy the video :)

For a first attempt the tarp setup wasn't bad at all. I would sugest other spikes for the tarp, round and skinny doesn't sit that sturdy in the ground.
I have a couple DD hammocks and DD Tarps, I stopped using them since the weight of them is too high, in my old age I have become a gram wheeny.. I really do enjoy your videos. Greetings from Sweden.

If you're using the tarp just as a simple sunshade or for rain showers, there's an easier configuration!
Fold the tarp once diagonally to make a triangle.
Then peg down the base of the triangle, and the remaining end use a tall stick to hold it up (and obviously tie the stick down!).
It's simple, quick, effective and 'tidy'.

Your videos make me smile every time, kiitos. So... you went back to the mighty Amazon River. It's beautiful. Fortunately, you didn’t come across a jaguar this time either while exploring in the jungle.

Glad you have your arm back. Great job on the tarp. I have loads of setup ideas with this tarp in my channel. I love my tarp. I found big plastic pegs are better in soft ground more grip. I am no expert either I just keep practising. Your lunch looked amazing. Really impressed the nano stove held that big pot 👍👌😀

That metal stick not the best for the rocky surface.

Did you get the 4x4 or the 3 .5x3.5 DD tarp? soup look really good 👍always like putting a little water in the pot before cooking the bacon so it doesn't stick not much water just a little
