Love that the boys stayed friends! They both went through almost an identical experience, so they can relate unlike anyone else can! Hope they both are back to racing by now!
My auntie was in hospital with cancer she had multiple surgeries to get rid of it and while she was in hospital she made a friend and they stayed friends for ever till the end they was the best of friends and it was so beautiful to see them come together at the worst time of there lives ❤
All these patients are blessed with luck because they all could of ended up way worse..This hospital & the staff seem incredibly caring and amazing..I love how gentle they are with the patients..and they all are extremely intelligent and very brave to face all sorts of trauma everyday❤
I remember I did a shift in this emergency and the camera crew was there, I spent the whole shift trying to dodge the camera 🤣😂🤣🤣😂. Working there is not this dramatic even when their is an emergency, we are professionals, we have seen it all, we aren't panicked, the music and quick edits make everything seem more dramatic.
Of course it wouldn't seem dramatic to you, of course there's Edits to make it seem more "dramatic" but ultimately, for the patient and sometimes the families, it's still fairly dramatic for them, especially when it's a life threatening event.
It's pretty dramatic when you're the patient or the parent. I've had pulmonary emboli and I was absolutely panicking not being able to breathe. And watching my son with cystic fibrosis go into resus and then ICU was one of the worst things I've ever seen.
Ha, yeah, I'm not a fan of the music, it's a bit over-dramatic. I'm sure it must seem particularly over the top when you're working in that environment on a daily basis.
@@fightinamrah I had swine flu and broke ribs coughing. Drs didnt believe i was sick at all let alone had broken ribs from coughing until one Dr jabbed in the ribs to prove his point. He said it couldnt happen even then. Said i had most likely damaged some muscles. Then he got the xrays and learned that yes you can break ribbs from coughing. The most painful experience i have ever had. Break your ribs and then keep on coughing until you scream. Worst thing is they cant do anything to help except cure the cough.

I’m in uk and have very bad lung issues lung disease copd and have had a collapsed lung 12 times and had surgery 8 times for the lungs and there not as good as you think I’m uk I travel so far to see my surgeon he’s the best but if I go to my local hospital there terrible and do not care at all they left me with collapsed lungs for a week in a hospital bed on morphine then let me go home the next day a was in a helicopter on my way to Nottingham were I now only go because they sent me home with my lungs collapsed my mum found me on the floor unconscious and not breathing so yeah most uk hospitals are really bad but Nottingham are the best ❤
Private hospital staff in South Africa are exactly the same as these guys. Also fantastic facilities. Just run a mile from state "hospitals"... you go in with an ingrown toenail and they remove a kidney type of bad. And filthy AF
I wish our healthcare system could realize the value of comfort care in the ER. A nurse perhaps who is both useful when needed but comforts patients who are scared or under extreme anxiety. It seems to me it would be almost as helpful as the tiny amount of drugs they throw at you. Instead of TELLING you what you are feeling, they listen to what you are telling them. I've been in extreme pain many times in my life to the point where you can't get it under control because you either waited to long to get it under control or tried to tough it out, or my least favorite, the ER people tell you what you are feeling and that your not in pain, or your pain is in your head. This absolutely causes my extreme animosity towards ER folks. Our US ER people are not this kind, they treat you like drug seekers before they even know your story.
That’s evil they should not be doctors or nurses if they treat you like that my mum is a nurse and she cares so much and even for the family members she’s always hugging them and telling them everything is ok and they are doing everything they can she’s amazing sorry you have to suffer maybe move to uk we will take care of you ❤
Nurses and Doctor’s care here. The patients are completely different over here and are usually very rude, demanding and they don’t listen. Plus Trauma vs General ER are totally different patients. It’s tiring for staff and it’s frustrating because you want to help but when you help you get screamed at.
I suspect our Dr's and nurses in the US would be kinder and more respectful to their patients if their patients were kinder and more respectful. I know myself well enough to know that when I'm in extreme pain I'm not my best self. I'm thinking if we practice more kindness and respect in our everyday life instead of feeling entitled to immediate pain relief or action we would be a better society over all. These Aussies are kind even under duress and pain. I myself well try harder to be kinder and more respectful.
A friend of mine got bitten by a death adder and when the staff, in spite of his warning, removed the bandage he immediately got a bolus of venom moving through his body and it nearly killed him. They didn’t even have the antivenom on standby! So not all doctors are up to date on best practice for snake bites.
Good heavens! Where did that happen?? It's so important that people are educated about snakes. In Aus, it amazes me the level of ignorance in the general population. I've seen one on a SUBURBAN beach & a child wanted to play with it!! Luckily the parent put a stop to that.
I’ve had a collapsed lung 12 times it’s so painful I’ve gave birth 6 times and that’s a walk in the park compared to having a chest drain put in while your awake I’ve had surgery 4 times on my lungs and I can’t remember how many chest drains I’ve had Put in while been awake but I strongly recommend having gas and air to help with the pain wen they do put the chest drain in it should be offered to everyone in that situation and pain relief as it’s like having surgery but been awake you feel everything they do and it’s horrendous pain I feel so bad for anyone who has this problem I wil always have it I’m 38 and have had it every year for 11 years my lungs are not in good shape but I’m still here thank god and the doctors surgeon and nurses
If this show has taught me anything, it’s not to ride motorcycles, bikes on a road, a horse, climb a ladder or use a chainsaw on a tree. Those seem to always be the worst injuries. Luckily none of these things are my life’s passion, so i’m probably pretty good. I figure you can’t really avoid driving or having someone stab you. But like most of the other things I have lost my interest in because of this show.
It kinda made me laugh that they are saying that a large horse's weight is about 300 kilo. It's more like that its double that weight. Pony's that are like 1.38m weigh like 350 to 370 kilo's which is a healthy weight for them. So either it was a smaller pony or a very thin/under weight horse or they really have no clue about horse weights
🙄 You’re being overly pedantic. A non-veterinary doctor’s _animal biology_ terminology need not be perfectly accurate to be competent at performing the medical procedure to treat a snakebite. Their competency to treat the wound is more important than anything else. Also, you spelt it wrong. It’s V-E-N-E-M-O-U-S. I hardly think you’re in a position to be telling a doctor to use a word you apparently can’t even spell properly.
Broken bones can potentially cause internal bleeding, or could potentially cause ischaemia, depending on precisely how the bone(s) broke; the danger of internal bleeding should be obvious, but if you’re unfamiliar with medical terminology, ischaemia is the cutting off of blood supply to an area of the body. If the supply to the brain is cut off, ischaemia can cause a stroke and potentially subsequent brain damage from said stroke; in the case of broken bones, however, ischaemia can result in necrosis of an injured limb, which could potentially lead to the patient needing to have it amputated. Additionally, if the fracture is an open one (meaning part of the bone is sticking out of the skin), there’s a high risk of infection, which could lead to a similar outcome as ischaemia-gangrene leading to needing a body part amputated. They’re also _intensely_ painful (source: I’ve had two incidents of broken bones: one right tib/fib from a skiing accident when I was 8, and a broken thumb joint from a laser tag accident in 2011, when I was 23; both were absolutely _agonising,_ but thankfully also both closed fractures) and HEMS docs/Royal Flying Doctors are able to give more powerful painkillers than ordinary paramedics can. That’s why they’re air ambulance-worthy injuries.
As well as what @DarkJediPrincess said, they may well have been a long way from any hospital. They said the parents had a four hour drive, that would be a LONG drive with a broken leg.
Melbourne is the nearest trauma centre, the rest of the hospitals are not equipped to deal with potential serious head injuries or internal bleeding. And there are only a couple of other hospitals in that area of Victoria, neither of which are trauma centres. They would have been on a 4 hour ambulance ride by road. So better that they get air amboed in. Also most health coverage in Victoria has some coverage for if you need air ambo.

A large horse would weight way more than 300kg, most horses are 500-700kgs and than more for draft breeds

You need plates and screws or a tibial nail to repair leg fractures.

No you don’t. My daughter has had 2 broken legs and they healed great with only a cast up to mid thigh. No problems after her cast was removed.

I was dragged by horse age 19 concussion, open ankle fracture, back 3 broken vertebraes and 3 crushed disks. Wore brace 6 months
Once when I came out of anesthesia I asked the doctor if I was beautiful and would he marry me. I was thirteen 😂🤣😂
