When I was a child in the 50's we lived on a farm. My grandpa had a huge garden and we had some chickens so we had eggs with fried tomatoes, corn fritters ( though my Mom always used Bisquick instead of making it from scratch), and a dish Mom called scrambled mess - which was similar to your fluffy eggs. She would scramble the eggs with ham or sausage or bacon - whatever she had, potatoes, onions , green peppers or any combo of those she had available, and just before serving put some chedder cheese on top. However, we had this for supper, not breakfast. Served with sliced tomatoes and dill pickles.
My youngest introduced me to this channel. She is 15 and loves the hair tutorials and cooking. I myself have always loved everything about the 1930's-1940's since I was a kid, so perhaps she was 'infected' on one of my cleaning days when I tend to turn on some Vera Lynn or Dina shore. Either way we have even more we get to do together each time a new video comes up.
Congratulations on your engagement. I wish you both much happiness. I'm 56 and my mom has that Betty Crocker cookbook. I've always loved how it's got great basics in it. I enjoy your channel ma'am. I wish young ladies really knew just how much was expected from previous generations. Knowing the career and financial limitations even my mother had needs to be taught to kids today so they're thankful for those freedoms they have now.
We had a tomato that we needed to eat so I made tomato and egg breakfast. I decided to toast the bread instead of frying. The bread was toasting while the tomato and eggs and buttered the toast. My husband and I decided this is one of our favorite breakfast now. Thanks for sharing!
I don't comment very often. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever comment...but I really enjoy your videos so very much! I was born in 1963. Your videos really take me back. I love it! Beautiful channel!
I have one of the same cookbooks she has. My grandma gave it to my family because she used to bake Christmas cookies from it so my sister and I use her mom’s, my great grandma’s, old kitchen aid mixer and make those same cookies every year and give them to our grandma. The cookies do take a while, but are very much worth it in the end. I do recommend.

In large mixing bowl beat butter on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add sugar. Beat until combined, scraping sides of bowl as necessary. Beat in egg, milk, vanilla, and lemon peel. Wonderful. 1950's and 1960's are for me the best ages. All is perfect: music, movies, fashion, cartoons, products, commercials, life style at all. Only cars I prefer in the ages 1920 - 1950.
My mum grew up in the 50s and corn fritters were one of her absolute favourites - especially with some leftover corned beef (or roast lamb), mixed into the batter before frying. Thanks for reminding me.
You could chop the baked apples into the fritter batter, deep fry them in 1/4 cup amounts, drain on paper towels, dust with powdered sugar. Slightly sweet treat!!
Every Sunday morning, my grandma would fried chicken with gravy along with her homemade buttermilk biscuits 😋. This was early supper before church meetings and visiting other relatives for the day.
I was born in 1960 but have always loved everything about the 1940s-50s. Years ago I started collecting vintage cookbooks and have used them in my everyday menus. So enjoy your videos.
I watched this video with my almost 2-year-old and he loved it! He got especially excited at the Griddle Cakes. When I asked him if Mama should make them one of these days he started wiggling around and repeated "gwi cake" several times. So I guess we are having a new breakfast tomorrow :) Thank you!!
Your videos are such a breath of positivity and overall feelgood in otherwise troublesome/depressing times. It makes me happy to do chores and it motivates me to finish my school assignments! Thank you dearly!
My grandmother used to make baked apples. She would leave just a bit of the bottom of the apple so there wasn’t a hole straight through. That helped the stuff inside not leak out, especially when you move it for plating. So yummy!
I'm Japanese, but I love movies from the 1950s and am very interested in the fashion, home interiors, and especially food from that time. sage is also very nice with her hairstyle and fashion from that time.
Love hearing your "Hello Darlings" as know to settle in to visit with you! You reminded me of childhood cooking in the the '50s. We used bacon grease so much & velveeta cheese (which really isn't a cheese but so yummy) all the time. My Dad's speciality was scrambled eggs fried in bacon grease with cut up bacon, diced tomatoes, chopped green peppers & velveeta cheese. We called it Lewy-Lewy after his name. Served with peanut butter toast. Happy memories! Your other 2 recipes look yummy! TU, Sage! 🥰
When my mother decided to make breakfast for dinner for the fam, it was like a celebration…”bacon, eggs and toast for DINNER!? Mom’s flipped her lid!” Ha ha..it’s just something out of the norm and I still feel a hint of rebellion when I’m makin’ BforD! ☕️ 🍳 🥪 🍊 yaa-hum! 🙃
It's just gone 8pm here and this is a wonderful thing to do for the evening! Plan out what to eat in the morning 😂, thank you Sage, and great luck with your nursing! I'm greatly inspired by you 💛
I love your channel Sage, honestly my favourite channel on UA-cam. Love how you live, your clothing, cooking , decorating ideas is just marvellous. My favourite video is how you showed us how it was in the 1940's plus the beauty regime the woman did. Many blessings to you & Your family. Thankyou for creating such great videos 🥰🥰
I love breakfast and this gave me such inspiration to switch it up this week! Always love these videos, so cozy and refreshing. Wonderful as always, Sage!
Hi Sage, I love the effort and time you put into your content for us. It truly shows and you are unmatched in this UA-cam space. I gave you a shoutout in my vlog today as one of my ladies of inspiration. I have so much love for you and how you show up. I am 32 and seriously in awe of you girl! 💗
Love the music, the aesthetic, history and the tradition of these recipes! I feel like I’m back in time for all the good parts of it. My favorite memories of meals from mom, they really do taste different than anyone else! ❤️
hi from greece. i was shocked to realize that we have the same tablecloth. in fact my mothers tablecloth in our home when i was young. now im 53 and i have this tablecloth even now
The fried egg and tomato on toast is my new favorite breakfast! I would have never eaten tomato like this until I saw your video. I can't wait to try the others! Thanks for creating content that is calming and inspiring!
I watched this video a few days ago, and I already eat tomatoes with eggs and toast. An old friend ordered his food at Waffle House (US) with tomato slices instead of hash browns, so I started doing that at home. However, ever since I saw this video I’ve been eating my toast/eggs/tomatoes with a fork and knife as shown here and I swear it just changed my life. My hands are no longer covered in butter and yolk and crumbs. My sensory overload weight has been lifted and adhd satisfied because of cutting toast and I thank you lol
Momma used to make baked apples in the 1940s & ‘50s. Sometimes she would wrap each apple completely up in pie crust for Apple dumplings. We had an apple tree so this was a frequent treat.
My Mother had a recipe for corn fritters that used a can of creamed corn instead of fresh corn. Came out great. Usually served with applesauce and sour cream if you like sour cream.
Yes! Or unsweetened grass-fed yogurt which tastes similar to sour cream, and apple butter for a pioneer Southern American touch? 😋 (for anyone who doesn't know, apple butter is very brown and spreadable, it looks a bit like vegemite: apples cooked down with cinnamon and possibly other sweet spices. Very old fashioned & good!)
Good evening, Sage. Even though I wasn't born until 1961, my stepmom raised me a 1950s country housewife. Love the slower life I still fall back on certain things. Thanks for sharing! Creative Blessings!
These look absolutely delicious! I wish I was motivated to make something like that for breakfast! It's always boring old raisin (sultana) bran for me. 😆 Thank you for another cozy video, Sage. ❤️

Everything seems so delicious! I will make griddle cakes tomorrow for Thanksgiving breakfast. And I will definitely try the other recipes soon. Thank you Sage!
Between the recipes, your sweet voice, and the music, this was a delightful video. The corn fritters brought back memories of my grandma in her kitchen. Thank you
This is wonderful, as all your videos are! I'm going to try the eggs on tomatoes and fried bread, and I'm thinking of adding a thin slice of cheese between the bread and tomatoes. 😃 Thank you Sage. You're always a delight to watch! Love from New Hampshire, USA
I could watch that all over again. Everything looked so scrumptious, and I adore how you plate things up with a garnish. Those recipes give some great inspiration for flavourful breakfasts outside of the norm.
My Grandmother made many things ,when I was growing up ( she came to stay with us often ) and I adored the Baked Apples she would make . ... she would pour a little bit of warm milk over them, in the little serving bowls, add a sprinkling of sugar . She also added fresh grated nutmeg ,with the brown sugar mixture. The tomatoes and egg ,on toast, I will sometimes make that for supper, I add sliced cooked bacon over top of the tomatoes. I love this, all the recipes ❤ I’m trying the corn fritters now to serve with dinner. Toad in the hole was breakfast this morning. My mom used to make that for me when I was a little girl, I sometimes forget how simple foods can be so comforting. ☺️🥰🙏🏼
Hello Sage! This was the soonest video I could find. Anyway, I wanted to let you know how very thankful I am that I found your channel. I am much more of a younger person than others that watch these videos (11 to be exact), but I wanted to let you know that I have struggled and struggled to find what I liked. It is REALLY difficult to find a style at my age without being completely modernized just like every single person I see. I feel that of course many people have a different style other than what is trending, but I just think there isn't as much originality anymore like back then. But one day it had hit me, that I found my forever style which for me is the 1950's. and it's all because you opened my imagination more and made me think about the fact that there is more to style than what's trending. And I truly believe that some people are afraid to admit that they need some inspiration from someone that sees beyond the cover of the book about style types. So thank you so very much for showing me who I am! (I don't know if you do this but could you shout me out in the next video please? Thank you!)
Thank you very much, Sage They look delicious. I've made one similar to your eggs and tomatoes on toast. I scramble the eggs with chopped tomatoes and sliced mushrooms and then put it on toast. I like it but my boyfriend doesn't. He doesn't like mushy food.
I have a version of the egg/tomato one that I do that starts with putting fried eggs on a piece of toast, then adding some provolone cheese, then a bed of sauteed spinach, then the tomatoes. So delicious!
Love breakfast for dinner. One of our faves was eggs, ham, and muffins. Baked apples were often dessert. We had a neighbor who grew up in Pennsylvania. She made sausage with baked apples for dinner. Her apples were wrapped in a dough. It all sounds goid!
I so love your content! Your videos are so relaxing and I feel as if I'm getting a glimpse into history! The egg scramble is very similar to what I do, but I haven't used bread bits cooked in the bacon fat. I definitely will try this! I don't know why I haven't thought of frying tomatoes like that, super yum.
it feels like parents in the 50s took the time to make meals for their family and wanted to spend time with them. now it seems like nobody has the time to even make a home cook meal because they don’t have the time. it’s either frozen meals they pop in the mircowave or fast food
Yummy to all of them ! I do believe the fried egg and tomatoes plus the corn fritters are my favorites. ❤ Thank you for sharing these great recipes with us….God bless. 🙏🏼❤️

Thank you for making these kind of videos, I am obsessed with vintage
I so love your content! Your videos are so relaxing and I feel as if I'm getting a glimpse into history! The egg scramble is very similar to what I do, but I haven't used bread bits cooked in the bacon fat. I definitely will try this! I don't know why I haven't thought of frying tomatoes like that, super yum.
If I close my eyes, I can smell this video. Looks wonderful.♥️Thanks for sharing this.

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day 😊, thanks for the recipes 😋.
I loved this and would love to see more videos like this! 🖤
These all look so good!
I have the same Better Homes & Gardens New Cookbook. I love it! It's interesting how differently people ate back in those days.
it feels like parents in the 50s took the time to make meals for their family and wanted to spend time with them. now it seems like nobody has the time to even make a home cook meal because they don’t have the time. it’s either frozen meals they pop in the mircowave or fast food
I loved the antique whisk!
Memory lane... Seeing your vintage kitchen tools and dishes!
Definitely going to try them all!
Wonderful! I'm feeling inspired, thank you 😊 🙏
