- In this episode of ‘Editorial’, Mr. Sujit Nair discusses about the prevalent income inequality in India where Mr. Nair refers to a report by Goldman Sachs titled ‘The Rise Of Affluent India’. The report says 49.7% of India’s working population earns less than ₹ 1.25 lakhs annually while only 4.1% earns more than ₹ 8.3 lakh annually. The report further says that the working group that earns less than ₹ 1.25 lakhs annually, their income growth has been reduced to -2.5% while the age group that earns more than ₹ 8.3 lakhs, their income growth has increased by 12.6%.

Sir, been following HW News and your editorials for at least over two years now and this is by far my most favourite episode! You have very beautifully elaborated the economic state of this nation and the increasing income parity. The fact that development is not just bridges and temples if it's not serving needs of 50% of the population, is something which the country seems to have forgotten. I wish there was one MP or one political party who could just repeat your words in the parliament and create a mass movement around this. Alas!

What about 5 acres of land given to Mosque? What about charges that exists everywhere? Did government spent it's money for temple? Seeing how airport to small vender getting income, a lot of local persons get jobs(electricians etc)flowers etc that are used give income to farmers.
We are 1.43 billion Indians who are not all Hindus. So so PM should make them happy not at all necessarily with FREEBIES
If Hindus are politically intelligent as Muslims, Christians and even Sikhs. All three not vote BJP but we Hindus vote Christians, Christians only supporting parties, Muslims and Muslims only supporting parties foolishly. That's the difference. Since 2014 they stated voting unitedly to BJP which supports their cause as well, but upto 80% or even above have to woken up, if not jihadis, conversion mafia and beef brigades take over the country.
So far you the most unbiased guy in India in reporting political and economic matters. Thank you very much. Also very good for keeping the use of Hindi to the bare minimum as we foreigners will be left out otherwise.

He is fuming against God's Ayodhya Ram Mandir not 5 acres to Muslims in exchange the land that's not their but Hindus. This political illiteracy made Hindus not blink eye lids when lost Kashmir pandits genocide happened. Perhaps all other caste people not cared as their caste people not effected. Seeing how WB where Muslims are in considerable numbers. But how all minorities safe where we Hindus are in majority. To be true even became victims of all the minorities though majority.

Petrol price increased from 35 ruoees in 2004 to 75 rupees in 2014 during manmohan rule(128%)

Surjit, i met an ex. Indian Railway employee, who told me that when he retired 23 years ago his salary was 10,000/
He now gets a pension of 40,000/.
When i took VRS my salary was 36,000/
I now get a pension of 1650/ under the EPS 95.
The Supreme Court had given an order to set the pension at the last yearly drawn salary.
But the BJP government has refused to accept it.
Thats what they have been doing tobevey government employee. Orop was an election promise by them in 2014, what a joke.

Sujit ji you are doing an excellent job... without doubt every point you raise is of great value for awakening of all of us Indians... but its reach is only to those who follow English... need of the hour is that these very points are also raised in the Hindi language... because the population which follows Hindi is quite volumenous... and needs to be jolted the most to be awakened...
Am sure you would give this thought some immediate consideration... as it may be too late to save the democracy after a couple of months.... you can even collaborate with some prominent Hindi You Tube channel in case your Hind language channel has less subscribers.

Most english speaking educated analysts always sermonise that how the poor people should work hard and 'come up'. And how they don't have the financial discipline to repay their debts to the banks. Your compassionate view for the poor souls is praiseworthy.
The government dismisses agencies like goldmann sachs, Oxfam... etc as 'motivated'.
As for employment the government thinks swiggy, zomato, uber, rapido.. etc are quite sufficient.
Most of our educated but half baked countrymen think the roads, malls and temples are symbols of a new, confident and emerging india, in the international arena.
Thank God atleast the proven PDS is ensuring that people don't die of hunger. Tragically the government does not appreciate this food safety net.
Driving people away from farming, increasing import of food grains, pandering to the corporates and WTO... etc seem to be the agenda.
In the final analysis, it is reassuring to know that in every field there are still strong and intelligent people like you who are willing to stick their neck out for the have nots. Especially at this point in time where it's safer and convenient to 'not to say anything'.
