- Following government instructions, wage payments for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) are mandated to be conducted through an Aadhaar-based payment system (ABPS) starting January 1, 2024.

I am a retired postgraduate teacher and all my life taught post graduate and doctoral students . Now , thanks to the ADHAAR CARD SYSTEM, because of age, I can not get a SIM Card since my finger prints are not picked up by the sellers flimsy reader . THE ADHAAR CENTRES issued me a new card but still the problem persists. I can imagine a worker whose finger prints may not be easily readable due to his hard labour, how he can get this resolved.
Am so glad u brought out such an important issue. The rural folks are heavily dependant on government jobs and each time an attempt is made to, they lose their land for bribes, tuition etc pl keep bringing such issues to the fore
This should be a welcome move because I knew for the fact how contractors use Mechine to work and then have hundreds of Cards on different peoples name and flame bill.

This is long overdue process. Aadhar and Bank account seeding is required to stop corruption in MNREGA scheme. Those who are opposing this are only supporting Corruption in the name of poor.

Did you ever discuss the reasons why the ABPS is required? Workers keep changing their accounts and the respective programme officers fail to update the new account numbers This is because the workers fail to inform the latter when they take up jobs with another employer where they open another account. Therefore payments are rejected. So, if you have one unified system for all, the workers can take their money anywhere in the country - improving their mobility and allowing them to work in other places too, but still get paid, Btw, this scheme has been in use for 5-6 years and has been more effective than previous systems
As for spelling error differences, these can be rectified by going to the UIDAI with some sort of identification such as ration card / voter ID/ approved marriage certs, etc.
You have hit the nail on the head Mr. Nair. You are absolutely right when you say that poor people suffer because of the mistake of local data entry operator who can't even write their own names correctly. Any technology should actually benefit the masses. But then this is Modi's digital India. The faulty job card can not ensure guarantee payment but it can give you guarantee to vote.
Glad I got this editorial , those adhaar card making clerks should be pulled up and punished for wrongly filling the adhaar information in the card . Dismiss them .
The peoblem with Govt or any one is that when they are making these cards or whatever they don't ask or verify anything but then once we find a mistake in our own card then we need to prove that its me in the card and need to provide proof of a 100 documents since most of it they say will not be a proof when we show them. That is not right i feel, when they make any caed or whatever they need to do a proper proof reading and all and then get the thing done. I like the Karnataka Govt employees, when they found my driving licence there was an error they made they immediately changed it to and gave a new one. I dont understand why the other offices cant do the same

There is an ages tribal lady who is doing daily wage work but she has no aadhaar card number.
When I inquired about her ration card she stated that she didn't have it as she lost all her belongings when she moved from her village to my area.
Good move! Whatever story told is not of any use! We need authenticity of our people in some way, else over a period of time the natives will be replaced with you know who!
We common educated people after filling the pan card and aadhar card correctly the staff have made an error. Who is responsible for this mess. Is the govt or their staff is responsible?
This linking Aadhaar will reduce corruption, and money will be paid directly.

Every Minister, every MP in the country, every MLA in each stage get salary in not less than a Rs. One or two lacs per month. Their is paid from the taxes collected from the citizens, including the poorest of the poor in the country. It doesn't look like that they can ever understand what it is to go without a square meal. That is the reality, far from what is projected in international scenes. The top bras I our country seem to live in dream world, where everything is fine.
Empathetic information needs to know every citizen India.
Current MNREGA recipients don't protest their loss..going by their past performance, they will accept this change..to satisfy their loss they maybe given some food and money during upcoming election.. Pillars of indian democracy have already changed their color from White to Sxxxxxn

Sir there is lot of mismanagement going in mnrega funds let them put some process in place. I see in my village people work for 1-2 hours , they just work very basic and take the money for that day and go home. As a result work in the fields get affected as the same people are not motivated to work.

Sir, The only logical solution is to crate a robust grievance and redressal mechanism where the true needy can reach out to get their identities linked and rectified. Unless the system has digitisation and linkages to the identity, corruption will not end. If we can vaccinate the whole of India in a matter of months, this should not be difficult, but to the political will.
Go back to UPA era where agents appointed by government (Party) distribute the money. Why was this acceptable and beneficial system changed. It was excellent system where the rural workers were thrilled.

Because of some greatnpersons knowledge they added K as an initial to my name since my dads name is Kevin. Even though we did not ask for it since we have surname. But till now I am facing problems because of the extra K even though my dad is the same and i am the same and my everything is the same, but just because i flet that its okay that they made a mistake i now am facing this beautiful situation and now i have to put in the newspaper saying this me is the same me in with a Extra inital behind me. 🤦🤦🤦
