Hello friend...join us at Fans of Porcupine Tree on FB....I started it in 2009 to find other P.T fans and have become part of a great community and made many new friends !
That bass. These drums. The tasteful guitar and keyboard playing, the whole atmosphere of this song. Perfect. Who else is listening to this in March 2022?
It added another amazing dimension to moat of their songs. It's a crying shame that he and Colin are no longer in the best Rock band of the late 90s to 2010s
Just wanted to take a moment, 9 years later, to thank PPT for getting me through some of the darkest times I've gone through. This song in particular. You guys are the reason I'm still here today. Thank you!
Porcupine has the BEST live concerts I've ever seen in my life. They sound even better in live than in record. How they sound, the effects, the lights, the videos, everything is just perfect. I totally agree with you. Their sound and live concert is THE BEST.
Steven Wilson is a self-taught musician... Virtuoso of rock if ever there was one. His guitar work and guitar solos are like the best rock/blues singer emoting. Amazing. (He's no Eddy Vanhalen - and thank God for that.)
I truly love this band. As I have said before, to listen to them is pure bliss. Porcupine Tree are about as close to heaven as we can come on this earth-their music is intelligent, catchy, and impossible to categorize. They are wildly talented musicians, but never fall into the self indulgent overplaying of other groups that might be called progressive. They can bounce between so many moods and never miss a beat. Everybody watching this video needs to turn their friends onto PT. God Bless PT!
PPT is the band, i found myself looking for without even knowing about the process of it. It's like the overall spirit sums up my life.. i can't describe the intensity of its meaning to me. i found a life lasting love for sure. Also - as a drummer - Gavin, PPT and the Solo work of steven showed (and lifted) me not just (to) a new level but (to) a new dimension of experiencing and understanding music. thank you so, so much!
Anyone else find "In Absentia" a pretty disturbing yet beautiful album? Once you realise the lyrical inspiration is the dark and twisted world of serial killers, you find the music almost counterpoint to much of the darkness.
I don't know whose side I'm on I don't think that I belong 'round here If I left the stage would that be wrong? I tried to find myself a better way I got religion but I went astray They took my money and I lost my faith Rain keeps crawling down the glass The good times never seem to last Close your eyes and let the thought pass I tried the capsule and I tried the smoke I tried to aid escape like normal folk But I never seemed to get the joke These are my old clothes This is a new low This is my blood flow This is my headstone I spend my days with all my friends They're the ones on who my life depends I'm gonna miss them when the series ends Rain keeps crawling down the glass (Pull yourself together) The good times never seem to last
@XDrummerSteve agreed! words cannot describe Gavin's talents, its rare that a drummer can dress up slow/quiet songs with intricate fills and patterns and not overdo it. he nails it every time!
Yes but the process of creativity in PT was different working more like a band with chemistry , in his solos albums is different , great musicians supporting to him...
That ending is my favorite part of the song, it always gets me. When the song ends, i always turn back a little only to listen that fill again and again. Gavin is one of the best, his sensibility on the drums is incredible, like in the great ones!!!
I have listened to a LOT of music. All of these musicians are professionals. I can only imagine that they all have some sort of input in the final mix to some degree. They are masters of sound. Period.
this song put me on such a natural high, i feel so euphoric everytime i hear this song, let alone the screening by Lasse Hoile. Such a superb song and video.
Every single part of this song is groovy as fuck and not to forget Wesley's vocals here, absolute bliss. Damn Tilburg, lucky bunch! Thank you for the DVD.!
That is a superb song , great band..and what a fantastic audio mix...when you see them live there engineers always get it right..Front of house sound is so important to PT..
Victor Sanchez I would so much like to believe that Man can accept a " Sharing World". A substantial key to World peace it would be. It would work, without a doubt. My eyes of sixty years don't see it unfortunately.
Like many I'm a late-comer when it comes to PT and appreciating this amazing band. I'm seeing SW in about 2 weeks in SLC which I'm very excited about... But also like many, I prefer PT over Steven's solo work. The chemistry with Gavin, Barbieri, and even Wesley (who only toured with PT) is rock magic. SW is the heart of PT but the soul of the band is the chemistry of the band members. In an interview, SW gave credit to the contributions of all the members as "a band." So while SW's solo work is amazing, it's missing something special that the other band members brought to Wilson's own talent. --- If ever there could be a PT reunion I think I'd take a year off and follow them... Damn I wish I'd have known about these guys circa 2010 - 2012.
You would be correct in all of your assessments, this band is the best live period. There is not a lot of bands out there that can sound live as they do studio. This band can surely do that and actually bring it up a notch...quite amazing. I agree with every letter you say!!
@HLkiller2 It's available on the *audio CDs* that came with the Limited Edition Red & Grey Box sets that have both the DVD & Blu-Ray versions of the video as well as the only place to get the audio mixed properly for and on CD (as opposed to ripping it from the DVD/BR). Part of what makes it "special" along with the photo book and all the above material in one place.
Oh man, where is the "Sooper-Dooper-LIKE!" button? Tasty good schtuff. :) I was lucky to catch their tour of The Incident in Portland and want to see them again.
Anyone else who likes Porcupine Tree is automatically a friend of mine. Unfortunately I have yet to meet another fan.
+MMID303 I've yet to meet on in person myself, it's really hard being a female fan! Hey, If your in Birmingham, Ala let me know!!!! :D
Feel very fortunate in that my son and I have grooved on PT/SW for some 10 years now :)
I'm your friend!
Doesn't matter where we are, we are kindred spirits :)

August '22, does that count?
@@Lux7355 Of course this counts 👍
And still listening in August 22. Pristine performance right up there with Drive Home en Chile
Going to see them in NY next week !!! Can’t wait !!
@@MrTheRich13 lucky you!
I love how the bassist is always happy enjoying what he's doing, and steven's guitar is so beautiful
Colin always has the same expression on his face in live stuff lmao
Steven Wilson IS beautiful :)
Mr Colin Edwin, funny how he was never one of the "in -crowd"
That drum sound is out of this world
Gavin playing is totally out of this World!
the bass player is so happy
as usual...
... always a smile on his face, as if he were ever to XTC ... :)
that's what happens when your drummer is Gavin Harrison I guess xD
@@baristokel damn accurate!
The Buddha on the bass...Colin Edwin
gavin harrison you beast. you always have the tastiest drum parts... :)
John wesleys back up vocals are top notch
He is a truly superb vocalist !
As usual
His voice is magical!
Agreed. I'm not sure if he's involved in the newly revived PT tour though?
It added another amazing dimension to moat of their songs. It's a crying shame that he and Colin are no longer in the best Rock band of the late 90s to 2010s

Man, I am so missing their music
So now think about what just happened two years ago 🙌
Hope you have seen them on their recent tours ☺️
Porcupine has the BEST live concerts I've ever seen in my life. They sound even better in live than in record. How they sound, the effects, the lights, the videos, everything is just perfect. I totally agree with you. Their sound and live concert is THE BEST.

Totally agree! Creativity to the highest possible level!
Just one more stunning tune in the vast repertoire. Amazing band at their peak stage.
I truly love this band. As I have said before, to listen to them is pure bliss. similar experience hear. even the lyrics in this one sum up my bad times
Anyone else find "In Absentia" a pretty disturbing yet beautiful album? Once you realise the lyrical inspiration is the dark and twisted world of serial killers, you find the music almost counterpoint to much of the darkness.
yeah xD
I don't know whose side I'm on
I don't think that I belong 'round here
If I left the stage would that be wrong?
I tried to find myself a better way
I got religion but I went astray
They took my money and I lost my faith
Rain keeps crawling down the glass
The good times never seem to last
Close your eyes and let the thought pass
I tried the capsule and I tried the smoke
I tried to aid escape like normal folk
But I never seemed to get the joke
These are my old clothes
This is a new low
This is my blood flow
This is my headstone
I spend my days with all my friends
They're the ones on who my life depends
I'm gonna miss them when the series ends
Rain keeps crawling down the glass
(Pull yourself together)
The good times never seem to last
@XDrummerSteve agreed! words cannot describe Gavin's talents, its rare that a drummer can dress up slow/quiet songs with intricate fills and patterns and not overdo it. he nails it every time!
always return to watch this masterpiece... brilliant..
I just watched this and listened to it for the first time. One of the best songs I've ever listened to.
This piece is so reminiscent of something you'd have heard back in the early 70's.
After 10 years of listening to PT, its fresh and addictive.
Am I the only one who prefers Porcupine Tree as opposed to Wilson's other projects ?
Vidyut Tiwari you're not alone 😄
As far as I'm concerned, yeah, you're the only one. Everything Steven Wilson touches is GOLD
I think everyone says PT is better.
I'm with ya mate, i prefer Porcupine Tree, so you are not alone!!
I am not so much into the poppier sound of his own works, but I haven't heard it all.
I worship Steven and his solo work, but I gotta be honest, I prefer PPT!
+Ellen Cox Both of us Ellen :))
Me too maybe because PT is a great band and Steve Wilson is a great musician but is only him ..
It's not only him. He always surrounds himself by a set of the best musicians.
Yes but the process of creativity in PT was different working more like a band with chemistry , in his solos albums is different , great musicians supporting to him...
Héctor López Really? From what I heard he wrote just about everything for PT, whilst with his solo work he lets the musicians do their thing.
Subtle and yet beautiful bass lines - Colin is underrated... he deserves more attention!!
This band never ceases to amaze and astound me! Even songs Ive heard a hundred times!!!
Colin is the smoothest performer. Love that smile.
That ending is my favorite part of the song, it always gets me. When the song ends, i always turn back a little only to listen that fill again and again. Gavin is one of the best, his sensibility on the drums is incredible, like in the great ones!!!
Powerful, thought-provoking music. PT are phenomenal!
I have listened to a LOT of music. All of these musicians are professionals. I can only imagine that they all have some sort of input in the final mix to some degree. They are masters of sound. Period.
Agreed, 100%. I've watched this DVD countless times. Never get tired of it.
I'm in another world!!!
Amazing! Never heard a live performance of this song before.
they're most definitely one of the best live performers ever! doesn't matter if they seem to disagree with each other on somethings
"I tried to find myself a better way, i got religion but i went astray" LOL that soo describes me! :P
This is one of my all time faves !! The harmony of the musicians is tight. Excellent all the way around !
Love this track.
I tried the capsule and I tried the smoke. Too many tokes and I never woke. Back to the Roxie like normal folk.
Every time I hear this song I can’t help but think this how the Beatles would have sounded in 2002. Beautiful song from a (IMO) flawless album.
this song put me on such a natural high, i feel so euphoric everytime i hear this song, let alone the screening by Lasse Hoile. Such a superb song and video.
Best band on our planet simple
I'm honored PT wrote a song about my life that I only just discovered. 🤣
Essa banda é simplesmente incrível! 👏👏👏👏👏
Sem dúvidas
awesome band,playing proper music,and im a 50 year old,just love this band
Prodigal Is A Beautiful Great Rock Song And Fantastic Wonderful Masterpiece By Porcupine Tree.
Fantastic recording. Utterly amazing.
Yes, all PT/Steven followers are one big familly. Kinda nice to think about. Bless!
Every single part of this song is groovy as fuck and not to forget Wesley's vocals here, absolute bliss. Damn Tilburg, lucky bunch! Thank you for the DVD.!
That is a superb song , great band..and what a fantastic audio mix...when you see them live there engineers always get it right..Front of house sound is so important to PT..
what a tranquil song!!
Can you name a group that is this tight, this brilliant ? I can not.
Anathema, Cynic, Karnivool
Victor Sanchez Excellent answers, as there are some amazing performers and it would be hard to pin one as the best. Some amazing new Prog'. out there.
yeah just to name a few, prog breaks every boundary. Now we are living in a sharing world.
Indeed there are over one hundred in my list. Some songs stand independently aside the groups and that is my interest.
Victor Sanchez I would so much like to believe that Man can accept a " Sharing World". A substantial key to World peace it would be. It would work, without a doubt. My eyes of sixty years don't see it unfortunately.
Rain keeps crawling down the glass
The good times never seem to last
Close your eyes and let the thought pass

I love this lyrics
wow... I wish this would be on my regular dvd... one of your best songs
Excellent guitar tones and solos, as always
How come this band slipped past me? They're excellent
+malcolm godfrey Because they're underrated, as simple as that. Check this page out... facebook.com/Underrated-Rock-Artists-115683478486160/
Sometime music can be magic.
Cannot WAIT to see them in concert 9/14/2022 in Boston!!!
Fantastic!
Simple but super effective beat with the trademark amazing fills!
My favorite PTree song. Great to see/hear it, but it should have been on the DVD!!
Spend the days with all my friends. Their the ones on who my life depends. : )
I love how the bass player is just so content!
this song psyches me out every time I listen to it... \m/
awesome band !!!
Great song, loved the bassline.
I love the whole DVD - brilliant!!
Goodness me, this reminds me how much I miss Porcupine Tree.
Brilliant! as always PT

awesome just blew me away
The alumisonic Guitar is amazing.
I think SW would struggle on X Factor only because he has the gift of talent
Yes! He's not boring enough lol
that solo
Love Gavin's one armed fill @2:47. Rick Allen-esque!
Kidding. This is great stuff. ;)
In my opinion John Wesley should be added as fulltime member of Porcupine Tree, he is a very good guitar player and is perfect on chorus.
If this is an out-take than the ones they actually included must be insane! How on earth did this not make the cut?
Still waiting for that really high and even LONGER note. Listening to them is like listening to parts of a different world.
This would be an excellent addition to the eventual In Absentia Blu-ray
I don't know why this wasn't included on the DVD. It's such a good song, and performed superbly of course :)
PT is the band I cant stop listening
Total love! Total beauty! Total the best! How much I love this fucking awesome song!
wonderful song.
I loooooove this!!!!
It's nice to watch a video on UA-cam where the comments below it aren't full of fighting, arguing and swearing!
sounds like a dream...ahhhh!

@JaskaJunior Yeah dude im going to be there too man im so psyched!! Can't wait to see the incident performed live.
First PT song I ever geard. And know, years latter I can say my life is better.
Thanks for the uploading, much appreciated!
holy shit rock n roll still lives☺
The fact that this wasn't included on the DVD is a sin.
Awesome!
Oh man, where is the "Sooper-Dooper-LIKE!" button? Tasty good schtuff. :) I was lucky to catch their tour of The Incident in Portland and want to see them again.
Amazing trip. u_u
