Great suggestion, I often tell people to have a stand and keep it where it's within reach in whatever room they spend a lot of time, because if you see it you're far more likely to want to pick it up and play it, If it's in the case I find people don't see it, don't think about it, don't play it.
I say get a good guitar stand Have the guitar out where you see it You'll be more likely to play it by seeing it In a case your not looking at it There's way better safer strap locks then the one showed Either way thanks for sharing
As a bass player of 30 years there should be one more accessory (so this goes to 11). Guitar cables. You can never have enough and they always seem to go bad right as you hit the stage. Cheap cables fail faster than quality ones. I do like Mogami, but they are pricier for the beginners (save those dollars kiddies). Also cable thickness actually matters, because thicker cables will have a greater run distance when you are on stage (unless you go wireless but that's gear for later) and in my experience tend to last longer. Also get guitar cables that have strain relief springs. You'll thank me later for that suggestion ;-) I have been told throughout my music life that gold plated cables mean nothing, but I'd argue that they do a better job of resisting corrosion.
Good advice, never skimp on your cables. They're your guitar's only connection to the outside world. And buy the best amp you can, even if it's smaller than you want. THAT'S what makes your sound!
Definitely an improvement compared to the other videos. You'll need that and you know we have some. The less aggressive, less teleshopping-like approach is better. I recommend a hygrometer for the case or the room the guitar is stored in. Keep in mind that you got customers all around the world. Some may face the opposite problem with very high humidity most of the year.
I've never used a humidifier in my life, but I can't live without some nail clippers, a guitar stand, music stand and one of those weird, Scott Devine gloves (okay, not the glove)
Now we are talking. Good job guys. 👏🏻 No Great job. Passing along the knowledge. And including the knowledge of the free apps. Really made it feel like it wasn't a sales pitch.
If you don't have a dog or a kid to knock your guitar over then a guitar stand is a must. Guitars are a beautiful decoration in any room and a guitar that is locked away won't get played as much as it should. Having said that my guitar fingers is smiling at me from across the room and I think I'll give her some attention.
Strap buttons in the center of the heel? I always put them on the treble side of the heel on an acoustic. Also, I've been playing for 60 years and find I can always learn something new from these videos. Well done.
@@kjemradio , you're lucky so far. The plunger is only 0.0454" into the strap button, any wear on the plunger or button hole will easily pop out. Also, the chrome ball can come unscrew from the 1/4" plunger if not tightened to the plunger. I've disassembled and used loctite on all my Schaller's ... pia ... but better safe than a headstock break.
Uhhh, guys.. I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to mount those straplocks with the open side towards the strap, not away from it. If you pull the pin now your guitar will fall.
As I told the above commenter. Direction of the hook part doesn't matter, I used different manufacturers straplocks and put them on in all directions. Never failed me once in my 30 years.
I keep cigarettes in all my cases lol I don't keep anything but a few marlboro, black and mild or newports inside. And a lighter in each one as well lol

A cheap trick You can use silica gel instead of humidifier they are equally effective and very cheap you can even put more than 1 in your case for peace of mind or even in an acoustic sound hole
What tools are needed to refret a guitar? I'm planning to refret my own guitar. I think buying the necessary tools is more convenient and efficient than shipping my guitar to a luthier.
Our best advice, if you currently don't own any fretting tools, is to look at our Essential Fretting Tool Set. It includes Includes Fret Cutter, Deadblow Fretting Hammer, Fret Leveling File, 6", Double-edge Fret File, wide/jumbo, Fret End Dressing File, Fret Dressing Stick with 14 Micro-Mesh Belts, Fret Rocker and our 2nd Edition Fret Work Step-By-Step Guide. Check out www.stewmac.com/item/3125 Naturally, you'll also need fret wire which we can also provide and comes in a variety of types and sizes depending on your preferences. Refretting is a somewhat tedious job and requires patience and diligence but with quality tools and parts from StewMac, and your own ingenuity, you can't go wrong. You may want to watch a video by famous luthier, Dan Erlewine, as he removes frets in Mike Bloomfield's guitar: ua-cam.com/video/W5oCY-1dnso/v-deo.html to catch a few tips on fret removal and installation. Skip forward to just before the 4:00 mark when he starts talking about the frets. One of the most critical parts of a refret job is removing the old frets which, if done improperly, can cause damage to your fingerboard. Removal of frets can be time-consuming so, just take your time and make sure you don't have an important gig scheduled for the same day that you're trying to do the work. Good luck and happy refretting!
When I started 48 years ago we used our ears for a tuner..after a tuning fork for pitch. Never used a capo or a metronome. Why do you show the straplok upside down?
Nothing wrong with using a capo. Just a tool, like a fingerpick or a guitar pick. Useful for playing in different keys or change the overall timbre of the guitar.
Nope, you can just turn the post of the strap lock if you want it to face upwards. That's how I do just because I know that if the strap lock itself fails, it won't drop my guitar to the ground. Honestly I did cringe a little bit when I saw him install it that way, but they know infinitely more about the trade than me
If you want to save money, Armor All is the same thing as the Polish and you can buy lemon oil in jugs used for furniture polish. You're getting 10% of the product for 300% markup when you buy through music suppliers. Every musician should work in a music store at least once so you know your enemy
4:04 I suggest that beginners get a guitar stand.
Absolutely!
A quality one. The cheapo ones break constantly and are easily knocked over.

Why am I watching this? I've been playing guitar for over 10 years XD
Same thing here 😆
Same here, but definitely missing a metronome and an humidifier 🤷🏻♂️
Because they want you to buy their stuff.

What kind of monster installs Schaller strap locks with the opening facing down? And why am I watching this video? I've been playing since 1988!
It might be fun and informative for you to learn the proper way to attach strings to a tuning peg so they don't slip or run into other problems.

The straplock "U cradle" on the strap is UPSIDE DOWN? Guitar will easily fall off if you accidentally snag the ball end!!
Direction of that doesn't matter. I've used them in all directions for years and never had one fail.

STRAP LOCKS SAVES LIVES
You mean guitars too right ;-)

Correct! I noticied that too. It's a no-brainer, how do they get that wrong?
I thought the same thing, but I've never used one so I just assumed I didn't understand how things work (not a new feeling for me)
I think a stand and a headphone adapter are pretty important
