The first part is right but I don’t think there is untapped potential there. On a population level sure tons of people but on a spiritual level Norfolk, Newport News, va beach is on par with roanoke va. Va beach isn’t a real beach city like Miami or LA and Norfolk doesn’t have a non-military alter ego like Dallas-fort worth.
Personally I believe baseball needs to be in Nevada. With the biggest growing sports market the mlb needs to forget tradition and get into this market soon.

NFL held the pro bowl in Hawaii for a long time, so they could spin their marketing on this with the idea of, "You were so supportive of our sport as a fanbase, we wanted you to be a part of our league at the earliest possibility of expansion." Hockey, Football, Soccer are already there with okay attendance. I don't think they can accept a baseball team anytime soon without negatively affecting attendance/impact of other sports. And as much as I love baseball and would like one to be in Nashville the local focus is not likely to accept a dwindling fan market, when they already hooked up with the ever increasing soccer market. I just dont see how it could work considering it doesnt have the true people numbers you need for good regular attendance. I think it would quickly be in the bottom 3rd in regular season attendance averages.

The problem with Austin as an answer is that it works for big 3 (a football basketball or baseball team would be awesome here) but we already have a soccer team and soccer is way bigger here than hockey (I legit thought big 4 included soccer not hockey for a sec when they said it)
If you pick a state that doesn’t have any pro sports teams, you more easily have a the entire state be your fan base as opposed to adding a 3rd NFL team to Texas with a new one in Austin.

As someone who was born/raised in Louisville, an NBA team would do GREAT. Too bad University of Louisville wouldn’t allow one to play at the YUM! Center due to their home game contract with the stadium. NFL has Cincy and Indy (1.5 hour drive) and MLB with Cincy plus AAA Bats are already in Louisville.
