Couple of things about the Tornado: You can drop bombs at supersonic speeds. No need to slow down. Speed is life, so stay above Mach 1 and you've got good chances to actually survive the round. The Tornado has *very* good energy retention compared to most other jets out there. So... go Boom and Zoom, as is the tradition for german fighters/planes in WT.
This plane is the only plane I got over 2 tons of TNT on a base. The record right now is 7.66 or 7.11 Tons of TNT on bases. Also, you can drop your Bombs above Mach. The fastest drop was around 1.05 that I did.
If you love big bomb loads and speed try the thunder chief. I doesn’t get flares but I does get 3 3,000 lbs bombs My record for tnt on base in air arcade is close to 24 tons I was basically left alone as a bomber until I started to bomb their runway then the match stalled
The anti ship missiles are not bugged! Use them to lock aircraft on their runway and launch from super far away! It's extremely effective and a guaranteed kill if you come from straight vertically above the aircraft (multiple) and get triple/quad kills. edit: this method does not work anymore as Gaijin as nerfed the Tornado IDS Marinefliegers radar even further and now it can no longer lock onto aircraft.
The aim 54 is easy to spot and since they only pull 16g as long as you dont fly in a straight line you can avoid them fairly easy. You can also use the radar to slave your IR missles to a target to kinda help with not team killing unless they are too close.
If you look up tims variety here on youtube he has a pretty awesome tutorial on how the radar works plus all sorts of in depth videos. He is better at explaining it than i am.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that simply help with original target acquisition while the missile is still on the rails? I think that the missiles can still potentially get confused and start chasing a teammate once they're in the air.
This plane has a gimped flight model. Playing it tonight and it was doing a weird stepped climb even with full pull on controls?. Hope Gaijin irons out the flight model pretty quick.
the best tip for this thing i found is take 2 x 2 1000lbs and 2 x 1 1000lbs bombs all in the center and you'll be able to have just enough for one base, and get there stupid fast. Really easy and is how i spaded the entire rest of the plane was just nuking a base and getting 1-2 kills after.
Yeah, they really know their shooty and tech stuff but really suck at choosing with whom to go to war. Germany is a bit like your asperger cousin ... absolute power house in efficiency and ingenuity but socially severely challenged xD
As with most strike fighters the thing to really focus on with the Tornado in AirRB is “One pass. Haul ass.” Get in there, drop your bombs, and then get out as fast as possible. There is very little beyond the terminally situational awareness challenged that you can dogfight at its BR. Because, let’s face it, the Tornado is a bit of a pig. A very fast and effective pig. But still a pig. Sadly the RAF fighter version isn’t going to be much better. It’s a follow on to the Lightning and the Phantom and is basically a solid, but incremental, improvement of the same characteristics. It’s a damned good interceptor. But asking it to dogfight MiG-29s, F-14s and F-16s is probably not going to turn out well unless you are very skilled.
I went for the tornado as well, which left me only 2 stars away from grabbing the T80 (including #10 tmrw) and I'm really tempted to put in the 2,000 GE to buy the 2 stars required. Partially as a collector's item and also in case its price on the market *somehow* rises and I wont be paying 40-80 USD for it later
Thats one thing I hate about events is it’s extremely unrealistic that anyone who actually has a life cannot get more than one vehicle unless it’s like a 1.7 vehicle that only need 2 stars (this is hyperbole but still applies) even I have to sacrifice my normal schedule a bit just to get 1
@@iwantmynametobeaslongaspos7194 I wouldve gotten it anyway if I judt managed my time. Grind air star on day 1, then day 2 for the tanks. I was 17k short of 1 tank star and 300 for another. I'm annoyed lol. Especially given I made some poor spending choices with the GE I got from the winter sale

Are you actually aware of what you are on about? Do you know what the GR4 is? The GR4 is a Tornado IDS(stands for Interdictor/Strike) , more specifically an upgraded GR1 for the RAF. Either you are comparing the 90s Tornados to the 2000s tornados, or attempting to compare the IDS to the ADV(Air Defence Variant) e.g. the Tornado F3, which makes absolutely no sense as one variant is a ground attack variant and one is an interceptor, so they are not at all comparable.
@@imperialinquisition6006 The IDS is the ground attack variant that was built for Europe. The UK had jets built to different specifications, these were the GR1s, they are not IDSs, but are closely related to them. After a series of upgrades they became the GR4s. Similarly the F2 and F3 are not ADV, they're closely related but are the uks own variants
My thinking was that the tanks give me the versatility to use the burners more often while also being able to ditch them if I needed to lighten up the plane. Carrying all the fuel internally just means the plane is heavy all the time instead. Just seemed to make more sense to me but I could be wrong when it comes to WT mechanics lol
@@PanzerPaw nah you arent wrong about the mechanics its just that the plane isnt maneuverable at all regardless of the fuel in it, so having the tanks only limits the number of bombs you can carry. but ig its up to personal preference
@@bagelmaster2498 Custom loadouts ftw. Large maps: drop tanks. small/medium maps: all the bombs. that way i can usually stay above Mach 1 the entire bomb run and back to base to rearm. and speed is life.
