This has to be the Cadillac, or Mercedes, or Porche, or Lamborini or.... Brilliant, well executed, and so ...focussed...:-). Seriously, the info and skills used are in the video are better than anything I have ever seen...and I am 78. Bravissimo.
Wow, that’s a pretty nice feedback 😂. Thank you so much, I really appreciate that!!!
I, as an acid engineer, fully support that statement. Surely many others do, more shy to participate. Hat's off
Thank you so much 🤗🤗
My goodness. So I randomly click on this video and thought it would be kinda interesting and it turns into the most insane, detailed, coolest comparison ever. And now I know about the focus stacking app! Will have to use that, I don't know if I trust photoshop over a dedicated, easier to use app
😂 thank so much, Jimmy! Just lately I recommended it to a youtube friend (another perspective) who inly used photoshop before. He was over the moon about the app.
@@wolfamri It sounds like a game changer! Will rethink this years autumnal mushroom photography ha
@@jimmysgameclips Oh, I have to finally do that this year. Planned it every year, but never shot a single mushroom macro.
@@wolfamri It's so fun
Ha,ha, easy with that excitement. He made it sound so easy about the picture stacking when in fact it is not. It is not an app, it is a computer software and it is not free. And nobody said it is easy to use, you really have to know what you are doing.
I believe this is the best test/comparison I have ever seen. Compact, yet exhaustive. Professional, yet funny. Many thanks for that and chapeau bas!
Thank you so much 🙏😉
Yes, it is :)
If every single Marco tutorial video disappeared and this was the only one left, everyone would become a master macro photographer.
Awww, what an amazing feedback, thank you so much, James 🙏🙏🙏
As someone who's worked on many UA-cam productions, it took me a second to really appreciate your weatherman style setup and how interactive it allows you to be with your media.
When you pointed right to the contacts on the adapter I thought "hold up... That was too smooth." 😆
😂😂 Thanks, Alex. I’ve been thinking to make more outdoors for a looooong time. But I don’t live in California or Greece, where the sun shines every single day and every time I want to go out and shoot, I think nahhhh, not good enough 😂. I still plan an outdoor series because I see that people like them more.
The dedication and detail you have put into this video is insane! I salute you sir!
Thank you so much 🙏🙏
You might say it's macro level detail 😂
I would feel sorry if I didn't type thank you in the comments column, this is a very enlightening video for me. Thank you brothers
Awwwww! Thank you, that means a lot. Enjoy macro photography, it's so awesome!
Greatest video ever seen for macro photography. Undervalued channel
Thanks so much, Adeeb. Keeps me motivated 🙏🙏
This is the video I've been looking all over UA-cam. I have -0 knowledge on cameras but I'm interested in little creatures photography and before going to spend hundreds of dollars on a macro lens. I'm going to start with this video. thank you so much for the very detail video.
Hi there! Welcome to the club and enjoy the ride! It’s so worth it 😉
Hey ! Just wanted to add something, you can keep your aperture control while reverse mounting your lens, you just need to get an adapter like the meike mk-c-up reverse mount adapter which basically passes the information from your camera to your lens through a cable, it also protects your contacts and you can add a clear filter at the very tip of your set up to protect the inside of the lens from dust.
Thanks for the input, Ronan. Let me pin that comment so that people can see it.
@@wolfamri Glad that I helped. (Technically you also keep your auto focus for those who like to do that)
I own one of these. Mine is a very cheap plastic thing from Aputure, and I have to say I don't like it for the very simple reason that it sticks out from the back of the reversed lens and limits how close I can get. It's possible to mount a ring flash to it, but at high magnification the flashlight won't reach the subject, because the flash sticks out beyond the subject. So I prefer the work-around.
@@skakdosmer I see why that would be an issue, but that also depends on the lenses you're using and how much magnification you need.
Thank you, Lau. That’s great info!
I can only say that, after watching almost all of your videos and many many more from other youtubers, I haven't been able to find someone that explains better than you. Thank you so much and CONGRATULATIONS!
Thanks so much, Luis Miguel, really means a lot 🙏
Macro level details about macro photography 🔥🔥🔥
🤗🤗 thank you!
My settings: kit lens 18-55 + extension tube + 2x teleconverter. All this with a very narrow aperture and a longer shutter speed. It really worked for me.
Great to hear that, Otto. Isn’t Macro Photography just awesome? 😉
Wow, random click and found the best comparison/guide ever
😂 thanks for the random click and nice feedback 🤗🤗
My favorite setup now is my 50mm ans extension tube. But the 100mm will definitely be in my shopping list, thanks for all the data !
Thank you for your feedback 😉. A dedicated macro lens is a bit easier to work with than extension tubes tbh.
the image at 6:18 is so powerful with that sense of scale. even though it wasnt part of this experiment, that is my favorite image. bravo
Thank you, Noah 🤗🤗
Your explanations are so clear. Thanks a lot Wolf !!!
Thank YOU for watching and for such great feedback 🙏🙏
I agree. Love your last photo
That you can get such a great lesson in macro photo for free like this is almost too good to be true. Thanks for the awesome video! Subscribed instantly. :)

Thank you so much🤗🤗
Thank you so much for this class!
Thanks for watching 😉
Fabulous video! I love the comparisons you made, and the way you made them. I don't have many UA-cam subscriptions, but you are now one of mine!
Wow, thanks, Burt. I really appreciate that 🙏🙏
I rarely comment, and I have seen dozen of macro photography videos. This is by far the best well executed comparison I have ever seen. Chapeau!
Thank you so much, Felipe. I really appreciate that!
Wolf

Wow man, this is fantastic. Instant sub, I haven’t even seen your other videos (yet), but this one was so good. I’m kinda upset that I haven’t found this earlier! Thanks for the super good content.
Thank you so much, Michael 🙏🙏🙏
You totally took me back to my film days while rocking reverse adapters and simultaneously manually holding down the f stop ring... fun times!
😂 yeah old times were fun, but boy would I not want to go back 😂😂😂
@wolfamri true, I do love my digital, but I still rock a Polaroid sometimes for good measure!
Amazing video! I had no idea the reverse mount could have such effective results. It is really cool how you made an earnest effort with all the possibilities - each photo at the end looked great!
Thanks, Artem. I didn’t expect that either. I really enjoyed the experimenting with magnification.
Well done for testing so many combinations. This must be the best video in this category.
Thank you so much 🙏🤗
Fantastic video! Thank you Wolf
Thank YOU 🙏🙏
Best of macro videos, cheers to you sir!
Thank youuuu 🙏🤗🙏
Brilliant
Thank you 🤗🤗
Amazing comparison! Didn't expect that tubes, ranyox or reverse mount can give such beautiful results without dedicated macro lens.
Thanks, Patrick. I didn't expect that either tbh.
First video of that kind that I enjoyed watching from first second to last. Bravo!
Thank you so much 🤗🤗
Wow! That's by far the most comprehensive comparison video I've seen on macro options. Great production, and so many questions asked and answered. This will be a fantastic tool for anyone getting into macro. Thank you very much for posting.
Thank you so much for your feedback, Jim 🙏🙏
One of the best videos I’ve ever seen!! 👏🏻
Wow! Thank you so much for such a great feedback!!!
This is by far the most fun and interesting video on the use of macro lenses and its accessories. Thank you.
awwwww, thank you!!! 🙏🤗
Amazing video answered lots of my questions on macro photography and a very enjoyable watch- many thanks
Thank you, Mark 🙏
Wow! Wolf you're a genius. Excellent work.
Thanks so much, Francisco. The spider has to take the credits 🤣
The final image is just super sick! Great job, that was 14 minutes of excitement!
Thanks, Jens. Ready for the macro challenge? I think I can go beyond that 🤣
@@wolfamri beyond 11:1? oh shit.... I need to buy stuf...:D
😂😂 I‘m sure if anyone can do it, it’s you 😁
So well presented!
I have been years and years following great macro shooters here on youtube but... This is BY FAR the best macro choice resume over all UA-cam, very well explained even for newbies, great work Wolf.
Wow, thanks a lot for such great feedback 🙏🙏
Wish more UA-cam content around photography were this useful. Learned so much, thank you!
Thank you, James 🙏🙏
Who TF are you ? This is the best comparison on youtube about macro ! Thanks a lot ! Professional work here !
😂 Thank you 🙏
That was truly amazing. direct to point and great explanation.
Thanks, Edd. Except for the embarrassing out of focus images at the beginning 😂😂
Hahaha 😆 yeah , but they are great creative thumbnails.
🤣🤣🤣
Glad I got the laowa. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to this concept.
Congrats on the Laowa and thank you 🙏😉
Thank you , you have re-ignited my fascination with macro photography. Now to find some subjects!
Great to hear that, Iain! In the longrun, plant some peppermint. It attracts tons of insects and grows like weed. 😉
I have wondered about this and I greatly appreciate this video. Thanks.
Thank you so much, Tim 🙏🤗🙏
Extremely well done video!
Thank you so much, Albert!!!
Great work! I really enjoyed and learned a lot.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for your feedback!

Best macro comparison ever. Quality content, Sir
Awww, thanks so much! That means a lot!
Oh goodness I love this. What a fun video, and thank you for not screaming loudly at your viewers for the whole video.
😂 I try to avoid that, but sometimes I can’t help 😂. Thank you 🙏🙏
What I take from this is the distance in pixels, a measurement I've been looking for for a long time. Excellent video. Subscribed.
Thank you, Mark! Much appreciated!
Best video ever about macro photography. All questions answered.
Awww, thanks so much, Ugur 🙏🙏
Great video
Thank you 🤗😁
Just wow and respect for all the effort 🙏
Thank you 🤗🙏
By far, the greatest explanation for macro photo, a lot of technical data... You became very fast my favourite youtube photo teacher! Thanks so much for all!!
Thank you so much, Adrian. That means a lot. 🤗
Perfect review. Clear, informative, funny, and efficient. I can't wait for my next trials.
I have a reverse adapter, a Raynox lens, a camera and some lenses to try. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your continued support🙏🙏. Macro is just super fun. Enjoy your tools and if you don't mind, let me know which option you like most 😉.
You make it perfect... very clear .... explained to the best.... thank you

I just found your channel by chance and I love your style so far. You've earned a new follower my friend. Thank you!
Thanks for subscribing🙏🙏! I hope you find even more interesting stuff 😉
Amazing videos. This is a rare macro video in whole of UA-cam. All the best to you!
Thank you, Sangeet. Much appreciated 🤗
Thank you for not using a creepy spider as your model, I wouldn't have been able to get through the video if it were so lol. But this is amazing information, thank you!
😂😂😂 love it! Thank you, Mary!
Saw the thumbnail and had to click! I took a photo of this type of spider the other day. Only have extension tubes atm but going to try adding the Raynox this weekend.
Enjoy! They are the most amazing spiders to photograph because they sit still AND look in your direction AND look spectacular alienlike 😆.
Great review! I think maybe it's the greatest review I saw
Wow, thanks! 🤗🤗
Excellent presentation!
Thank you so much 🙏🙏
This is a crazy awsome video, thank you SO much!!
Thank you so much, Carlos🙏🙏
That was amazingly presented! :)
Thank you so much, Marc 🙏🙏

Yet another great video!
🙏🙏 Thank you!
Not even halfway through the video.. Subscribed! Just superb teaching style. So hard to find people with these skills. Thankyou! Thankyou! Thankyou!
Awwww, thank you, Michael. Means a lot!
I’m really glad I stayed until the end! The image stacking turned out quite spectacular. Will definitely be attempting this at some point with other subject matters. Thank you! The last one is nicer overall though.
Thanks for staying till the end. It was super fun and even I wouldn't have expected that outcome ;)
@@wolfamri It definitely looked like a fun subject to be taking photos of. Personally I never had macro photography peak my interest. My auto accident from three years ago is forcing me to buy new equipment. The car started on fire with all of my gear in the backseat!
I held off for so many years just using a cell phone, which is nice for traveling light. I have several collectible coins stored away just waiting to be photographed… An example would be “The divine comedy Paradiso 5 Oz coin” I would like to get some macro shots but haven’t decided how I’ll set it up.
I’m not sure if you use Instagram but my thought is to post the photo in sections. When you go to my profile you would see 1 photo taking up 9 tiles. Then I would post a photo with the coin by itself including the reverse. If you catch my drift anyways…Might be something to make a video on if you haven’t already. Take care
Wow, I just googled that coin. That looks fantastic. But with that size it wouldn’t require extreme macro. For instagram you can easily crop. Most important will be the lighting 😉.
@@wolfamri lighting is definitely key, I need a more controlled environment before I mess with it. I’m going to be extremely careful taking photos. Then I will ship it to NGC and have it graded/encapsulated. Makes it easier to sell and it will be better protected. Just won’t have the option to take it outside the capsule after I go that route.
wonderful video! thank you wolf!
Thanks for your feedback, Iman 🙏
I've started watching your video very recently and after watching your precious videos, I found that there are so many teeny tiny things that I ignored while taking photos. thank you very much indeed for making me a better photographer. 👍🙏
awwww, thanks so much for your feedback. I really appreciate that!
I've stated to get into the Laowa 100mm f2.8 2:1. With a soft box it is easy to use in the field, you can stop it down to f18 and get great images and it gives you all the contacts. Reasonably priced too. Just wish it had better weather seals.
Thank you, Douglas. Since I use my Sony 90mm f/2.8, I really have started to love autofocus for macro. My output particularly with difficult insects has greatly improved. Hopefully Venus Optics will dive int AF lenses soon.
Fantastic video!
Thank you so much, Cobus 🙏
You are so so underrated man...wish I could give you a thousand likessssssssssssssssssssssssss....
Awwwwwww 🤗 Thank you soooooooo much 🙏🙏🙏
Man, you're nothing but a genius. Amazing video, dude!
Wow, thanks, Christian 🤗🙏
I really enjoyed this video. I love these technical info sessions about gear and products. Very informative and well made Thank you.
Thanks so much for your feedback 🙏🙏
Fantastic video. Clear, efficient, fantastic graphics, great worthy information
Thank you so much 🤗🤗
That's really good video, a gem!
Thank you, Jason! You may like the one coming up even more. Focus stacking 😁
Really great comparison!!
Thanks so much for share!
Best regards :)
Thanks for watching and your feedback 😉
Best video about shooting macro and/or the different macro tools I've ever seen, by far. I have an 85mm 1:2 lens and some extension tubes but never really bothered to truly figure out how to get good shots. I'm super motivated now!
Awww, thank you! Enjoy the ride. Macro is super fun. But don’t forget that it’s a lot about lighting too! So a speedlight with a diffuser (even DIY if your budget is tight) will boost your results big time 😉
Great explanation
As many previous comments said, this is the most complete video on UA-cam about how good the 18-55mm is for macro photography ! This should be recommended to anyone who wants to get started with macro before buying an expensive lens.
Thank you so much! I need to say though that this video is mostly about magnification. It does show that the sharpness isn’t on par with other solutions and that you lose light with some tools. Plus: no doubt a dedicated lens is more convenient. But: it definitely can be done and not everyone wants to spend money on a dedicated macro lens.
This was super helpful as i want to get into macro! Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! As a short tip: what brought the fun and the quality (well, at least I think it's quality 🤣) into my macros was a flash and a diffusor. They don't cost an arm and a leg, but make things easier and so much better looking.
this video !is exactly what a beginner needs
So great to hear that, thank you for your feedback!!!
Subbed and saved!!
Thank you, much appreciated 🙏🙏
I don't normaly comment but this is an excellent video and great presentaion! Too many want to include too much in depth information making it long and laborious to watch when you just want to understand the key bits. This was very clear and simple to follow with the indepth details on the screen so we can look into complicated bits later if we want to without disrupting the flow!
Thank you, Freddie. Great to get such feedback 🙏🙏
