I stacked hay from my grandfathers fields like this man is doing when i was 14. Short sleeve shirt, scratched up forearms, blood mixed with sweat. The older boys helping were tall and tough. One guy liked to grab a bale by the wires with one hand and fling it up on the trailer. Grandpa made him quit it because he was stretching the wires. Fun days. Grandpa gave me my first check, then said this is your money, you earned it, your helpers each get their own check. All through life ive held to that rule and paid my own way never wanting help from others.
@@RustedIronRanch looking forward to the next video.. I would like to meet your wife. She helps hay carting and had a Series 1 Land Rover feature in her wedding photos. What a girl she must be ! Dave.
@@RustedIronRanch Good to hear. My wife also helps with hay carting and moving machinery about and sheep work. But I would think she would draw the line at Land Rovers
We have just come in from carting hay and I had to watch you cart hay. 😖 I have a Perkins powered Acco and a truck loader and a stack elevator that make it a bit easier on my middle aged body. Interesting regarding bannared bales those 69's make a pretty good bale. I suggest that you time the packing tines correctly and adjust the tines along the bar they are clamped to. These need adjusting according to crop type, moisture and windrow size. You just need to alter these in the field once you have done a few and know how it is running. Remember if they are overloaded the bar will telescope and not allow them to travel all the way into the chamber and then cause a bent bale
Thanks David! Hopefully next year we will have dads Dodge and my NH471 bale loader operating to make it easier. And yes, I think I still have a few kinks to iron out in the baler! 👍🏻
Nobody works like farmers and ranchers. Modern equipment helps alot. Now its tractor with computerized steering instead of 6 work horses. Stand still and let the ddt plane spray ya. Even though, life was much more innocent and pure.

Good advice from your grandpa, Harley. I agree once you’re covered in grass sticking to your sweat, it’s not the most pleasant job!
There is nothing more satisfying that seeing something you grew harvested and sold. Great job.
Dave.
Thanks David! It is pretty good hey!👍🏻

Great job Terence. Nice to complete the cycle
Sure is! I’d rather sell them from the paddock though! 😂

I agree, I am very fond of the old way of doing things. My plan is to use as much old gear and farming methods as I can!
Need To build you a Graple accumulator for the skid steer
