Nice one, I used to use these old finger movers years ago in the late 60s. If you keep the revs no higher 1200rpm, you will not have any problems
apart from cheeking the sharpness of the blades after each hector. The modern way of life was to get everything done as fast as posable!
Then of course the revs had to go up, - Yes then the shear bolts would keep breaking. I know one thing, you get a better cut if you go steady.
Thanks for the memories. Have a great day.

Hi Chris, Touch wood I haven't had to sharpen the knife sections yet! I think they seemed to get sharper after all the build up come off them. The ATF keeps them nice and clean and seems to lubricate very well. Thanks for watching!

I love that you have a passion for this older equipment.
I really find it hard to appreciate why it is that this level equipment which does such a fantastic quick job, isn't considered economically viable any more. It just beggars belief. People always want more, and more, and more. It never stops.
Anyway, rock on. I salute you, from Ireland 👍👏👏

Thanks mate, I really appreciate it! I’ve always said even if I had more money to buy new equipment, I’d just buy more old stuff anyway! 😂. Like you say you can’t beat it economically, especially when you’re farming 30acres like me. 👍🏻

Hi Terrance, I am enjoying your videos and old gear at work.
So glad you fixed the sway bar, the end of the cutter bar is supposed to lead in forward into the crop.
There is a great vidio on knife mower set up on " Just a few acres farm " channel. Well worth a look for technical advice on adjustments.
Great to see Australian small farm channel get going.
    Dave.

Hi David, thanks I really appreciate it! There was a couple of adjustments made along the way that’s for sure.I do watch Just a few acres farm, it’s a great channel. Thanks again for watching!
      Terence 👍🏻

      Hi agian.
I am glad you are watching Just a few acres farm. I find Pete Larson very encouraging and inspiring. Dispite the shade of red paint on his tractors. I admit mine are blue.
Is the 135 multi power ? You dont see many petrol ones.
      Dave.

I don’t mind the other shade of red as well! 😂 Also blue ones 👌🏻 Unfortunately the 135 is not multipower, apparently there are petrol multi power although pretty rare. I actually see quite a few petrol 135s here, they’re are quite common, not so much in the uk, great tractor though. I’ll try to find a diesel multipower 135 next 👌🏻
      Thanks again👍🏻

Nice job, those machines are still well able to earn their keep.
Personally I do the first round clockwise as its easier to track the boundary with the front left wheel of the tractor than with the end of the cutter bar which might be obstructed by the grass and snag a post or something. Then at the very end, go back and do the outermost swath - the back swath - anti-clockwise using the front wheels to stay on track.

Thanks mate! I agree that would have been easier than what I did! I remember for next time thanks 👍🏻

I also use that method but another little tip mainly on larger paddocks is you do the first 4-5 rounds clockwise then go back and cut around the fence. This just helps the crop cure at similar rates but this is only really critical on larger acers were you might be a full day or two cutting the one paddock

Thanks Nathan, that makes sense, I don’t think the difference in drying time will affect my paddock size. 👍🏻

@@RustedIronRanch Yeah that is right with small paddock and light crop. Its not something many worry about especially as with the big modern equipment big paddocks are not so big anymore.

True, large paddock + large machines= small paddock!
