I see no gex: deep cover gecko beanstalk. It has a tv, couch and a lamp in the tree. The origins of my cozy obsession
Gex definitely deserves some love, thank you for the suggestion!
Please never change that intro idk how to explain it but that hits my brain the same way the PS3 boot up does and I love it.
It’s not going anywhere! I used the ps2 startup and devil may cry menu screen as inspo 😎
I love the frequency of the contents being uploaded. Thanks for your hard work!
My cozy places in games were Dark Hollow and Stone Hill from Spyro, Primordial Ooze from Ape Escape and the save rooms in Resident Evil games.
Final Fantasy wise some places from the XIII games and XV.
The mix between heartwarming music and stunning visuals is soul healing.
Love those choices! I’m getting a lot of comments regarding Spyro, so I’ll definitely be checking him out for part two 😁
Spyro is SUCH a cozy series. And yay, Ape Escape mention~
@@Vynsent Thanks man, love your early 2000's aesthetic. Brings me back to my childhood.
Yeah Spyro is so magical. Autumn plains from Spyro 2 is amazing too. Can't wait for part II then.
The Mystic Ruins hub world from Sonic Adventure 🙌🏾
Ooo, now that’s a chill spot 🕺🏻
Yes, I completely agree.
Final Fantasy 8 has some of my fav cozy places in gaming. Balamb Garden and Balamb Town are just so relaxing. Great video by the way
I swear, any map from Counter-Strike 1.6 gives me cozy vibes.
Something about the mixture of the realistic style with the odd map proportions, just takes me back to my childhood playing those custom maps for hours.
As always, great video my friend 👍
That's literally what I thought!
I agree! I may have to do a video on CS maps alone, there’s so many great ones! Thank you for watching 😁
@@Vynsent I've done content on CS maps before, and I'm looking to do more about the obscure community-made ones at some point. Let me know if you'd ever want to work together on a project like that 👍
Shenmue (thank you featuring it!), Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast, Midgar from FFVII and Dire Dire Docks from Mario 64 for me.
Great video, Vincent.
All excellent choices! Definitely a huge fan of that Midgard pick as well 🌞 Thank you friend!
Another great video! The older I get, the more I learn to truly appreciate cosy spaces in games. The original Bioshock has always been one for me. Just find a nice quiet spot in Rapture and listen to the ambience around you. Many years ago, I used to get high in my bedroom and just vibe out in Rapture. Good times ❤
about what you said at 32:15, personally, i find your videos really relaxing and i like your casual, laid-back commentary; yet i feel like letting yourself play the game without talking at times would really add to the coziness your videos have! you know, just enjoying the ambience, visuals and sound of the games for some moments would also be nice too i think :D
I REALLY like that idea! I watch a lot of content that’s similar to these videos, but instead of gaming it’s usually retail/mall walkthroughs. I need to take more inspo from that style and let certain locations breathe. Thank you for that tip! ❤️
I had almost completely forgot about the fish tanks! As soon as you called it out, that memory came rushing back, used to be my favorite isle to chill in.....aside from Electronics.
You and me both! Loved the lone wolf beta fishes too 😅
Nothing beats those Sega Blue Skies.
I hate summer, but man I love nothing more than popping on the Dreamcast during summer and playing some Sega games!
Gonads and Strife, bringing back the memories.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who got it 😂
I have a few:
-Lake Hylia, Ordon Village, and the Fishing Hole in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
-Waddle Dee Town in Kirby and the Forgotten Land
-Meadow Zone, Beach Zone, Flower Zone, and the Gathering Place Area in Poképark Wii
-The Chao Gardens in Sonic Adventure 2
-The Hub Worlds of the original Spyro the Dragon Trilogy
-Seaside Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey
Ahhh, a fellow waddle tee enthusiast is see 😎 You’re a human of culture, my friend! All great recommendations as well! I was originally going to include the chao garden, but opted out since I didn’t have a save built for SA2 on my emulator. My chao garden was very bare 😂
Lake Hylia in Twilight Princess is sensational. So much to do there, and I love the music! I spent a lot of time snorkeling at the bottom of the lake + swimming around Zora’s Domain as well.
@@itstowersss443 I spent a lot of time standing on the bridge to Fyer's cannon and letting the day/night cycle play out so I could look at Lake Hylia in the morning.
Thank You for this Sunday evening video delight !
instant subscribe !
Blessed to have you on the team! Glad you enjoyed the video as well ❤️
Man I remember spending hours poking around Destiny Island when KH1 first came out and ending up gathering may more coconuts than I actually needed to just messing with the minigames. Got really good at bouncing Wakka's balls back at him too. It was one of those early game hub areas that I'd actually start up a fresh save file every now and then just to revisit.
Honestly I think that was one of the few tutorial areas that Square really got right; even more so than the whole character creation dream sequence you go through before getting there, since it does a lot to subtly teach you the mechanics of the game (parrying attacks/deflecting projectiles with Tidus and Wakka and getting bonus XP for doing so, maneuvering around the environment, using the battle menu etc.) without just telling you they're a thing. The fact they reward you for doing so by letting you gain a good few extra levels and (and a tidy stock of extra potions to start if you get good at beating Riku) before the real game begins is an added bonus.
You aren’t lying! Not to mention how many time I had restarted, just to listen to Simple and Clean in the intro 😂
@@Vynsent That too, yeah! Definitely an experience you don't really get with games anymore (FFT, Legend of Dragoon, Evil Zone, and Breath of Fire 4 are a few other games that - while you didn't have to start a new file for it - I remember just booting up sometimes to watch the intro cinematics (also the job showcase in FFT's case); or going WAY back, I'd boot up Legacy of the Wizard on NES and just like, go off to a particular part of the dungeon because I wanted to listen to the music there.)
Also, after a fair bit of thinking about 'cozy' places in games for me... Or really just 'cozy' games to me in general, I have some really vivid memories about playing Pokemon Sapphire back in the day; Route 120, a little out of the way bush secret base on a ledge just below the ancient tomb and right in front of a 4 tile berry patch (with another 3 tile one at the bottom of the ledge) and a big lake. The actual secret base layout wasn't that interesting but I definitely put a lot of work into decorating it and making it my own (IIRC I went with the two large room variant of it, forget which side of the bush that was) and just the location itself was really comfy. I remember enjoying just jumping in, watering or harvesting and replanting my berries, then just kinda vibing in the area before going off to do all the daily stuff. The fact it wasn't that far from the big berry farm was a nice bonus too.
Also Breath of Fire 4 - for as dark as it could get - had a LOT of really cozy places, partly because it's just a really nice looking game with a lot of environmental details. The fishing spots and camp screens especially but just in general the towns feel really lived in and have a ton of nooks and crannies to poke around in and even the dungeons and field areas are really nice to look at (barring the hexed areas which are just kinda spooky, but still look neat in their own way); Both Dark Cloud games have really nice towns too. (Helped in the first one by the fact that you can customize the layouts of the first few to a degree.)
Pardon the rambly info-dumping, just thinking about all this brought back a lot of fond memories that I was excited to share.
Another good series start. Gotta say, the same way you did Final Fantasy X (my fav btw so thanks for that) is a vibe, Legend of Zelda Wind Waker is there too. Outset Island, Dragon Roost Island, and sailing on The Great Ocean come to mind first for me.
Thank you my friend! I was heavily contemplating on including some Zelda in this video, but I always leave space for part two. Will definitely have to give your suggestions a look 😁
For me some cozy places in gaming would also be:
- Dantooine from Star Wars KOTOR
- the desert area in GTA San Andreas
- many World of Warcraft maps from the pre-Cataclysm era, like Westfall, Teldrassil, The Barrens, Dun Morogh, Eversong Woods, Elwynn Forest, Mulgore, pretty much most starting areas
- many Halo maps such as Blood Gulch, High Ground, Standoff. Halo's maps are just generally really cozy when there's no war going on
- pretty much the whole map of Elder Scrolls Oblivion is cozy.
- most of Assassin's Creed 2 is pretty cozy to me and I think the soundtrack really helps.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve loaded up Resident Evil 0 just to hear the Save room theme on the train. Best room agreed. Beam me down Scotty.
It really is the best! It’s definitely helped me through some hard times 🥹
Definitely keep the commentary it's entertaining
I used to want to be in the shenmue world so badly growing up. Shout out also to the town square from sonic adventure, great beach, sunsets, music 🦔
algorithm blessed me once again, your niche is so dope
God bless that algorithm! Glad to have you here, friend 🤜🤛
I spend hours doing parkour in Prince of persia warrior within. yeah its all dark and bloody everywhere, but i felt at home there when i was a kid
Neat choices! Shenmue was also one of my first thoughts. I find save rooms in any horror survival game cozy. A lot of it comes from the music and the chill respite.
The overworlds in Spyro 2 are my first choice though. Autumn Plains is my favourite with its beautifully colored leaves, the look and sound of the water, the castle in its melancholic vibe and the ethereal ambient music. There is some vertical exploration with climbing the castle, finding a secret wall to break in order to get onto the rooftop and to fly over half of the place to a secluded isle. Perfection.
FFX has tons of cozy places. I can't not name my favourite FFIX though. My favourite cozy place there has to be Dali village. The nostalgic music once you enter, the sounds of the windmill, a little cat sitting in the inn, a cute shop and a little farm field. It's so pretty until you discover the dark secret of the place ;D
Lavaridge Town from Pokemon Emerald is another one. You take a relaxing cable car right up to the mountain with a beautiful scenery in the background. Travelling further brings you to a place where ash is constantly falling from the sky turning everything gray. Running through the grass will shake of the ash and make it green again, there is a stupid kid hiding in the ash and right afterwards, after a row of battles you finally get to Lavaridge Town. A small town at the foot of the mountain, with a cute herb shop and a cozy hot springs. The water and the reflections in this game are so pretty. Right next to it is a little sand bathing place and the town is filled with just a few elderly people, welcoming you with open arms. It melts all of your sorrow away.
Then there is File City in Digimon World on the PSX. At day but especially at night! This is a special case because the more Digimon you bring back to the city the more it changes. It always keeps it it's peaceful vibe. There is just something about the PSX graphics and the nature based aesthetic mixed with tiny technology bits. You find big power outlets in the ground across the game, little PC's that contain items etc.
File City has this vibe of a group of people building something from nothing. You've got the hut you can sleep in right in the middle, a meat field (yes, they are growing meat) right behind it and a little sea with a waterfall section keeping you just steps away from the endgame area. The music is amazingly beautiful. I listen to the night version whenever I need to shut up my brain at night.
Recently I found the Lost Grounds in the .hack//G.U. trilogy very pretty and cozy. Especially Briona Gwydion the Dragonbein Range and Hulle Granz Cathedral (the names do be weird like that). This comes mainly from the mesmerising music and the astonishing colour palette but damn are they beautiful.
I could go on and on but this is already long enough. Great video, would love to see more!
All great suggestions! I’ll definitely have to give some of these a look for part two 😁❤️ That digimon one especially peaks my interest!
Exploring Dobuita and not going into the Tomato Convenience Store to vibe is actually criminal
Goated topic. I wasted so many hours on so many elements of games that shouldn't take as long just cuz they were cozy to roleplay in
always a blessed day when Vyn uploads
I’m just glad to be here 😁
You gotta showcase the Villages in Okami, pretty much most of the game is full of cozy locations.
You got it! Gonna add that in for part two 😁
Just about every single overworld in Spyro 2 supersedes most locations in games in terms of sheer coziness.
Def gonna check out some Spyro 2 for the second video!
Solid Snake's raincoat fit from MGS2's tanker mission will always go incredibly hard
Man was dripped all the way out 😎
I could chill at Sentinel Beach in Jak & Daxter and the precursor legacy forever
Yeahhh im early ❤❤❤
Love your content bro ❤
Happy Sunday! Thanks for being here ❤️
It’ll be cool if we got a video of the coolest cities in video games
I can definitely work on that!
Love it 🎉
Thank you! 😁❤️
LETS GOOO
YEEEEEEAAA BOIII
Night time Hong Kong in Sleeping Dogs and basically the whole game of DOAX are my favorite relaxing places in gaming
Maaaan, I literally had sleeping dogs downloaded for this list. Probably gonna make it in part two!
@@Vynsent Sleeping Dogs is classic
Kokiri Forest in Ocarina of Time is nice & cozy.
You just reminded me, it’s time to revisit ocarina now 😂
Awesome video and a very unique topic. Thanks bro!
Also, I think that one PC box game you couldn't identify was the first Rainbow Six?
Thanks a bunch! And I think you’re right. I can tell by the colors now 😅
Sirena Beach from Mario Sunshine will always be my favorite
You got that right! Definitely a vibe 😎
Eliot, honoka, and hayate were always my fav doa characters, but I'm a longtime player
Thanks
My brother from another!! Thank you so much for the support. Seriously, that’s next level!! ❤️
@Vynsent You're so very welcome 🤗💜 I want to wish you on another milestone on your UA-cam channel and to show you all my support and love 💜🙏🏼🎉
Why water in Kingdom Hearts looks SO BEAUTIFUL???
I want to live in it!!
Because it is a woman
Love these kind of videos
Glad you enjoyed, my friend 😁
Honestly I know what you mean about the MGS2 cosiness! There’s a little section with a vending machine on Shell 2 Core Floor 1 and I always thought I’d love to just chill in there 😂
YES!! I’ve been playing through it again recently and I love that spot. The oil rig has tons of cozy spots lol
- halo ce: the silent cartographer
- cod bo2: hijacked
- cod bo1: nuketown
- gta vice city: diaz mansion
- gta san andreas: bayside
- gta 5: paleto bay
- bioshock infinite: columbia
- ac black flag: great inagua
- ac 2: villa auditore
- ac 3: davenport homestead
- crash twinsanity: n.sanity island
And others i dont have in mind rn maybe im gonna make a part 2 later
All great choices! Especially the AC one’s. I had forgotten how many gorgeous landscapes can be found in that series
I think you'd really enjoy the art direction, atmosphere and skyboxes in games like Rayman 2 and 3, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, the Tak and the Power of Juju trilogy and perhaps the Zeno Clash games too (Zeno Clash 1, 2 and Clash: Artiacts of Chaos). Have you heard of any of these?
Thank you for this video.
Ahhh I love seeing everyone's versions of cozy in games. I actually really liked the little crewmate hangout spot in MGS! I've never played MGS myself so I wouldn't have known about it otherwise. As for my personal favorites, one I always go back to is Megaman Legends. In the first game, there's an area on Kattleox Island where you can find the TV Station, the Hospital, and some ritzy houses. There's also a boathouse and a dock, and a woman painting on a hill. If you walk up the hill next to the boathouse, there's a low fence overlooking the ocean. I LOVE just standing in that spot, staring at the clouds. At the point where the ocean meets the sky. Hearing the seagulls, inagining the coastal wind in my hair. It's one of my favorite places (*´ω`*)
I also love the big open fields of Pokte on Manda Island in Megaman Legends 2, as well as the bar in Ruminoa City on Nino Island. Man ... bars in games are just always so wonderfully cozy.
Wow, you really just unlocked that Megaman Legends location in my head after all these years 🥹 I remember renting it from blockbuster as a kid and loving the Kattleox Island area. I think I’m gonna have to go back and see it again 😁
@Vynsent Ahhh I miss Blockbuster! But yeah, it's one of my favorite games. Despite any clunkiness, it has such cozy environments. Not to mention, The Flutter theme is short but SO GOOD. And they way they remixed it into the different tracks, especially in the second game.. sorry, I tend to ramble when it comes to these games (^~^;)ゞ
MGS2 isn't a bad pick for a cozy game, most early PS2 games had their own aesthetic that could be strangely comforting. Early 2000's vibe I guess. Armored Core 2: Another Age, Kingdom Hearts, FF X, Zone Of The Enders, and Dark Cloud (though them dungeons could be monotonous af, building the towns was my vibe), were some to name off the top of my head. As for favorite DOA character, I always went for Lei Fang in DOA 2: Hardcore, but in modern games it's been Rig. Edit: Almost forgot Tekken 4, I would just sit in some stages and listen to the music.
You’ve got that right! I actually felt very cozy with the latest armored core, so I need to give 2 a look 😎
Traverse town. The song alone
Oh man, you aren’t lying. I almost included it 😅
DOA5 is good but peak beach is in DOAX2 (I believe DOA Paradise on PSP is a lite version). I've stayed on the menu listening to waves and Bob Marley helps me chill. Also Kasumi but all the girls are queens
continue on buddy
You got it!
@@Vynsent good work
I think Paradise Killer's world in general is cozy for me. If I had to say why I would say it's, bcuz of how weird (and inviting) it is.
Ooo, that’s a game I’ve yet to play. Gonna give it a goog!
Grove street is my safe space
Every area in Perfect Dark Zero is a cozy place
I’ve still yet to play any perfect dark games, surprisingly! I’m sleeping 😂
Nineball Island from Endless Ocean Blue World.
Hiii
Hello there!
OK man, love your work but I HAVE to know. Who / how did you get that female voice for your channel intro. I swear I've heard it in so many classic ps2 games. It's like a core memory or sumthin. Is it fiver? Autogenerated? Please man I gotta know? Much thanks brother
Anything Borderlands, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.
Now that’s a series I’ve been sleeping on for far too long 😅
Majula
Walmart still sales rifles and shotguns.
This whole time I had thought they stopped 😅
First
A true supporter! 😎❤️
you can still buy guns at wallmart
They probably just banned them from my local store, given the fact that it’s always hectic in there 😂
I love the idea of the video but the choices of games are...not what i'd go with. Guess we grew up with different games. I would never consider a fighting game level as a cozy place.
That’s fair! This was more of a personal list, but I’m always open to exploring any suggestions in future videos 😁
